A Villain's Way of Taming Heroines

Chapter 603 In Ansel's Eyes - IV

“Then just use Ansel’s name.” Seraphina hadn’t thought it through. “Just say Faust wants these devices here, and anyone who messes with them will be killed. I’d like to see any idiot dare.”

“…Do you think Mr. Faust will keep his eyes on this place all the time?”

“Uh…” Seraphina was taken aback. She awkwardly scratched her cheek. “Probably not, but even if he doesn’t, no one would have the guts to—”

“One day, someone will.” Marlina interrupted Seraphina. “Maybe it will work for a while, but eventually, there will be someone bold enough to touch the forbidden, and Mr. Faust will most likely not be watching.”

She gazed into her sister’s increasingly evasive eyes, her tone unconsciously becoming sterner. “Once it happens, everything will revert to how it was, with no change at all.”

“Is…is it really that serious?”

Marlina sighed. “Mr. Faust once tried to stop the slave trade. He wreaked havoc in the black market of the capital, but in just three years, the slave trade continued, not to mention the entire empire.”

“Miss Fenrir, do you think it’s that serious?”

“I…”

Seraphina paused, thinking for a moment, but still resisted. “No, no, slave trade… the profit is too high! That’s why people keep doing it. Ansel can’t oversee the entire empire, which is why they have the guts to continue. But this… this is different!”

The young girl waved her hands energetically, using everything she had learned from Marlina to explain. “Controlling these devices doesn’t bring any real benefit! The people in the lower district are used to the air. Even if you control these machines and threaten them, they would just go back to breathing the same old air… It’s not like selling people, which makes a lot of money.

Why would anyone risk losing their head for something that doesn’t make money?”

Seraphina’s rare logical argument left Ravenna greatly surprised and much calmer.

“You’re right… The commoners in the lower district have nothing valuable to exploit. Whether the air is purified or not doesn’t directly affect them much; they could just endure it. Using this as a means of oppression wouldn’t work… Moreover, it’s pointless.”

Because it’s inherently pointless… Adventurers never covet the interests of commoners; they only want to squeeze the bitter lives of commoners and savor it slowly.

So even if it seems “pointless,” they would still do it. This is the twisted relationship between the extraordinary and the oppressed.

Marlina opened her mouth but didn’t say this out loud. She didn’t know why she remained silent on this matter and instead tried to persuade in another way. “But using Mr. Faust’s name would directly affect him, which… isn’t good.”

This statement was much more impactful than the previous ones. Ravenna’s hesitation grew more apparent, and Seraphina, too, didn’t immediately retort, showing some hesitation.

However, it wasn’t long before the wolf girl’s eyes began to brighten.

“But… Ansel wouldn’t mind, right? I mean, Ansel would surely want them to have a good life.”

Seraphina looked at Ansel, blinking her bright eyes. Her lively and charming face, filled with joyful anticipation, made it impossible to refuse.

“Call me Faust, Miss Fenrir,” Ansel said, a slight smile playing on his lips as if he were holding back laughter.

“You don’t use that face in front of me anymore, so why use that weird name… Ansel, Ansel, you must think the same as I do, right?”

Facing Seraphina’s expectant gaze, her eyes sparkling with little stars, Ansel simply smiled and then turned to look at Ravenna. “What do you think, Venna?”

“I think…”

Ravenna was still hesitant because she knew Ansel intended to do something significant with the identity of “Faust.” If her choice forced Ansel into a difficult position, then…

“I’ve always been doing tasks that others consider meaningless,” Ansel gently reminded her. “So it wouldn’t be surprising if Faust did something like this, right?”

This response made Ravenna’s eyes shine as brightly as Seraphina’s. She hesitated for a moment, looked at the device Seraphina was holding, and finally said firmly:

“Ansel, I want to change this place, even if just a little. Can you help me?”

“Of course,” Ansel answered without hesitation. “Go ahead, Venna.”

“…Alright!”

Ravenna hugged Ansel tightly and then stood on tiptoe to kiss him on the cheek, causing Seraphina to immediately scream and rush over to hug Ansel’s neck, showering the other side of his face with kisses.

Marlina stood by, watching all this with a sense of bewilderment, like an outsider… no, she was an outsider.

Yet before this, she hadn’t thought of herself as an outsider.

Mr. Ansel… he knows this isn’t right. This is just a temporary measure, one that could bring him completely unnecessary and avoidable trouble.

He clearly knows the right course of action; he’s the one who guided me. If I can think of it, Mr. Ansel certainly can too.

But why…

Gazing at the warm smile on the golden-haired boy’s face, Marlina felt a bit dazed.

Why is Mr. Ansel’s choice different from mine?

Let’s celebrate the 600th chapter, kekeke.

A brief summary of each pact head’s role under Ansel: S~eaʀᴄh the nôᴠel Fire.nёt website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Seri – The ultimate powerhouse, undeniably the top in combat prowess.

Ravenna – The scientist and inventor extraordinaire.

Marlina – The sociologist.

Don’t underestimate a sociologist! While scientists and powerhouse might help a nation win a war, a sociologist can theoretically make the entire world stop fighting. Of course, regarding many sociologists who are currently in the media spotlight… well, I can’t judge their academic abilities, but I am skeptical about their motivations.

Additionally, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all my readers who have supported me up to now. I’m very familiar with your names by this point. I apologize for not having the energy to respond to each of your comments. Just writing every day leaves me utterly exhausted… But seeing your comments truly makes me happy!

I plan to do a massive update either this week or next (because I’m off work next week, hahaha), allowing me to go into full-on berserk writing mode every day! Stay tuned, everyone!
