Chapter 135: Chapter 134: Goal: Super Specialization

*A Minor Conjecture on Specialization Awakening*

Abstract: It is widely known that for Mages, specializations have always been powerful supplementary tools in combat, cultivation, and even daily life and production. From world-altering feats down to the forging of a tiny horseshoe, specializations can be applied in almost any scenario. With the aid of a specialization, a Mage can often accomplish things that other Mages cannot do, or even imagine. It is one of the key "ingredients" that distinguishes the uniqueness of every Mage.

However, due to the unpredictable and uncontrollable nature of Specialization Awakening, attempting to awaken a powerful specialization in a desired direction during Rising Ring proves to be quite difficult and complex. This paper will first introduce the current consensus among Mages regarding Specialization Awakening. Then, through the analysis of extensive research materials, it will present a new minor conjecture on the topic: the impact of the number of mastered Magic spells on Specialization Awakening. This ultimately proposes a bolder method to "control" Specialization Awakening.

Keywords: Specialization Awakening, Quantity of Magic Spells

...

Introduction:

Is Specialization Awakening truly unpredictable or uncontrollable? Obviously, that is not entirely the case. We all know that if a Mage has not mastered any Damage Magic, they basically will not awaken a Combat Specialization. If a Mage is extremely skilled in Magic Potions, Alchemy, or even Rune Science, there is a high probability that they will awaken a supplementary specialization in the corresponding field... In short, our predecessors have already summarized quite a few laws regarding Specialization Awakening, which will not be reiterated here.

Awakening a more powerful specialization has always been something many Mages pursue, yet often fail to achieve. In this regard, the experience provided by our predecessors is as follows: The more numerous and profound the mastered Magic spells, the broader the knowledge, and the stronger the Mana and Spiritual Power, the higher the possibility of awakening a powerful specialization of a certain type. This is a rather vague piece of experience. To summarize, it essentially means that if you perform the best in all aspects, the awakened specialization will naturally be stronger. This might be correct, but it is also useless—every Mage’s Energy and time are limited, naturally making it impossible to cover every single aspect. Therefore, determining exactly which factor has the greatest impact on the Strength of the awakened specialization is what is truly practical.

After reviewing a large amount of literature, I discovered a fact: Genius Mages tend to awaken much stronger specializations. This is not an accidental occurrence; there must be an inherent, constant factor influencing the Strength of the awakened specialization. What do genius Mages have in common? It is Magic.

A fast cultivation speed and profound knowledge do not necessarily define a genius Mage, but a genius Mage will undoubtedly learn Magic at an extremely rapid pace. For them, constructing a Magic Model is much simpler. This is an innate talent—the talent of a Mage. Therefore, genius Mages all master a quantity of Magic spells that far exceeds that of an average Mage. Could this be understood to mean that the number of Magic spells a Mage masters has a tremendous positive impact on the Strength of their awakened specialization?

...

Analysis:

Because one of the three major principles of a Mage is "never let others know your Magic," probing into a Mage’s Magic Library has always been a massive taboo. This brought immense difficulty in validating this conjecture. Fortunately, this minor conjecture on Specialization Awakening only requires the number of Magic spells mastered by the Mage, not the specific spells themselves. Furthermore, it only requires the number of Magic spells mastered at the time the Mage was promoted and awakened their specialization, not their current total. This further reduced the difficulties during the verification process.

However, to a Mage, a specialization is even more top-secret than Magic. Thus, we cannot precisely determine the Strength of every Mage’s awakened specialization; we can only conduct a simple analysis based on general consensus. After some arduous exploration, eleven individual cases were obtained for analysis. The sample size is slightly small, but it could not be helped, and the analysis can only be conducted on First-Ring specializations.

The first case is my mentor, Mr. Aria George. As everyone knows, Mentor Aria George, as one of the mentors in the Magic Department, awakened a Combat Specialization upon advancing to a First-Ring Mage. Although its specific effects are unknown, this Combat Specialization indeed allowed Aria George to rapidly become one of the most unparalleled Mages in combat power among his cohort of students. Based on this performance, I tentatively classify the Strength of his awakened Combat Specialization as Second-Class (temporarily categorizing specialization Strength into five classes: Super, First, Second, Third, and Fourth). And when Aria George awakened his First-Ring specialization, the number of Magic spells he had mastered was 21.

...Jes Bates... Specialization Strength: Third-Class... Number of Magic spells: 14.

...Kai Arias... Specialization Strength: Third-Class... Number of Magic spells: 12.

