chapter 203 – Terran in Neorust(4)

“Fun android dissection time with Claire!” As soon as Kang Shin-hyuk brought her the enemy, Claire sat down and got to work. Kang Shin-hyuk stood beside her and fired upon the undead falling from thesky.

“Claire, the battle isn’t over yet.”

“Then broadcast the news on the radio.”

“Thank you so much for your help.” Kang Shin-hyuk left the evil android to Claire and began to deal with the zombies running wild after the android’s defeat. Of course, Claire was also helping in the clean-up with the drone’s autonomous maneuvering function. A deep fog was spreading over the dark sky, and some of the zombies evolved into ghouls. The residents became tense upon seeing the ghouls but soon let out sighs and began to mutter when they saw Kang Shin-hyuk clearing them all up alone.

“How the hell does he penetrate the ghouls’ hard skin soeasily?”

“It’ll be a while for our garbage fusion guns to catch up…”

“What happened to the undead before?”

“They didn’t seem to have been killed.” A night of undead, corpse rain, and fog. If that were normal, then, of course, the appearance of ghouls now wouldn’t trigger a special alarm. Even when the undead core appeared, the residents just readied to abandon their homes and leave the city. Yet the bartender’s boyfriend (or at least that’s how they viewed him) intercepted it and destroyed it. Even when the three undead cores fused together, he had taken care of them.

“The ghoul… aren’t they a little more than A-class in terms of magic? But why couldn’t I take care of it with one shot? How can they withstand an SSS-class weapon?” That very same boyfriend was complaining about things that the others would be frightenedby.

-They aren’t ordinary ghouls. Their skin contains fine metal particles.

Well, that made sense, given the evil android had also been an undead.

“Which means they can’t be judged simply by magic power.”

-A 150,000HP bonus for your astonishing judgment!

While Kang Shin-hyuk tuned out the administrator and cleaned up the undead, Claire was dissecting the android with a hum.

“Shin-hyuk, do you think I can control this?”

“Do you need surgical assistance?”

“Just don’t let any of the contents spill out.”

“Okay, that’s it.” The evil android flinched every time Claire put a knight into it, despite it being deactivated. However, Claire continued to work. It wasn’t a pleasant scene to watch, so Shin-hyuk pretended to focus on subjugating the undead.

“Wow, look at the rotten flesh oozing from the inside. It looked fine only on theoutside.”

“Double kill, triplekill…”

“Wow, this was a mana supplement. Wait, then the key part…”

“Quadruple kill, penta kill!” He didn’t even blink when cutting an enemy in half but listening to a corpse’s anatomy was a bit different. Claire continued her work while deliberately checking to see his reaction.

“This is it.”

“You found it?”

“The structure is simpler than I thought. I didn’t know how the tissue was structured, but the rest was taken into the undead core.”

“Be careful. I don’t know what system hacking will be like, but it doesn’t seem like we can easily touch it.”

“Don’t’ worry.” Although Claire was naturally proud of her abilities, she didn’t boast about things she couldn’t do. And now, the administrator was backing her, so Kang Shin-hyuk believed in her and focused on the battle. Slowly, the mist scattered, and the sun dawned in the sky. The rain of bodiesstopped.

“Done!” At that moment, Claire raised her hands and cheered. It was so cute that he wanted to hug her and cheer together, but he endured it patiently.

“What, did you really hack the Gaia system?”

“No, it seems a little difficult. It’s hard to access from this side because of the quick disconnection. Instead, we got a lot of information.”

“What sort of information was it to make you cheer so much?” Perhaps it was the question she had been waiting for, as Claire pointed to the evil android confidently.

“It was the information on how to bring this back tolife.”

“…” She dissected it, but now wanted to revive it? Rather, it felt like she meant something else.

“No way, how to make an undead?”

“Let’s subtract the undead element; I’d rather make a golem.”

“A golem.”

“Very modern, very modern, and at the same time, very fantasy.”

“Yes, yes, you mean an android.” Whether it was due to a lack of time or ability, she said she could make something that wouldn’t connect to the tainted Gaia system.

“I’m thinking of completely reworking the inner structure. Can you help?”

“If it’s okay after I’m done working.”

“That’s enough! I love you!” The battle ended well, and the harvest was good, so the two enjoyed a little skin-ship as they hugged for a while. The street residents were staring at them on the roof as they shared a passionate kiss. However, once she noticed, she leisurely waved them off.

“What? I’m not going to hide it.”

“So it’s something to be proud of? Oh, you’re proud of me.”

“Exactly. Haha.” Claire hung onto him and hugged his neck, letting out a heartfelt laugh.

“Am I heavy?”

“What? Are you on my back?”

“Well, 90points!”

“Did you fasten your seatbelt? Then, I’ll leave, ma’am.”

“Okay, five more points. Start!” Claire shouted happily as her legs kicked in the air. He carried her down from the roof as she was, and when the hatch closed, the residents breathed a collective sigh.

“Are all humans like that? They’re soloud.”

“But they did a good job.”

“Cheh, that man is good too.”

“You can’t have children through same-sex mating, Regal.”

“The battle is over, so get off the radio. If you find any dead, report it.”

“There’s none in this section, thanks to those humans.”

“Someone go check out the house that the zombies opened earlier.”

“I’ll go then.” The radio was cut off briefly; then, reports came in from each area stating everything was handled.

“What about pollution?”

“The amount of undead was absurd, but thanks to that cocktail, it’s fine.”

“Those outsiders were helpful, then.”

“They did well.”

“I was a bit suspicious… but now we have no choice but to trust them.”

“Not that doubting them will do us any good.”

“Go in and go to sleep, everyone.”

“…” One by one, the radios turned off, and Skoba laid down the fusion gun he was holding.

“Damn, they’re real lovers.” No, that wasn’t the part that surprised him. He just felt comfortable around them. He knew they lived in a different dimension than him, their thoughts and actions a world apart.

“Can they change Neorust?” Skoba shook his head and closed the window. So, the foggy night ended. Not that it could end. The night of fog would continue again and again until all free-willed humans were wiped out. But, at least this time, everyone could fall asleep safely.

Kang Shin-hyuk and Claire returned to their daily lives in this new world. Shin-hyuk focused on making the shackles while Claire sold cocktails to customers and, occasionally, worked on remodeling the android. She had collected a lot of mechanical parts from taking out the undead, so she was making good progress on the remodeling.

“I don’t think it’ll be completed before the shackles, though.”

“How do you plan on fixing its interior?”

“In fact, there is a sale on the trading board…”

“Ohhhhh…” In the blink of an eye, nearly two months had passed. The night of the fog arrived three more times, but no more undead cores fell from thesky.

Kang Shin-hyuk had completed the shackles, and Claire had finished the android.
