After Jianqi left, Diao Shengyan checked on Jiang Yichun’s condition. Having been detoxified, his body felt weak, and his arm was in pain, resulting in more sleep now.

She instructed Muyu to take good care of Jiang Yichun and then went to find Aosong to go out.

"Where are we headed? To deal with that Sun lady?" Aosong seemed eager, almost more impatient than Bai Ruozhu herself.

Bai Ruozhu laughed, "Why deal with her? We’re going to check on the Luo Family."

"Oh." Feeling uninterested, Aosong couldn’t help but ask again, "Do you really think it’s okay to leave Luo Family unchecked? She’s not suited to stay in the city for long."

"I’m also worried, but right now she can’t make any moves," Bai Ruozhu pursed her lips, "If we could transfer those Wandering Souls to Cliff Village so they can’t return to Xunyang City, it might be much better."

The room was in a mess; tables and chairs had fallen, and shards of bowls and dishes were scattered everywhere, as if a fierce struggle had just occurred.

Fang Qing sat to one side, while Aluo lay on the floor, unsure of what happened.

Luo Family’s hair was disheveled, her face covered as she cried in deep sorrow.

"Auntie, what’s wrong?" Not wanting to startle her, Bai Ruozhu spoke softly as she slowly approached.

Upon hearing her voice, Luo Family looked up, revealing her swollen red eyes, "Ruozhu, they’re all gone!"

After speaking, she embraced Bai Ruozhu’s waist and broke out into tears, seemingly needing to release all her emotions.

Bai Ruozhu felt a pang in her heart, gently stroking her hair, and soothingly reassured her, "It’s okay, everything will be alright."

Aosong went over and squatted for a closer look, her expression changing subtly, she signaled to Bai Ruozhu and mouthed: "Turned into wooden figures."

Bai Ruozhu’s eyes widened, realizing it wasn’t that they had turned into wooden figures, but that they were wooden figures all along!

"Chushuang?" Luo Family raised her head to look at Bai Ruozhu, "Aqing in his dying breath was talking about his sister, apologizing for not protecting her well, but alas, now Aqing can no longer see."

This statement made her even sadder, tears flowing uninterrupted.

"They can still come back to life," Aosong suddenly said.

Bai Ruozhu turned to her, "Do you have a way?"

"They were made from the previous year’s Hao Mu; the larger one is problematic, but the smaller one has developed intelligence, which is what people often refer to as becoming animate, so there’s hope for saving them." Aosong looked at Luo Family, "It just depends if you want to save them."

Luo Family was stunned, and after a while, looked at Bai Ruozhu, asking, "If they come back, will they continue to be controlled by that person? Will they hurt you?"

Bai Ruozhu’s heart trembled; even amidst her sorrow and longing for companionship, desperate to escape loneliness, her immediate concern was for Bai Ruozhu’s safety. Luo Family truly was a kind soul, which was why Fang Qing had given her his blood before he died, knowing she wouldn’t use the Merfolk’s special abilities to harm anyone.

"I can’t say for sure; they should be creations of the Thousand-eyed Monster, and the possibility of future control is unknown." Aosong said.

Luo Family hastily shook her head, "No, I won’t risk harming Ruozhu for my own benefit, besides, they’re not really Fang Qing or Aluo, I’ve been deceiving myself all along."

With that, her eyes reddened again.

"Aluo has some spirit; I couldn’t bear it either." Bai Ruozhu said, looking at the small figure lying on the ground.

"This time, let’s not be soft-hearted." Aosong thought a while and suggested, "Or you could take these two pieces of wood with you, observe for a period, and if there’s no problem, then find a way to revive them."

This was a compromise, at least in Luo Family’s mind, she wouldn’t directly feel abandoning them, and it might provide some relief.

Luo Family was somewhat swayed, "But if I leave, what about everyone here..."
