Chapter 2888: Chapter 2889: Tang Yin Assassinated

"I don’t know you, not helping you is my duty. If you’re not satisfied, go find the person who sent you to the brothel." Bai Ruozhu continued.

"You’re lying! You clearly know me!" Kuai Xian shouted, her face twisted.

Bai Ruozhu smiled, "Then do you know my name? Do you know who I am?"

Kuai Xian was stunned. That night, she only told her own situation; Bai Ruozhu had never introduced herself, and her guards only called her ’Master.’

"I, I..." Kuai Xian couldn’t say a word. The two strong men glanced at each other, showing disdainful smiles, and quickly dragged her away.

"If you don’t save me, I’ll haunt you even as a ghost!" Kuai Xian cried out unwillingly, even when she was far away.

Bai Ruozhu pulled Ao Song aside to find a place to sit, and laughed, "If she had begged earnestly to save me, I might have changed my mind. But she scolded me like that; I can’t be swayed by force."

"I don’t think begging would work." Ao Song looked at her with admiration, "Let her suffer in such a place, let her understand what shouldn’t be done."

"Indeed, Achun always says I’m soft-hearted. She almost killed Wei Ba; not killing her was already polite." Bai Ruozhu said.

Ao Song took a bite of food and said, "No need to dirty your hands, let her reap what she sows. You’re right, she should blame the person who sent her to the brothel, which is herself, isn’t it? She deserves what she got."

They had just left the restaurant after eating when they noticed many people on the street hurrying around; something seemed off.

"What’s going on?" Bai Ruozhu asked.

The street people were hastily avoiding them, appearing eager to get home quickly.

"Let’s go back too." She started to feel uneasy.

At that moment, a guard rushed over on horseback, and upon seeing her, he visibly relaxed.

The guard dismounted, saluted her and Ao Song, "Bai Master, there was an assassination attempt at the guest palace just now, and Lord Jiang was injured saving the emperor. They want you to hurry back."

"Achun got hurt?" Bai Ruozhu’s heart skipped a beat, they specially sought her out; could his wound be serious?

Without waiting for the guard to respond, Bai Ruozhu grabbed his horse and mounted it, "I’ll go ahead."

Ao Song watched her silhouette in a daze, regained composure quickly, and asked the guard, "Is her man badly injured?"

"Her man"—wasn’t that Lord Jiang? The guard thought; Miss Zhong really didn’t care for decorum. These Western Region folks truly lacked sense.

"Not serious, just a cut wound." The guard replied.

Ao Song was speechless, "Why didn’t you clarify earlier, look how you scared Sister Ruozhu."

"Huh?" The guard was equally speechless; he was simply reporting truthfully.

Bai Ruozhu rushed back to the guest house in one breath and stormed inside, demanding, "Where is Jiang Yichun?"

Her aggressive entrance, coupled with her fierce tone, frightened many who stepped aside and pointed inside.

She charged into the main hall of the guest house, only to find the city officials and Tang Yin’s confidants present. Jiang Yichun sat at the lower right, with a blood-stained mark on his sleeve.

She walked quickly over, "How did you get hurt?"

Jiang Yichun lit up upon seeing her, "Are you alright?"

"I’m fine, I wasn’t the one targeted in the assassination." She eyed his arm, her mood darkening.

"I was worried they might act on both fronts, so I sent someone to notify you quickly." Jiang Yichun explained.

Bai Ruozhu frowned and grabbed his wrist.

Knowing Achun, if he was worried she was in danger, even if injured, he would personally come for her. After all, Tang Yin’s side wasn’t short on guards.

But he didn’t come for her, something must have prevented him.

"Poisoned?" Bai Ruozhu frowned, "The enemy’s sword is poisoned?"

Jiang Yichun chuckled awkwardly, "You can’t hide anything from you. I took the detoxification pills you gave me; I’m fine."

"Fine, my ass!" She shouted, shaking everyone in the hall.

"Master Yu, the emperor is still here, please be mindful!" Sun Zhou angrily spoke up.

Bai Ruozhu didn’t turn her head, "None of your damn business!"

"Absurd, absurd, how can you be so brazen?" Sun Zhou yelled in anger.

"Shut up!" Bai Ruozhu snapped, then turned to Jiang Yichun, "The poison seems neutralized, but its toxins have already attacked your heart meridian. If I had come back any later, within 15 minutes, you would have died from a heart rupture. Can’t you figure, if someone wants to assassinate, would they use ordinary poison?"

She viciously stared at him and quickly took out her silver needle, pulling open Jiang Yichun’s clothes, exposing his chest, and inserted the needles one by one.

Tang Yin stepped closer, worriedly asking, "Is there a way to detox? What medicinal materials are needed?"

"Thousand-year-old Ganoderma." Bai Ruozhu replied without raising her head.

Sun Zhou grumbled disdainfully, "Playing tricks, the imperial physician just said it’s fine, how do we know if it’s really severe poison?"

With a whoosh, a silver needle flew towards Sun Zhou, who didn’t even have time to dodge and was directly hit in the neck.

"Yeah, who knows if I’m telling the truth? This needle has Achun’s blood on it; let’s see if you’ll get poisoned." Bai Ruozhu continued administering the needles while speaking. Her technique was swift, even her earlier needle throwing was quick, only Tang Yin, who was closest, saw it clearly.

He could have stopped her, but he really didn’t want to. Sun Zhou lacked insight.

"You, you, you’re too arrogant, this is an attempt on an imperial court officer!" Sun Zhou cried out in terror as he yanked out the needle.

"Shut up!" Tang Yin finally exploded, "I’m still here; who allowed you to shout?"

The emperor’s ire made everyone’s heart jump, and they knelt one by one.

Tang Yin was genuinely angry. He arrived only to face an assassination attempt, and the assassin disguised as someone from the guest palace. Earlier these Xunyang City officials were apologizing for negligent management, allowing the assassin to exploit the gap. But looked differently, who’s to say none of them colluded with the assassin?

He initially thought it was resolved, but Jiang Yichun ended up severely poisoned. If Jiang Yichun hadn’t taken the dark arrow for him, he would be in critical condition.

He worried about Jiang Yichun’s safety, feeling some regret. Yet Sun Zhou wouldn’t relent from pestering Bai Ruozhu, failing to see she was saving lives?

"Huo Gui, send someone to find the thousand-year-old Ganoderma immediately!" Tang Yin ordered.

"Yes." Huo Gui responded and quickly left.

At this point, Bai Ruozhu had stopped needling and moved behind Jiang Yichun, using inner strength on his back, aiding in toxin expulsion bit by bit.

"Emperor, please send for Achun’s father. I alone don’t have enough inner strength." Bai Ruozhu’s expression was solemn, clearly indicating the situation wasn’t good.

Her medical skills were impressive; her expertise in using and neutralizing toxins was even more renowned. But not acting as casually as usual suggested Jiang Yichun’s poison was extremely troubling.
