Chapter 2962: Chapter 2963: Hero Saves the Maiden

A white figure rushed over, and with a squelch, a sword pierced flesh. Following that, the astrologer groaned and reached out to slap a symbol onto the sword that had stabbed him.

"Ah..." The attacker screamed, released the sword, and fell on his backside to the ground.

"Stop, Zhuo’er!" Mr. Xue’s voice rang out as he rushed over to grab the sudden "assassin," "Zhuo’er, when did you return to the Residence?"

Unexpectedly, the person who appeared turned out to be Mr. Xue’s son, Xue Zhi’s brother. Bai Ruozhu had no time for them, hurriedly checking the astrologer’s injuries. Fortunately, no vital organs were hit, but the opponent was ruthless, nearly piercing the astrologer’s shoulder through and through.

"Why did you rush over here? Don’t you care about your life?" Ao Song suddenly shouted, somewhat agitated.

The astrologer’s lips curled slightly, "It’s okay, don’t delay me. If this gets postponed any longer, the curse won’t be able to be broken."

"Curse? What curse!" Ao Song shouted again, "We’ve been working hard here to break the curse for that girl, and her family still wants to kill me. So many people invite me to help, but I’m busy. Now I’m helping them without asking for anything in return, yet they almost killed me. Am I foolish to keep helping them?"

"There’s a misunderstanding inside, let’s save the person first." The astrologer glanced at the ongoing ritual. Delay any longer, and the previous efforts would be in vain, and materials can’t be gathered—the girl would truly be doomed.

With a slap, Mr. Xue fiercely struck his son’s face.

"You idiot, who told you to come back without clarifying things, resorting to violence? You’re going to kill your sister like this." Mr. Xue scolded in anger, eventually crying, "Your mother just passed away, your sister is in this state, and you’re still not considerate."

"Dad, wasn’t it you who sent me a message saying you were threatened by evil people, causing havoc at home, calling me to return quickly to save you and my sister?" Xue Zhuo looked at Mr. Xue in surprise, his eyes not showing deceit.

"When did I send you a letter? You’re in the south, and your mother and sister only had these incidents in the last few days. Even if I wrote a letter, you wouldn’t receive it, right? How could I send you one in advance?" Mr. Xue angrily replied.

Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun exchanged glances, could it have been Qin Kaichang’s prearranged plan?

This feeling was very unsettling. You don’t know the true purpose of the opponent, yet the opponent has laid plans for everything in advance—the toothpaste case, the Eternal King kidnapping, the Xue Residence incident—one discovery after another bears human traces, but they can’t catch the person behind it.

"Continue with the ritual, I’ll go to the side to dress the wound." The astrologer urged Ao Song again.

Ao Song, heir to a reclusive family, always had her pride since childhood, never caring about consequences or rules, fearing nothing—at worst, she would flee home when trouble escalated.

But facing the constant urging from the astrologer, she couldn’t refuse; he was injured for her.

Yin Yang Masters preferred white clothing, embodying the idea that evil couldn’t invade. The astrologer always wore his white robe of a Yin Yang Master, pure and unstained, seeming unearthly.

But at this moment, one side of his shoulder was stained red with blood, his usual demeanor gone.

Ao Song sniffed, "Alright, I’ll continue for now, sort them out later. If their explanations fail to satisfy me, I’ll dismantle this Xue Residence." 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ

"Okay." Bai Ruozhu agreed; even if Ao Song did nothing then, Bai Ruozhu wouldn’t let the Xue Residence off.

The astrologer was her senior astrologer’s brother, who helped them several times from Fusang to Zhongyuan, and stayed voluntarily to assist this time. No monster could harm him, yet someone here did.

Mr. Xue hurriedly bowed to the astrologer in apology, "Honorable Yin Yang Master, please calm your anger. My son was manipulated, not intentionally harming you or the Master."

The astrologer didn’t want to pay attention to him, thinking that if he hadn’t reacted quickly, Ao Song would be the one bleeding now.

When thinking about the lively girl being covered in blood, his heart would ache unknowingly—perhaps this is fate, unavoidable.

The ancestral rules of the astrologer family once were that the Patriarch must not fall in love; emotional involvement supposedly led to loss of all magical powers. He wasn’t the Patriarch now, so it should be fine, right?

Bai Ruozhu applied needles to stop the bleeding, then pulled out the sword and threw it onto the ground.

The wound was deep; Bai Ruozhu cut open his clothes partially, only to resort to needle and thread to suture him.

"Dad, you still say they’re not from the Demon, look, who stitches human flesh with needle and thread?" Xue Zhuo softly said to Mr. Xue, though everyone here wasn’t ordinary, so naturally they heard.

Fortunately, Ao Song needed concentration nearby, not noticing, else she’d explode again.

Mr. Xue pulled his son closer, whispering, "Be quiet, once your sister is home, it’ll be bad—she’s cursed. They’re breaking the curse now, if you interrupt the Master again, it’ll be too late."

"Didn’t they say mom was sick? How did she pass away so quickly? What’s the situation with my sister?" Xue Zhuo choked as he asked.

Mr. Xue’s eyes turned red too, "I’ll explain later, don’t disturb the Master now."

"Master? That little girl?" Xue Zhuo whispered, closing his mouth after getting a glare from Mr. Xue.

Luckily, Ao Song’s side had no mishaps, and the curse-breaking was finally completed. Xue Zhi returned to tranquility, shedding the aura of death.

Ao Song’s complexion wasn’t good, apparently the interruption midway consumed more of her essence.

"Is the astrologer alright?" She rushed over and asked.

"No vital organs were hurt, but he needs good care for a while. You should take care of him more." Bai Ruozhu seized the opportunity to create more contact chances for the two, after all the contributions he made, he should see some hope.

"Oh, alright." Ao Song agreed.

Bai Ruozhu looked at Mr. Xue and Xue Zhuo, "Get a doctor to check Miss Xue, let’s see whether we’re saving or harming someone."

"That’s not right, Lord Bai, it’s my ignorant son, you mustn’t take it to heart." Mr. Xue hurriedly said with a smile.

"So grown up yet still ignorant? Speak clearly now, or I’ll immediately write to your Emperor, charging you with attempting murder on the Zhong Family’s people from Western Regions. See if Tang Yin will spare you lightly." Ao Song said angrily.

Mr. Xue’s heart skipped a beat, daring to call the Emperor by name; this girl’s background might be even larger than he imagined.

Xue Zhuo realized the trouble caused, lowering his head not daring to speak more.

"Xue Zhuo, right? How did this happen?" Bai Ruozhu asked.

Xue Zhuo pulled out a letter from his bosom, "I first received a family letter saying my mother’s severe illness, immediately set off rushing back, then received this letter during the journey."

Bai Ruozhu didn’t rush to open the letter, sniffed it and said, "There’s hallucinogenic drug powder on it—did you put it yourself, or are you completely unaware?"
