Chapter 109: Jump from the Cliff

Murphy walked forward toward them with slow steps, just then his hand moved and slammed it into his own face, and pulled the flesh out as the mask fell on the ground with a clatter.

Behind the mask, his face reformed slowly as he fell on his knees. It was Mo Fei’s face now; he gasped and looked at the Mask of the Abyss. "Huff... that hurts."

He moved his hand again toward his face, but as he pulled it back, he saw the blood on his hand. His face had been bruised by using the mask for so long. His clothes shifted back to his black robe and the revolver back to the double-edged Glaive as he clenched it and grunted underneath. "Urgh."

The spirit threads curled around the mask as he pulled it back to his hand.

Both the Celestials winced and stood up, then looked at the young man standing against them. He wasn’t the same tall, bulky detective. "So that’s your true face." The green-haired man whispered while clenching his shoulder.

The blue-haired man also trudged forward. "You are a low Ordinal Ascended, how are you beating Ordinal Eights?"

The sword-holder Celestial walked, pointing his long sword toward him. "You have an embodiment; that’s the only reasonable answer. There is no other thing that can make a weak Ascended overwhelm us."

Mo Fei said nothing; he was still catching his breath. Using his Glaive, he stood up.

The previous voice of that man faded in his mind, that was the spirit of Murphy Law. He was so insane that he didn’t care about Mo Fei’s body, which was so close to losing itself. He had to fight without the mask now; with another gasp, he stood and spun his Glaive. "You already know it, so give your everything."

The sword holder was the first to strike. His long sword slashed through the air, carving an arc of light straight for Mo Fei’s chest.

Mo Fei swiftly spun the Glaive, catching the blade near the haft. Sparks burst between them as he stepped inside the Celestial’s guard, pushing the shaft of the Glaive straight into the man’s throat.

The blue-haired man stumbled back, but the green-haired Celestial had already rushed from the side, hands gleaming with condensed black flames.

Mo Fei stepped back slowly to balance himself, the second blade of his Glaive coming forward and blocking the spear, and then quickly sidestepped, avoiding the fire.

Mo Fei jumped back toward the gateway of the dining table.

The taller Ascended screamed and launched a torrent of black energy at Mo Fei, who raised his Glaive to block, but the force was immense. He was thrown backward through the grand door, sliding his feet on the surface.

"Now, Cyrus." The taller Ascended shouted to his companion. "Finish him!"

The second Ascended, Cyrus rushed forward, his hands wreathed in black fire. Mo Fei jumped and dodged the flames, which hit the dining table behind, scattering the food around as the debris fell.

He reached the edge of the chamber and looked around to find any tactics. His gaze landed on an open window, which opened up onto the field outside the estate.

The green-haired man surged forward again and tried to flank him, but Mo Fei swept his double-edged Glaive in a wide, lethal circle. The air cracked under the pressure of Jian Yue’s Embodiment, and stilled the air. The raw, heavy force smashed through the green-haired Celestial’s aura, sending him crashing back through the wooden doors of the inner hall.

Using the momentum, he jumped outside in the fields. ’I can manage to kill them this way... Tch, it should work, or else I’m doomed.’

Both of them rushed behind him and jumped out of the window. The blue-haired man slashed down the air, and thunder cracked through the wind, which launched toward Mo Fei.

"How many assspulls are you going to do!?" He threw his Glaive in a spinning arc as the thunderous shot was nullified and the Glaive spun back, returning to his grip.

Both of them lunged together. Mo Fei stepped back further, reaching the end of the estate. Just as they went closer, he side-stepped and swept a kick at the blue-haired man’s feet as he trudged forward. Without wasting a second, Mo Fei kicked him on the back, but before that man could fall from it, he pulled Mo Fei’s robe.

Mo Fei’s feet stumbled; he almost got his balance by gripping his Glaive in the ground beneath, but the green-haired Celestial pushed him with a heavy kick.

The wind passed by him as he narrowed his eyes and gripped the edge. Under Mo Fei, the blue-haired Celestial held his leg and muttered. "I’m not dying alone."

Mo Fei let go of his hand. "You are dying alone."

The wind roared as Mo Fei fell through the clouds, his coat billowing behind him. Above him, the second Ascended hesitated at the edge. He was smarter than his companion—he knew that falling 4,000 meters meant death, even for an Ascended of their rank.

But the taller Ascended wasn’t smart, of course... oh wait, maybe because Mo Fei pushed him, so that wasn’t his stupidity.

Mo Fei swung his feet, then kicked the Celestial on his face and pushed him crashing down faster, then dove toward him. His Glaive spun through the air as he threw it toward the man who launched his hand in defense. The armor on his forearm blocked the hit. Just then, Mo Fei closed up the distance; his hand caught his Glaive and swung it toward the Celestial. Mo Fei twisted his body.

The wind howled past his ears as he raised his weapon, his Apprentice’s Eyes blazing silver. He spoke with a voice barely audible over the roar of the wind. "You are the only one going to hell."

The Ascended lunged with his bare hand, as the blade had already been lost. He aimed a punch at Mo Fei, who raised his hand and blocked the hit, then grabbed the man’s wrist and landed a punch on his face.

Before the Celestial moved, Mo Fei spun in the mid-air and snapped the man’s spirit threads, who quickly pulled his hand toward his heart as he felt a snap echo inside his body.

"Urgh, that’s pointless; you are going to die with me."

Mo Fei’s gaze fixated on the man as both of them fell faster than before, the land was closing up, and when they’d hit it, the pressure would instantly shatter their bodies. "That’s not the point; I didn’t jump without preparation."

He slammed multiple kicks on the Celestial who tried to block them, but he was being pushed faster. Finally, Mo Fei stabbed his Glaive into the man and landed on his chest before pushing himself up.

Mo Fei turned and looked at the sky and then back at the ground, the pressure in the air clattering his teeth as his Glaive was still raised, his eyes closed as the wind passed through him.

The ground was approaching fast.

"Divine Serpent—NOW!"

A massive white serpent burst from the clouds beneath him, its body coiling upward like a living pillar. Murphy crashed onto its scales, the impact sending a shockwave through his bones. The Serpent hissed, its voice echoing through the sky. "Great Master, that was extremely reckless."

Mo Fei looked down at the Celestial falling and hit the ground with a loud thud, which instantly shattered his whole body into flesh as the fist rose in the air.

"Get me down." Mo Fei whispered and looked toward the estate; one was still alive, but he knew that he’d not stay anymore in that estate as the secret had been found.

The Serpent soared downward, putting Mo Fei back near the endless stairs. The cold wind rushed through him as his boots stepped onto the ground.

He had won.

Finally, he walked toward the dust and saw the scattered flesh. His breathing was fast as he tried to process things, his whole face still burning.

He glanced at the endless stairs. "Tower of Light, that’s one place for my Authority, is it possible that I’ll find the mirror of truth there?"

He pulled spirit threads as the mask returned to his hand, and he slowly wore it again on his face. "That was a nightmare, geez."

Before he could take the next steps forward, the place instantly shifted into a street. Alongside the road line stand, there were streetlamps with dim lights. He glanced around to see what was happening and walked forward. "Give me a break, urgh."

Just then, his eyes lay on a scene happening in front of him. Multiple police officers stood near a gutter; many police cars were scattered around as if the thing that had happened was worse. Was that a vision of one of the spirits from the Lightless Realm? But why was he seeing it now?
