Chapter 309: Spirit Beast Contract
Chapter 309: Spirit Beast Contract
[Mist Shroud]!
Ding!
Mana: 102,260 / 178,200 -> 72,260 / 178,200
+30% stats
Vitality: 1330 -> 1729
Strength: 1330 -> 1729
Agility: 1190 -> 1547
Stamina: 1315 -> 1710
“Damn! 30,000 units!” Leo exclaimed sharply. The Mist Shroud’s mana cost had increased dramatically because of the many allies within the mist since stats had risen along with it.
The whole clearing was swallowed by dense mist as the Hydra’s visibility became severely limited.
“Everyone, now! Use full force!” Leo commanded. The Hydra heard his voice echo through the fog, but couldn’t pinpoint his location.
Leo quickly replenished Lily’s mana and summoned Shyra once again. The rain and clouds had already dispersed after the beast’s mana was exhausted.
The Hydra snarled, trying to sense their positions, its two heads moving erratically through the mist. It could indeed sense them—but they would shift again before it could react.
And then it began.
Slash!
The poison head’s neck was cut at its base.
“Leon! Straight Ahead!” Leo informed. Since Leon didn’t have any sort of soul connection with anyone, he was also blind in the mist.
Leon heeded the instructions and bolted forward, clawing at the water head’s base. The Hydra didn’t even get time to prepare before a massive, highly compressed wind blade slammed into it, striking both heads simultaneously with a violent gust.
Shyra materialised at its back and slashed across the scaly hide. Sparks flew as her claws scraped against the grey scales, and soon the scraped marks flared violet as her [Violet Hellbrand] activated.
Leo appeared again, this time with his fingers curled tightly into a fist, ready to strike the Hydra at the neck base.
THOOOM!
“Graaaaaahhhh!” Both heads groaned under the sheer intensity of the attack. The scaly armour at the point of impact shattered apart, fragments scattering as the Hydra’s spirit body was heavily damaged.
Nyxa seized the opportunity and headbutted the poison head with her aura-infused body. But the Hydra twisted violently and clamped down on Nyxa’s abdomen.
Whiiinnnee!!
She whined in pain as razor-sharp teeth dug into her flesh, blood spilling out in streaks.
“Bastard!” Leo roared.
He appeared mid-air just above the poison head that had clamped onto Nyxa.
DHOOOM!
A crushing blow straight through the skull. The punch—charged with 700% [Critical Strike]—could deal a total damage of 13,832 strength units. But in his hurry, Leo forgot to infuse his arms with aura, and he paid the price.
Crack—crack!
Multiple bones in his arm snapped as it bent unnaturally, and even muscles weren’t spared as they ruptured. A jolt of pain shot through him, but his regeneration kicked in almost immediately as the bones began to realign with faint grinding sounds. He persisted through the pain with gritted teeth.
But the job was done. Nyxa was freed and quickly retreated back to Niri to be healed.
Only 10 seconds remained before the Hydra would replenish its mana. At that moment, Leon appeared at the same spot below the neck where Leo had delivered the crushing blow—his own fist charged with [Critical Strike].
THOOOM!
“GRAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!” The Hydra screeched. The moment the mist had appeared, the attack’s strength had suddenly increased, and it didn’t know why—but it hurt terribly as the impact reverberated through its massive body. It didn’t even get a moment of respite before Leo appeared at the same place just as Leon vanished, his still-damaged fist once again ready to deliver a charged strike.
But at that moment—
“Leo, wait!” Lily called out urgently. But it was already too late.
Even Niri had unleashed her [Solar Beam] at that exact same time.
THOOOM!
Hummmmmm—screeeeee!
Leo’s punch made the beast stagger on its legs and collapse heavily onto the ground, and Niri’s Solar Beam seared across the same wounded area, only intensifying the agony as steam rose from the scorched flesh.
“What happened, Lily?” Leo asked quickly.
“I can tame it now! Don’t hurt it anymore!” she said, focusing her talent as she extended her hand toward the Hydra.
At the same time, Leo received a system notification.

Stats Updated: Lily
Vitality: 216 [416 -> 1916]
Strength: 208 [408 -> 1908]
Agility: 205 [455 -> 1955]
Stamina: 209 [459 -> 1959]
Intelligence: 620 -> 3620 [820 -> 3820 -> 5320]
Mana: 24,800 -> 144,800 [32,800 -> 152,800 -> 212,800]
Usable Mana: 32,800 -> 212,800
Her stats directly shot from peak 3-star to the height of Low 4-star—even stronger than Leo. And her Intelligence actually crossed the ceiling of 4-star and directly entered Pseudo 5-star.
The Spirit Hydra disappeared the moment it was contracted.
But then something happened.
HRUMMMMMM!!!
A violent wave of mana suddenly erupted from Lily’s body as her eyes glowed a dangerous bright pink. She seemed to have lost control over herself as both her previous elements—wood and wind—ran wild. Huge vines burst out from all over the area, shooting toward the sky as if trying to skewer it. Wind howled furiously as a massive tornado formed around her, completely blowing the mist away and cancelling Leo’s skill.
“What the fuck!?!” Leon cursed as he witnessed the phenomenon.
“Leo!! How the hell did she gain so much strength in such a short amount of time?!” Leon shouted as his body began to get pulled toward the tornado. The other beasts didn’t fare well either—Shyra clawed helplessly at the ground to stop herself from being lifted, and Nyxa struggled the same way.
But Niri was unlucky. Her small body began drifting toward the epicentre of the tornado. She activated [Vine Estranglement] to create something to hold onto, but the vine snapped apart before she could even grab it.
The wind was razor-sharp, slicing through everything. Countless wounds appeared all across Niri’s body, and in the next moment, she disappeared—all within just a few seconds, so fast that Leo didn’t even get the chance to unsummon her.
Leo didn’t waste another second. He immediately unsummoned both Shyra and Nyxa as the expanding tornado reached them.
Lily’s Mana: 189,780 -> 187,900 -> 185,460 -> 181,900 -> 174,378
Her mana was depleting at a terrifying speed. Soon, other elements manifested as the sky darkened, and thick black clouds churned violently with streaks of black lightning rolling within them.
The razor wind cut across Leo’s body, drawing blood from multiple places as sharp pain flared with every slice. Leon, on the other hand, was doing his best to outrun the expanding tornado—who knew? He could truly die in there due to his slow healing.
But at that moment, something shifted within Lily. The pink glow in her irises dimmed slightly, and she slowly turned her head toward Leo, struggling against the raging storm.
“L-Leo… No…” she muttered weakly.
