Chapter 242: Instructor Prosecution – 1

While Lily and Leo’s so-called ’interrogation’ continued, Brok’s sharp eyes caught something off.

“Boss! Stop Vorin from reaching his life bracelet!” he shouted.

Leo reacted instantly. He twisted Vorin’s arm away, fingers locking around his wrist just as it was about to brush the bracelet strapped around his ankle.

“What would happen if he touched it?” Leo asked calmly.

Vorin shot Brok a venomous glare, his eyes filled with naked hatred, but Brok didn’t even spare him a glance.

“Boss, clicking the bracelet button once will call an investigator to the bracelet holder’s location,” Brok explained quickly. “Clicking it twice will directly teleport the holder to the temple, even if they aren’t injured. But doing that costs 500000 AC and 1 million AC, respectively.”

Leo’s gaze darkened. If Vorin had managed to activate it, the interrogation would have ended on the spot. Torturing someone in front of an investigator would immediately result in heavy fines.

“Why so?” Leo asked.

“It’s to prevent extreme cases,” Brok replied. “Things like mind-breaking torture or… cases like rape and all.”

As he spoke, his eyes flicked sideways toward Karen.

Her body was twisted at unnatural angles, limbs bent the wrong way, joints dislocated beyond recognition. Tears streamed endlessly down her face as she sobbed in broken, choking breaths, no longer capable of even screaming.

Leo nodded slowly. That meant driving someone fully insane was off the table.

“But how would they click the button if they’re restrained?” Leo continued as he watched Vorin. “And shouldn’t others be able to click it for them, just to make them pay a huge price for nothing? Like right now.”

Brok began to explain in detail.

“The life bracelet is connected directly to the brain. If it detects that something irreparable is about to happen, it activates automatically. That includes illusions too, since illusions can be just as real to the brain. As for others pressing the button, it won’t register at all. Oh, and if the bracelet gets destroyed, an instructor or professor will be dispatched to your location.”

Hearing that, Lily suddenly exclaimed, her eyes lighting up.

“Oh! That’s why that Birel bastard got teleported away.” She tilted her head slightly. “I made sure to keep his vitality decent, but I guess I didn’t account for his mind…”

She trailed off, falling into deep contemplation as her gaze drifted back toward Karen, as if deciding what to do next.

A chill ran down everyone’s spine—everyone except Leo.

Leon and Vorin were the most shaken.

She has already tortured him/someone to near insanity…

Both grimaced.

Leon silently swore to never get on her bad side, while Vorin cursed himself—and his sister—for dragging them into such a nightmare.

After a bit more ’persuasion’, Vorin finally spoke.

“It was instructor SHUB!” he screamed.

The moment the words left his mouth, it felt as if something cracked in the air itself, like invisible glass shattering.

Vorin suddenly clutched his stomach. A searing pain tore through his body as his eyes rolled back, froth and saliva leaking from his mouth like broth spilling over a pot.

“Boss! That’s the backlash from breaking a simple mana contract!” Brok shouted.

“Oh?” Leo said coldly. “So that bastard knows this fucker just exposed him. Since he can’t be taught with words, I guess only actions will do.”

Without hesitation, Leo pulled out his phone and directly sent the video of Shub to the AAA.

Not even 5 minutes passed before a heavy presence pressed down from the sky.

Leo squinted upward and recognized the figure riding a skyrend eagle. It was Shub.

His eyes were completely bloodshot, veins bulging, his expression twisted and ugly—like someone who hadn’t relieved himself in days.

His furious voice echoed faintly from above.

“BASTARD!!!! DELETE THAT VIDEO! I WILL KILL YOU TODAY!”

Leon already knew about Shub’s case. They had discussed it once around a campfire. Back then, Leon had said the offence wasn’t that severe—but even so, a minimum fine of 2 million AC and permanent demotion for life were guaranteed.

Leon raised his hand.

Singham materialized instantly, his massive body shrinking down to about 3 meters.

“Singham,” Leon commanded calmly, “use [Aura Beam].”

Leo’s interest was immediately piqued by the unfamiliar skill name. Even Brok looked surprised. [Aura Beam] could only be learned by highly trained beasts, and unlike mana-based attacks, it consumed stamina. Aura-type skills were notoriously stamina-heavy.

The lion opened his jaws. A visible sphere of glowing orange energy began forming in front of his maw; its colour was similar to the aura Leon used to reinforce his own body.

Blinded by rage, Shub didn’t notice Singham charging the attack.

He raised his hand as a massive lance of sand swirled into existence, grains screaming against one another as it condensed. All the while, his eagle continued darting straight toward Leo at terrifying speed.

“HAAAAAA!” Shub roared, hurling the lance forward.

At that exact moment, Singham released his attack.

ZOOOOOOMMMMM!

A blazing orange ray tore through the air in a perfectly straight line, moving with horrifying speed.

Only then did Shub snap back to his senses.

“Hmph!” he snorted, hurriedly forming a sand barrier in front of his eagle.

But—

Thiwk!

The sand lance shattered the instant the aura beam touched it. The beam didn’t even slow down as it pierced straight through the barrier.

Shub’s eyes widened, his pupils shrinking to pinpoints. Before he could maneuver his eagle out of the way—

ZOOM!

Like a laser obliterating a plane in a sci-fi movie, the eagle was struck and vanished the very next instant, forcibly recalled back to the temple.

Shub himself went into free fall, plummeting from the sky straight toward Leo’s group from over 100 meters.

Instead of calming down, his rage only intensified.

“Fuuuccckkkersssss!” he screamed, thrusting his hand downward.

The ground trembled violently as massive waves of sand surged upward around them—

Only to collapse the very next second.

“W-what!?” Shub shouted in disbelief.

Panic flickered across his face, but he quickly forced himself to focus.

To soften the impact of his fall, he raised his hand again, commanding sand to rise beneath him.

Once more, the sand lost all momentum and settled uselessly back onto the ground.

“N-nO! What’s happening!?”