...Bet Fleming... Specialization Strength: Third-Class... Number of Magic spells: 17.

...Florrie Dale... Specialization Strength: Second-Class... Number of Magic spells: 22.

...

Because all of the above samples were drawn from the mentors and students within the academy, and the Strength of the specializations awakened by the Academy Mages here basically start from Third-Class, lacking extreme sample references, I acquired two additional samples from outside.

Nazzel Ferrari, a First-Ring Mage with a background as a Wild Mage, who has not received orthodox Mage training and is currently an Alchemist... His First-Ring specialization Strength was Fourth-Class. When he awakened this First-Ring specialization, the number of Magic spells he had mastered was 9.

Ronan Horry, the first dean of Cyrus Academy. According to his deeds, it is known that Dean Ronan had already revealed his sharp edge during the 1st Ring Mage stage. His 1st Ring specialization was a Combat Specialization capable of increasing Magic Strength; classifying it as a First-Class specialization would not have a significant margin of error. And according to later records, the number of Magic spells he mastered during his Mage Apprentice stage most likely exceeded 30...

In summary, a deduction can be made: The Strength of the specialization awakened by a Mage is vastly influenced by the number of Magic spells the Mage has mastered. Under the parameters set in this thesis, when awakening a First-Ring specialization, if the number of mastered Magic spells is fewer than 10, the awakened specialization’s Strength is Fourth-Class. Within the range of 10 to 20, the awakened specialization’s Strength is Third-Class. Within the range of 20 to 25, or 20 to 30, the awakened specialization’s Strength is Second-Class. At 25 or 30 and above, the awakened specialization’s Strength can reach First-Class.

Since no samples of a Super Specialization could be found, a corresponding deduction cannot be made, but the author proposes a bold hypothesis here: If one wants the Strength of their awakened 1st Ring specialization to reach Super level, the number of Magic spells mastered before Rising Ring must exceed 35!

...

Conclusion and Outlook:

Due to the excessively small sample size, the derivations in this thesis have many limitations, and numerous conclusions are merely conjecture. However, I believe that as Mages’ demands for elevating the Strength of their awakened specializations become increasingly prominent, along with deepening research and an increase in the number of Mages willing to provide "informational" samples, this conjecture regarding the impact of mastered Magic spell quantities on the Strength of awakened specializations will inevitably be more accurately verified.

Regardless of whether the data in this paper’s derivations is accurate or not, at the very least, it can be confirmed that the higher the number of mastered Magic spells, the higher the Strength of the awakened specialization. The current number of existing Tricks is around fifty, and at most, it will not exceed sixty, including Rare Magic spells. Yet, to awaken a Super Specialization, the requirement is 35 Tricks or more, which means one would have to master over 70 percent of all Tricks during the Mage Apprentice stage.

But even for the most genius of Mages, constructing the Magic Model of a Trick during the Mage Apprentice stage takes at least 2 to 3 months. Therefore, achieving this requirement demands an extremely high level of time, Energy, talent, and even state of mind, making it almost impossible to accomplish. Still, I look forward to the day when a Mage appears in this academy who has mastered more than 35 Magic spells during their Mage Apprentice stage, in order to verify whether the final point of my conjecture holds true!

Gaode attentively finished reading *A Minor Conjecture on Specialization Awakening* written by Bjorn Ottero.

"As expected, how could ’reference materials’ recognized by the academy and stored in the Library lack real substance..." he thought with admiration.

He had struck gold! To be able to discover this graduation project was absolutely a stroke of luck for Gaode. Because he was highly likely the only person in Cyrus Academy, or even the entire Sean Duchy, who had the means to verify Bjorn Ottero’s hypothesis regarding "Super Specialization."

"But even for the most genius of Mages, constructing the Magic Model of a Trick at the Mage Apprentice level takes at least 2 to 3 months."

And that was under the premise of being a Third-class Mage Apprentice. If one was below this level, the time required to construct a Magic Model would only increase. In other words, to master over 35 Tricks during the Mage Apprentice stage... Under normal circumstances, even a genius Mage, starting to learn Magic spells at peak efficiency only upon reaching the Third-class Mage Apprentice stage, would still need 6 to 9 years. And the golden period to advance to a First-Ring Mage was before the age of twenty. No one would miss the golden period of advancing to a First-Ring Mage just for this "Super Specialization," which was merely a conjecture.

However, Gaode was different. He only needed about ten days to construct the Magic Model of a Trick... The only thing holding Gaode back was how to get his hands on 35 Magic Formulas!
