Abandoned Woman Busy Farming
Chapter 2871 - 2872: Reliable Dengdeng
Chapter 2871: Chapter 2872: Reliable Dengdeng
"You think I’m you?" Jiang Yichun covered his forehead, "I wasn’t wearing clothes at the time either."
Tang Yin couldn’t help but laugh, "I mean, what’s the point of walking around naked in broad daylight? Anyone could take advantage of that."
Jiang Yichun remained silent. Why did he have to explain these things to this stallion Emperor? Yes, stallion, as Ruozhu called people like him over there.
Tang Yin finally stopped laughing and put on a serious face, "I’ve barely managed to get rid of Sun Zhou, and you need to talk to Bai Ruozhu about not randomly beating up Imperial Court officials."
"Not going to say anything, she’d beat me up too," Jiang Yichun replied gloomily.
Tang Yin stifled another laugh, "But you shouldn’t beat them publicly, where’s your cleverness gone?"
Jiang Yichun was speechless. When he’s angry, how can he care about anything else? Besides, his wife Bai is still fuming.
At this moment, Bai Ruozhu went out alone, planning to find Ao Song for a meal. As for Jiang Yichun, she’ll let him stew for a while.
But she didn’t find Ao Song; instead, she ran into an acquaintance.
"Sir Bai, I heard you’ve arrived in Xunyang City, I didn’t expect to actually bump into you," Gao De said excitedly, "I was just saying I wanted to thank you face to face. My young son was sick recently, and the Medical Alliance gave free checkups. The medicine costs were reasonable, much better than the old Yong’an Hall."
"Has he recovered?" Bai Ruozhu asked with a smile.
"He’s all better, just caught a cold and coughed. Kids are prone to relapses, can’t be too careful," Gao De said.
Bai Ruozhu nodded, "Right, you have to take care of them carefully. How have things been lately?"
"Thanks to you and Lord Jiang, everything’s quite good," Gao De replied with a smile.
"You’re not on duty, are you? Let me treat you to a meal," Bai Ruozhu said.
"I was just heading home, so I gladly accept," Gao De agreed promptly.
Bai Ruozhu found a nearby restaurant, ordered a few small dishes with Gao De, and chatted while eating.
He talked about the Fang Family, always paying attention to the situation without speaking much to others.
"By the way, Sir Bai, you should be careful of Lord Sun Zhou," Gao De suddenly lowered his voice.
"Sun Zhou?" Bai Ruozhu sneered, "I just beat him up today."
Gao De was shocked, "What? You hit him? Now the grudge is deeper, won’t he hate you even more?"
"Hate me more?" Bai Ruozhu raised an eyebrow, "I haven’t offended him before, right?"
"You don’t know, do you? Sun Zhou’s family has practiced medicine for generations. They have a clinic and pharmacy business that’s been doing well. He took the imperial exams and became an officer, returning to our Xunyang City. With his support, the Sun Family’s clinic became famous here until the Medical Alliance appeared," Gao De explained slowly.
It turned out that Sun Family’s clinic and pharmacy prices weren’t low, making it hard for ordinary people to afford medical care. Then the Medical Alliance opened a branch in Xunyang City, offering free clinics monthly, with cheap medicines, so people slowly stopped going to Sun Family’s Yong’an Hall.
The Sun Family’s business dwindled quickly. Sun Zhou thought about dealing with the Medical Alliance, but it developed fast and wasn’t profit-driven, so he couldn’t grab any handles on them.
Bai Ruozhu listened and nodded secretly, she would have to meet the branch leader here soon, they’re quite capable.
"So, I blocked his money path. He tried to monopolize the market using his power, but failed and holds a grudge? Surely it’s because their prices are high that people stopped going? The Medical Alliance doesn’t hold free clinics every day, not snatching anyone’s business. It just means his business wasn’t well managed," Bai Ruozhu said.
"Exactly, without the Medical Alliance, visiting Yong’an Hall for treatment would cost my family a fortune. Even with an officer’s salary, ordinary people can’t afford it," Gao De said.
Since Bai Ruozhu understood the situation, she wouldn’t let Sun Zhou off easily. This wasn’t a misunderstanding over some dancing girls given in the officialdom; this was a deliberate target on her. If she didn’t take a stand, she might as well leave Danliang Country.
She chatted a bit more with Gao De before returning to the Guest House.
Chushuang waited with Little Dengdeng, who darted towards her when he saw her, hugging her leg, "Mom, I heard you argued with Dad?"
"Who told you that? You’re worrying about too many things for a kid," Bai Ruozhu said amused.
"Someone saw a woman leaving Dad’s room without clothes. Is Dad abandoning us, trying to find me a stepmother?" Little Dengdeng pouted, his cheeks swelling like buns, lips pursed tight.
Bai Ruozhu was a bit embarrassed. How did the child know so much? Chushuang was right there, her legitimate mother-in-law.
Chushuang coughed dryly and said with a smile, "My fault for not watching the child, letting him hear these rumors."
"Mom, you’re already working hard taking care of Dengdeng, I should be thanking you," Bai Ruozhu said quickly. Since arriving in Xunyang City, she and Jiang Yichun had been busy handling the Luo Family’s issues, leaving Little Dengdeng in Gao Zhou and Chushuang’s care.
Little Dengdeng said angrily, "Mom, you haven’t answered me yet. Grandma said she would teach Dad a lesson, what if Dad doesn’t listen? They say once a man’s heart changes, even nine oxen can’t pull him back."
"Who told you that?" Bai Ruozhu frowned, sensing something was off.
"The maids at the Guest House, they’re all talking about it. Hmph, I’m not speaking to Dad anymore!" Little Dengdeng said defiantly.
This is clearly someone intentionally spreading rumors to add fuel to the fire, making things seem true, causing more trouble for her.
She didn’t have many enemies in Xunyang City, only Sun Zhou came to mind when considering this.
"Your dad isn’t that kind of person, don’t believe those random words," Chushuang said, glaring at Little Dengdeng.
Bai Ruozhu patted her son’s head and asked gently, "Do you believe your dad or those outsiders?"
Little Dengdeng hesitated, recalling his dad’s goodness, "Of course I believe Dad."
"That’s right," Bai Ruozhu smiled, "Many things in this world can’t be trusted from just one side; you need to think with this and not be misled."
As she said, she pointed to Little Dengdeng’s chest.
"I understand, Mom," Little Dengdeng suddenly smiled, "I see, Mom isn’t angry, she trusts Dad, so I’m relieved."
Hey, this kid wasn’t fooled by rumors at all but came to persuade her instead.
Bai Ruozhu was both amused and annoyed; at such a young age, he already knew how to use tactics, incredible indeed.
Not far away, Jiang Yichun hiding in the corner behind the wall breathed a sigh of relief—his son was so discerning and reliable at crucial moments, maybe he wouldn’t have to sleep in the yard tonight.
Shortly afterward, Chushuang took Little Dengdeng to rest, and Jiang Yichun pretended to have just returned from outside.
"Heard enough?" Bai Ruozhu glared at him fiercely.
"Ah?" Uh-oh, his wife was too sharp; she noticed him hiding on the side.
