Chapter 2950: Chapter 2951: Snowball or Xiuqiu?

Xue Wenhui glared at her, "You better not learn from those women flaunting themselves publicly like that. How will you find a good match in the future? Your father let you go to the Capital City this time because he wants you to marry into a good family."

"I reckon Bai Ruozhu is quite open-minded; it’s possible she might even persuade someone to leave their husband’s home." Xue Zhi replied.

Xue Wenhui pondered for a moment, "I’ll have someone look into it properly, you don’t need to speak further."

"I know." Xue Zhi smiled sweetly.

In the afternoon, Xue Zhi went to the inn to visit Bai Ruozhu.

"Bai Ruozhu, I heard you’re leaving. I’ve come to say goodbye. It’s a pity you’re not returning to the Capital, otherwise we could have traveled together." Xue Zhi said enthusiastically.

"Are you planning to stay in the Capital City for a long time? We could meet again when we return." Bai Ruozhu said.

Xue Zhi blushed pink, considering her age, she should be getting married soon. When Bai Ruozhu mentioned staying in the Capital City, it sounded as if he was asking if she’d be marrying there.

She nodded, "My grandma lives in the Capital, so I probably won’t leave."

The two chatted casually; Bai Ruozhu thought she was about to say goodbye, but unexpectedly she lowered her voice and said, "Bai Ruozhu, a woman from the Su Family Village accused my uncle of inciting her daughter-in-law to have an affair. My uncle is very concerned about etiquette and rules, so I thought to remind you, in case anyone falsely accuses you."

Bai Ruozhu didn’t expect she was here to tip her off, surprised yet speechless. "Is that the Niu family’s mother-in-law? They’ve been clamoring to divorce their daughter-in-law for giving birth to a girl. Now they’ve achieved their goal, why are they blaming me?"

"That woman also said your exhumation case is a rumor-spreading demon talk. I know my uncle’s temper; these things will be reported to the Imperial Court. Other matters can be sorted, but on spreading demon talk, you must be cautious, or it might become someone’s topic to write about." Xue Zhi said.

"Thank you." Bai Ruozhu cupped her hands in gratitude. "Aren’t you afraid Xue Daren will be angry for telling me?"

Xue Zhi stuck her tongue out, "If you don’t speak, and I don’t either, how will he know?"

Bai Ruozhu laughed, "Thank you, I’ll be more careful."

"I won’t disturb you any longer, I’ll take my leave now." Xue Zhi briskly stood up and bid farewell.

In the evening, Jiang Yichun returned to the inn, and Bai Ruozhu shared the situation with him.

"Let Xue Wenhui investigate. I told him we’re leaving the day after tomorrow. Your tasks shouldn’t be delayed anymore," Jiang Yichun said.

"What did he say?" Bai Ruozhu asked.

"He said we’ll travel lightly; whatever the result, he will notify us. He won’t hold us back from leaving. If truly convicted, your second brother is in the Capital, if worse comes to worst. And it’s not a capital crime." Jiang Yichun helped fix her hair and suddenly pulled out a strand.

"Ah..." Bai Ruozhu exclaimed, "What are you doing? That hurts!"

Jiang Yichun showed the hair to her, "It was split-end."

Bai Ruozhu rolled her eyes; she thought it was gray hair.

"Can a split end not just be trimmed? Why pull my hair? You did it on purpose!" Bai Ruozhu said indignantly.

He laughed, poking her face with his finger, "I just love seeing you puffed up, looking annoyed without genuinely being mad."

"Do you believe I can be really mad right now?" Bai Ruozhu said.

"Not really."

Bai Ruozhu quickly grabbed his hairbun, "When it comes to pulling hair, have you heard that women are experts? Moreover, your hair isn’t shorter than mine."

Jiang Yichun burst out laughing, "Alright, alright, my dear wife, I surrender, please release my hair."

Bai Ruozhu messed up his hair before letting it go, Jiang Yichun’s hairbun was now in disarray.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door, "Dad, Mom, Grandpa asked you to come down for dinner."

Bai Ruozhu stifled her laughter and went to open the door. Little Dengdeng rushed inside wanting his dad to hold him, only to find his dad’s hairbun crooked with a helpless expression.

"Hahaha, Dad, were you hit by someone?" Little Dengdeng laughed aloud.

"Scratched by a cat," Jiang Yichun said begrudgingly.

"Where’s the cat? Where’s the cat?" Little Dengdeng’s eyes lit up; he hadn’t hugged Little Tutu in a while and now longed for a little pet.

Bai Ruozhu thought of the Ragdoll cat in the Space. She reached in and brought it out, placing it in Little Dengdeng’s arms.

"Her name is Xiuqiu, a Ragdoll cat, isn’t she cute?" She smiled and asked.

Little Dengdeng hugged tightly, rubbing against it, "So warm, this round thing like a ball, shouldn’t it be called Snowball?"

"It’s not entirely white. Look carefully." Jiang Yichun was fixing his hair as he explained to his son. His son’s tone seemed to be questioning his naming skills.

Little Dengdeng looked carefully and found the Ragdoll cat had a masked face, both beautiful and with a cool aura, its little nose was pink and adorably scrunched when inhaling, and those big blue eyes seemed to hold a myriad of stars.

"Mom, I want to sleep with Snowball tonight." Little Dengdeng said.

"It’s Xiuqiu!" Jiang Yichun persistently corrected.

"No, you’re restless when you sleep; you’ll squash Snowball." Bai Ruozhu replied.

A frustrated Jiang Yichun, "It’s Xiuqiu!"

"Won’t happen, Snowball and Tutu are smart, it’ll move away." Little Dengdeng stroked the Ragdoll cat’s head again. "Mom, you see, Snowball really likes me; it’s rubbing me. Oh, why is it purring?"

Bai Ruozhu laughed, "Cats purr when they’re content and comfortable; Snowball likes you."

"It’s Xiuqiu! Xiuqiu!" Jiang Yichun repeated in exasperation.

"Mom, let it sleep with me. With Snowball, I won’t ask you to accompany me at night." Little Dengdeng declared, "I’ll sleep by myself from now on."

"It’s Xiuqiu..." Jiang Yichun felt like going crazy, were mother and son deaf? They could filter his words automatically?

"You said it yourself, no backing out." Bai Ruozhu reluctantly let go of the freshly acquired Snowball to her son.

Whatever, the cat was hers and she’d get to cuddle it during the day.

The family of three went downstairs for dinner. Little Dengdeng now had a snowball of a cat in his arms, and Chushuang asked in surprise, "What’s this? A cat? Where did it come from?"

"Achun bought it from a Persian Merchant; Dengdeng liked it." Bai Ruozhu found an excuse.

Jiang Yichun was still wrought with displeasure, "It’s called Xiuqiu."

Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

"Call it Snowball, Snowball, Snowball!" Little Dengdeng shouted, "Look, it responds, it likes the name Snowball."

Bai Ruozhu continued to giggle; this creature previously liked the name Xiuqiu and now apparently liked Snowball just as much. Therefore, whether it’s called Snow or Xiu, what’s important is the ball - even if it were called Two-ball she might not oppose, right?

Wait, it’s a female; Two-ball seems a bit...
