Chapter 2885 - 2886: Filial Piety Comes First in All Matters
Chapter 2885: Chapter 2886: Filial Piety Comes First in All Matters
"This place isn’t..." Zhao Shu hadn’t finished speaking before he was pulled over by the Astrologer, who whispered a warning, "Don’t say too much."
"Huh, who is he? He’s not from the village, is he?" Elder Zhao San looked at the Astrologer and asked.
The Astrologer replied with a cold face, "Immortal family."
As he spoke, Yin Fire ignited in his palm. Yin Fire doesn’t harm wandering souls; instead, it makes them feel very comfortable. Elder Zhao San happily moved a bit closer and said in awe, "Indeed, encountering an Immortal in the Immortal Land. Please accept my bow, Immortal."
Saying this, he knelt and kowtowed, and by the time he got back up, both the Astrologer and Zhao Shu had disappeared.
Elder Zhao San pondered how impressive the Immortal was, coming and going without a trace. How did that kid Zhao Shu get noticed by the Immortal?
Zhao Shu was pulled over to a place where no one was around, gasping for air. After a while, he looked at Bai Ruozhu and asked, "I knew the Immortal Land was a scam, but I didn’t expect them to be in Xunyang City. Why didn’t you let me speak up just now?"
"He’s a wandering soul. Once stimulated, unlike us humans who can get angry and vent, they might scatter their souls, or their resentment might be too heavy, turning into an Evil Spirit, which could drive them to go around killing people. It’s best not to let them know for now," the Astrologer explained.
Zhao Shu recalled what the elder said about Vicious Ghosts and shivered involuntarily, thankful that this Master saved him.
He suddenly knelt with a thud, "Thank you, sir, for saving my life. Please take me as your disciple!"
Ao Song said sourly from the side, "He’s taken a liking to you as a master. Nowadays, it’s really all about looks."
"Are you complimenting the Astrologer for being handsome?" Bai Ruozhu asked with a smile.
Ao Song’s face turned red, "No, I was just speaking casually."
The Astrologer also seemed a bit awkward and avoided Zhao Shu, saying, "I’m not one who studies the Dao. I use Fusang’s Yin Yang Techniques, which you may not be able to learn."
Zhao Shu refused to get up and kneeled a few more steps, "Please let me try. If I turn out to be truly dull-witted, I won’t trouble you anymore."
"Alright, I’ll teach you some basics when we get back." The Astrologer had never taken a disciple before; the several servants beside him didn’t count as disciples, and he’d recently sent them out for training. Having an extra disciple now wasn’t a bad thing.
It’s just that Zhao Shu was a bit too old to start and was entering late.
The group moved on a bit further and soon saw a woman, whom even the Astrologer remembered.
At this moment, a group of children was playing and laughing as they approached, and Bai Ruozhu quickly said to the others, "Let’s go, don’t let those kids see us."
The group immediately retreated, and once they were gone, Aluo and his friends came over.
He scratched his head, muttered, "Strange, I felt like the pretty sister was just here."
"What pretty sister?" a kid next to him asked.
"The sister who came to find me last time, though her husband looks a bit fierce," Aluo replied.
The other kids scratched their heads, "Why don’t we remember that?"
Aluo said, displeased, "Why is your memory so bad? You always forget everything; every time I talk about it, you don’t remember. Do you have amnesia?"
...
Bai Ruozhu and the group returned to the guest house, and Little Dengdeng rushed up to her, hugging her and saying, "Mom, you ran off again. Don’t you want Dengdeng anymore?"
Seeing her son acting all spoiled and aggrieved, her heart melted. She quickly picked up Little Dengdeng and said, "How could I not want Dengdeng? Even if I don’t want your dad, I would never not want our Little Dengdeng."
Jiang Yichun had just returned from the Emperor. As soon as he entered, he heard her words, and the corner of his mouth twitched. It seemed his wife was still mad at him, putting him on the "not wanted" list.
"What happened when you went up the mountain?" Gao Zhou asked.
Jiang Yichun invited everyone to sit, giving a brief explanation that left Gao Zhou and Chushuang astonished. They hadn’t expected such strange things to exist in the world.
"Is this the child from Cliff Village?" Gao Zhou looked at Zhao Shu and asked.
"Yes, this child discovered that the one confusing them was a Demon, but no one believed him. So he pretended to be foolish for ten years," Bai Ruozhu said. "Now he’s learning Yin Yang Techniques from the Astrologer, hoping to save his parents in the future."
Chushuang sighed, "Actually, saving people isn’t difficult. The problem is these people have already been deceived. The Demon has become their faith, and if we can’t wake them up, forcibly rescuing them could be troublesome."
"I just discussed this with His Majesty," Jiang Yichun said. "He wants us to move the Luo Family and those wandering souls to Cliff Village. Though the souls haven’t disturbed the people and have remained peaceful, they’ve been controlled by the Thousand-eyed Monster, and who knows what trouble might arise in the future."
Everyone expressed agreement; this was no ordinary coincidence but involved a highly cunning and elusive Demon lurking behind the scenes, demanding caution.
Everyone was tired from the journey, so after chatting for a bit, they each retreated to their rooms, with Zhao Shu arranged to stay next to the Astrologer.
Little Dengdeng clung to his mother’s hand, "Mom, I want to sleep with you tonight."
Chushuang worried Bai Ruozhu might be too tired to rest well and quickly said, "Our Dengdeng is a big boy now; he can’t sleep with his mom anymore."
"My mom is a woman, but Grandma, you’re also a woman. If I can’t sleep with Mom, why can I sleep with you?" Dengdeng retorted.
Chushuang was instantly stumped and thought, well, she should have come up with a different reason. This child is too clever.
Gao Zhou lightly smacked Dengdeng on the butt, of course, without using any force.
"Do you think I want you squeezing in the middle? I’m only worried about safety when you sleep alone, yet here you are being picky."
Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but smile at this little family argument, stroking Dengdeng’s head, she said, "Alright, tonight Dengdeng can sleep with me and let Dad and Mom rest a bit."
"Okay, just call us if you need help," Chushuang said.
Bai Ruozhu took Dengdeng’s little hand and went back to their room. Little Dengdeng washed up by himself and even fetched the foot wash for his mother.
"Mom, let me wash your feet," Little Dengdeng said, being especially sweet and obedient.
"You get into bed. When Mom gets old and can’t bend over easily, you can wash them," Bai Ruozhu laughed. Having such a cute son was truly a blessing from Heaven.
"No way!" Little Dengdeng stubbornly replied, "I’ll wash now; otherwise, I’ll forget how to do it later, and you’ll spoil me."
He said this while squatting down to help Bai Ruozhu take off her shoes and socks, looking like a little adult, he earnestly said, "Mom, you should be more strict with my brothers too. A loving mother often spoils her children, and if they’re not taught to be filial now, it’ll be too late when they grow up!"
"Filial piety comes first in all things. If they turn out badly, I won’t recognize them as brothers."
Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but laugh; where did this child learn all this stuff? Once he started talking, he couldn’t stop. Would he become a chatterbox in the future?
After washing, Little Dengdeng dried his mother’s feet, took the water out to dump it, then returned to bed and soon was breathing evenly in sleep.
