Chapter 565 Violent - I
Though she had boldly assured the civilians she protected, Miss Seraphina soon found herself in a dire predicament.
She was lost.
“Hiss…”
The tall girl, hands tucked into her jacket pockets, inhaled sharply as she surveyed the dark, labyrinthine streets.
“I forgot to ask them which way to the old lair of that guy… What should I do now?”
Asking for directions outright was something Seraphina often did, but after one incident where her intent was discovered, causing the target to flee on the spot… she seldom inquired directly when it involved dangerous targets.
Gazing at the intricate maze of the lower town, she scratched her head and sighed, “Well, let’s give it a try. It’s better than having no clue at all.”
The invisible wind, representing the world’s breath, flowed in all directions, guiding Seraphina towards the correct path.
It was well known that the current Head of Wind was somewhat… unique.
While her combat specialization made her invincible in swift skirmishes, her extraordinary intuition had further heightened. However, as a trade-off, the true essence of the Head of Wind’s “profession” had become almost non-existent within her. That keen ability to effortlessly perceive the world did not reside in Seraphina.
If the previous Heads of Wind knew about a head who could get lost… What expressions would they make?
Rarely using this power for sensing, Seraphina appeared somewhat rusty. At this moment, she thought to herself that she should have taken some of that black croco’s belongings; following the scent would have been much easier than this hassle.
“As long as I find a high-ranking extraordinary being, it should be fine.”
Defeating a villain ≈ Defeating the region’s strongest individual; this was the formula Seraphina had derived from her journey.
Only the powerful could oppress the masses, so defeating the powerful would suffice.
And if that powerful individual did not directly oppress the masses but allowed such oppression while having the power to stop it… unless they, like her, were merely passing through, they were certainly not good either and should be dealt with accordingly!
Miss Wolf’s logic, though simple and brutal, was largely effective, with no exceptions so far.
“…So few, most of the extraordinary beings are gathered above?”
Seraphina murmured softly, half-closing her eyes as she strained to extend her perception… Her mastery of the Head of Wind’s power in combat was refined to perfection, but her sensing abilities were embarrassingly unpracticed.
After about half a minute, the girl’s eyes snapped open, gleaming brightly.
“Found you! Two sneaky guys!”
The Head of Wind had detected the presence of two third-stage extraordinary beings. In the lower town, beings of this level could easily rule. No matter the circumstances… she would find them first to assess the situation.
Seraphina pulled up her dark red hood, her hands in her pockets. Her form blurred, leaving only afterimages as she vanished like a phantom.
With a light tap of her toe, her tall, lithe body soared into the air. In the past, such a maneuver would have caused a thunderous impact, leaving a crater in the ground, but now she moved with the grace and ease of one who seemed to sprout wings.
Since leaving Ansel, Seraphina had become acutely aware of her numerous flaws. This realization brought her both joy for Ansel’s silent care and frustration over the meticulous attention that left her with nothing to do.
Without consciously summoning it, the future Beast King’s seemingly soft body continuously erupted with surging power, growing ever more perfectly coordinated as if by instinct. Seraphina weaved through the complex structures of the lower town, leaving faint traces of her dark red cloak.
“Hmm… here?”
Soon, Seraphina landed lightly on the roof of a dilapidated inn. She squatted down with legs apart, resting her arms on her knees.
She rubbed her chin, puzzled. “The leader wouldn’t live here, but third-stage extraordinary beings… they shouldn’t be staying here either.”
Seraphina relished making those who bullied and oppressed the common folk beg for mercy, but that didn’t mean she enjoyed dragging others into her quest for justice. Unless they were long-term residents complicit in allowing evil while having the power to stop it, she wouldn’t force anyone to help her achieve her ideals.
However, the current situation was peculiar. Two third-stage extraordinary beings hiding in a rundown inn was out of character for those who would never compromise their comfort if given the chance.
Thinking this, she sat cross-legged and slightly held her breath. The power of the Head of Wind spread silently and invisibly.
“Hmph, they even used a soundproof barrier?” Seraphina raised an eyebrow, supremely confident. “There must be some secret, but I am Ansel’s Head of Wind. Such a trivial matter, hehehe”
Meanwhile—
“Evidently, Milo is still roaming outside… Boneblade, is that severed head truly his?”
Inside the room, two members of the New World engaged in a heated argument.
“I’ve told you countless times, it is absolutely genuine!” said the short man impatiently, holding Milo’s head. “The vice president of the Executioners entrusted it to me.”
“And that’s all it takes for you to be certain?”
“Then why don’t you prove that the living Milo is real?”
Boneblade retorted irritably. “Why would he go through the trouble of giving us a fake head? If it were a trap, we’d be dead by now!”
“What if he’s trying to catch bigger prey? Using us as bait…”
“By now, he would have uncovered whatever he needed. Damn it! Redhawk, how can you accomplish anything with such cowardice!”
Seraphina had been eavesdropping on their quarrel for nearly five minutes. She marveled at how such discordant individuals could cooperate.
If they belonged to any organization or faction, that entity must be laughably chaotic.
After listening a few more minutes, she grew impatient and was about to leave in search of Black Crocodile when one of the men suddenly said:
“Alright, enough bickering. Let’s calm down. Now is not the time for arguments… we need to deal with Black Crocodile before the competition starts.”
…Hmm?
Just as she was about to stand, Seraphina’s ears perked up, and she crouched back down.
