Chapter 2946: Chapter 2947: Deadman’s Formation

"Who on earth did this? Our Sujia Village has never offended anyone, right? How could they be so heartless?" the Village Chief said angrily.

Su Zhen feared for his health and quickly patted his back to help him calm down, "Grandpa, don’t get angry. Maybe it’s because they’re jealous that our village has three memorial arches, famous far and wide, right?"

Bai Ruozhu felt it’s more likely aimed at her, trying to blow this matter up, then destroy the entire Sujia Village, and make her take the blame.

The Deadman’s Formation and the toothpaste controversy complemented each other, step by step, the opponent is an expert in calculation.

However, she couldn’t be sure, who would harden up and blame her, it’s better if she doesn’t speak too much.

"I’ll report this matter to the Emperor and dispatch someone to continue the investigation. You shouldn’t be too frightened, the Deadman’s Formation will be broken soon," Bai Ruozhu said.

The villagers thanked her profusely, saying this time they really troubled Bai Ruozhu and her team.

The Astrologer began the ritual and quickly dealt with the Magic Array under the coffin, but some virus-laced water had already seeped into Sujia Village’s underground well water, and who knows how many people had consumed it.

Bai Ruozhu checked the well water and then prescribed some Formulas for the villagers to drink Decoctions for three days.

"Don’t use the well water for the next ten days, it’s best not even for laundry, go borrow water from neighboring villages," she added, "After ten days it should be fine; underground water is continuously flowing."

The villagers breathed a sigh of relief, ten days without water wasn’t too hard to endure.

After a day and a half’s trouble, the matter was finally settled, the people of Sujia Village were uneasy, and the Qiao Family was even more scared, hardly going out in the following days.

Meanwhile, Gao Zhou and his troops arrived in Luohe City, along with the officials dispatched by the Emperor for investigation.

"I’ve dealt with the Bai Family before and paid attention to their movements over the years, so I know something about them. I believe there’s definitely more to this matter," Inspector Xue Wenhui said to Gao Zhou with a bow, "Medical Saint, I shall take my leave now."

"Thank you, Inspector Xue," Gao Zhou replied with a bow.

Years ago, Gao Zhou traveled under the identity of the Medical Saint and coincidentally treated Xue Wenhui, so they had a bit of a relationship. When the Emperor assigned Inspector Xue Wenhui to investigate this matter, Gao Zhou seized the opportunity to greet him.

"Grandpa, let’s go, I miss my mom!" Little Dengdeng tugged at his sleeve, urging him.

Gao Zhou widened his eyes, "Don’t you miss your dad?"

"I do! Grandpa, you’re arguing with a little child, aren’t you afraid of being laughed at?" Little Dengdeng asked.

Gao Zhou wanted to continue bantering with him but was stopped by a glare from Chushuang, "Enough, don’t waste time now, everyone’s waiting for you."

Gao Zhou got on the horse carriage, and the team proceeded, finding an inn in Luohe City.

The group dismounted from the horse carriage and secured guest rooms from the shopkeeper.

Just as they settled down, Jiang Yichun rushed in like a gust of wind.

"Dengdeng, let Dad see if you’ve gained weight?" He picked his son up, amusing Little Dengdeng until he giggled.

"No, not fat, it’s just been a few days, I don’t want to get fat!" Little Dengdeng said while laughing.

Chushuang complained nearby, "You always say the child is fat, so he refuses to eat more, afraid of becoming chubby."

Jiang Yichun laughed, "Growing up, it doesn’t matter to be a bit chubby."

Little Dengdeng turned his face away, "I just don’t want to be fat, I want muscles."

He looked behind Jiang Yichun, "Where’s my mom? Why didn’t she come?"

"Your mom went to treat and save people, she’ll come over in a few days. That village is experiencing an Epidemic, spreading specifically among children, so your mom is afraid it’ll spread to you. She’ll join us in a few days," Jiang Yichun explained.

Little Dengdeng pouted, "I’m not afraid, I want to treat and save people too."

Jiang Yichun patted his head, "Good boy, if you get sick, you’ll hurt us too much, and your mom would be upset and blame herself."

Little Dengdeng, being an understanding child, though disappointed, didn’t complain further.

"Yichun, what’s going on with Sujia Village?" Gao Zhou asked.

Jiang Yichun quickly shared details about the hand-foot-mouth issue and the latest news he had received.

"There’s such a thing? Did you communicate with the Emperor?" Gao Zhou inquired.

"Just transmitted the message before you arrived," Jiang Yichun replied.

"The Emperor dispatched Xue Wenhui over here, I have a bit of a relationship with him, explained things earlier, you should go see him too," Gao Zhou said.

Jiang Yichun laughed, "No need to explain much, Inspector Xue’s probably made a wasted trip."

"Oh?" Gao Zhou looked at him puzzled.

"Two days ago, Su Family members carried the fencing plank to apologize, they paraded through Luohe City, apologizing to the Bai Family. Now everyone in Luohe City knows it was a misunderstanding back then. Numerous citizens initially returned toothpaste, now huge crowds are coming back to purchase again, business has been booming for two days," Jiang Yichun laughed.

Gao Zhou could hardly believe his ears, "How did they change their minds so fast and even apologize in public?"

"Thanks to Ruozhu’s virtue to win them over." Jiang Yichun laughed proudly, just short of directly praising his wife.

.....

In Luohe City, a man angrily said to his subordinates, "I want them isolated and deserted, only then will they leave Danliang Country and head to Chengshui, look now it’s meaningless!"

"Please calm down, Lord, it’s my incompetence," the subordinate said, kneeling.

The man snorted coldly, "Others benefitted while we harmed Sujia Village, and you noticed nothing, what’s the point of having you?"

The subordinate broke out in sweat and said trembling, "I beg you to give this servant a chance to redeem himself."

"Fine, I’ll give you one last chance, make them willingly return to Chengshui," the man said.

"This..." The subordinate hesitated but agreed.

To make them willingly return to Chengshui, he could only capture people they cared about, but Gao Zhou’s crew are all skilled in Martial Arts...

The subordinate steeled himself, it was the only way.

.....

Over at Sujia Village, Bai Ruozhu received the message that Gao Zhou, Chushuang with Little Dengdeng, the Luo Family, and others have arrived in Luohe City. Seeing her tasks here were almost done, she listed all subsequent necessary points and handed them to Su Zhen.

"Lord Bai, are you leaving?" Su Zhen asked reluctantly.

"I have duties to attend in the Western Regions, can’t stay long. There’s no feast that doesn’t eventually disperse; we will meet again if fate allows," Bai Ruozhu said.

"Alright, I’ll inform Grandpa and the others," Su Zhen said.

Upon hearing Bai Ruozhu was leaving, nearly everyone in Sujia Village came.

The treated children started crying one by one, unwilling for Bai Ruozhu and the others to depart.
