Chapter 2894: Chapter 2895: Influence

"Later, I found out that your men were investigating those dancing girls. I felt a bit uneasy, so I got Gao De to bring me here to confess," Niu Butou continued.

Gao De whispered mysteriously by his side, "Master, could it be a Fox Immortal? I’ve heard that Fox Immortals possess women, then go on to charm young men. Once possessed by a Fox Immortal, a woman becomes extremely alluring, and the Charm Technique is irresistible."

He snapped back and added with a dry laugh, "But Lord Jiang is different, unaffected by her."

Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but laugh, "Fox Immortals are just rumors, but maybe demons are possible."

She called a dark guard, "Go find Aofeng and the Astrologer; I have questions for them."

The dark guard went to find them, while Niu Butou and Gao De were curious, so Bai Ruozhu explained Aofeng and the Astrologer’s identities.

"That’s great, with a grandmaster here, there’s nothing to fear," Gao De exclaimed happily.

Before finishing a cup of tea, Ao Song and the Astrologer arrived.

"Where did you first detect traces of the Dream Demon you were trying to catch that day?" Bai Ruozhu asked.

"We went to see the Luo Family, then sensed Demon Qi, so we chased it to City North. Afterward, she fled into the mountains, particularly cunning," Ao Song said grinding her teeth. To her, it was a disgrace, putting so much effort into capturing a Little Demon and still failing.

Gao De widened his eyes, "Niu Butou’s family lives in City North!"

"What’s the matter?" the Astrologer asked.

Bai Ruozhu briefly spoke about Niu Butou’s discovery, now nearly confirmed—that the Dream Demon was hidden on the songstress.

"It seems like it’s not an ordinary Dream Demon, entering human bodies and even knowing the art of enchantment," the Astrologer said.

"I’ve even come face-to-face with her and yet let her go," Bai Ruozhu sighed, "Thinking back, with my temper, I should at least have given her a good beating. She dared to sneakingly enter my room, and I let her go so easily."

She felt a bit annoyed. She had said Achun was becoming less cautious, yet she herself fell for the trap.

"After all, it’s a demon from Fusang; you’re unfamiliar, so it’s understandable," the Astrologer said.

"Yeah, we both failed to catch her; it’s quite puzzling," Ao Song muttered, "But no worries, we’ll catch her sooner or later."

Niu Butou seemed to understand; the dancing girl was likely fine, but a Fusang demon was attached to her, making it significantly noteworthy as it slipped right under his nose. Thinking about it, he was somewhat frightened, almost becoming a meal for a demon.

Originally, he blamed his wife for acting too rashly, directly selling the person off; thinking about it now seemed to reduce some trouble.

"I understand the situation now; you two go ahead, no need to dwell on it," Bai Ruozhu said to Niu Butou and Gao De.

"Alright, we’ll take our leave," Gao De said with a salute, and Niu Butou followed suit.

After they left, Ao Song asked the Astrologer, "What’s your plan? Leaving your Fusang demon unchecked?"

The Astrologer was speechless, "Am I responsible for every Fusang demon? Then if Western Regions has bad people or monsters, are you responsible?"

"Hey, are you arguing?" Ao Song shot back with widened eyes. What was with this person, taking her words so seriously?

Bai Ruozhu felt awkward; with the two bickering, she seemed like a third wheel.

"You two discuss slowly; I’ll check on Achun’s injury. I’m not really knowledgeable about capturing demons," she quickly found an excuse to leave.

Not long after she left, those two actually began fighting. She initially wanted to return to stop them but noticed they weren’t serious, more like sparring, so she didn’t disturb them.

Upon returning to the room, she found Achun still sleeping, yet his forehead was beaded with sweat.

How could he sweat in this weather that wasn’t hot?

She quickly walked over to examine him and discovered his inner strength was somewhat chaotic.

"Achun, wake up, what’s the matter?" she softly called.

Jiang Yichun slowly opened his eyes, his lips trembling as he said, "It’s nothing."

"Is your arm hurting?" She worriedly inquired, "Don’t keep saying it’s nothing; you should tell the doctor the truth, or how will treatment proceed?"

"It’s quite painful, but I feel it won’t be paralyzed. Think about it; my arm is a bit uncoordinated, feeling dull, yet the pain is so evident now. It might not be all bad," Jiang Yichun replied.

His condition was rather unique, probably related to that poison, but "Poison Classic" didn’t mention this, leaving Bai Ruozhu unsure.

"I’ll give you some acupuncture; if it hurts a lot, you must say so. Don’t endure it stubbornly," she seriously advised.

"Okay, I understand,"

She picked up her hairpin, removed a silver needle from within, and Jiang Yichun’s eyes carried a hint of a smile. The hairpin was a gift from him over two years ago. Regardless of acquiring more precious ones, or choosing other ways to store silver needles, she consistently wore the hairpin.

Even the pocket watch against her chest was his gift from years ago; she carefully wore it all this time. Despite owning many good things now, her favorite was still this.

Hiss... He was lost in thought, suddenly felt pain and couldn’t help but inhale sharply.

"Is it more painful?" Bai Ruozhu asked anxiously.

"Sharp pain, the meridian seems on the verge of snapping," Jiang Yichun replied.

Bai Ruozhu steadied her heart and slowly applied another needle.

This time, Jiang Yichun let out a muffled groan; unless the pain was intense, he could usually endure it.

"Is it more painful?" she hurriedly asked.

"Yes..." he answered with difficulty.

Bai Ruozhu slowly withdrew the silver needle, making Jiang Yichun feel a bit relieved, yet he said to her, "I can surely endure it; you might try another two needles."

"There’s no need to try again; now your arm’s meridian, because of earlier poisoning, has undergone some changes. The pain may persist for a while, and whether the outcome is good or bad, I can’t determine."

"It’s okay, it’s just an arm, not as if it’s a fresh wound," he said with a smile.

Bai Ruozhu’s eyes slightly reddened, "I’ll take you to soak in the hot spring; it might offer some comfort."

"Alright."

She led him into the Spatial Hot Spring, letting him soak for a quarter of an hour. Indeed, he felt the pain diminish somewhat, yet it didn’t vanish.

Once they emerged from the Space, Jianqi had already searched for Bai Ruozhu several times.

"How is it?" Bai Ruozhu asked calmly, facing Jianqi’s surprised gaze.

Jianqi immediately thought of her secret, quickly regaining composure.

"I’ve already sent someone to deal with it; Ding Mama turned out to be as concerned as the master thought and has gone to persuade Madam Sun. However, Madam Sun has contacted some people and now intends to petition His Majesty."

"Oh?" Bai Ruozhu raised an eyebrow; Madam Sun does have quite the influence.
