Chapter 261: The Second Wife

Jiraiya's gaze contained more than just shock.

He looked like someone who had long stood under the sunlight of hope, only to suddenly find the sky turning overcast.

Everyone knew—or pretended not to know—that Jiraiya loved Tsunade.

Since childhood.

Since they were still students of Hiruzen.

Yet Tsunade had always rejected Jiraiya.

Not with hatred, but with distance.

With a wall that was never explained.

And now, that woman said she was willing to marry.

Not out of love, but for the sake of diplomacy.

Orochimaru glanced at Jiraiya from the side.

Orochimaru's expression was flat as usual, but his golden eyes narrowed slightly.

Where Orochimaru knew Tsunade well.

Tsunade understood that this decision was serious.

Orochimaru didn’t care about love or marriage, but he cared about balance.

If this was Tsunade's way of maintaining the pillar that supported Konoha.

Then Orochimaru, though he would never say it aloud, still respected that choice.

However, Orochimaru still asked, in a hoarse and deep voice, “Tsunade. Are you sure?”

Tsunade turned to Orochimaru.

Her eyes did not waver even slightly. “I am sure.”

Keito, the Head of the Uzumaki Clan, who had been sitting cross-legged in the middle of the room, did not respond immediately.

The dark-haired man in a long black cloak adorned with swirling patterns stared at Tsunade with an unreadable expression.

Behind Keito's calmness, there was a wave of turmoil brewing.

The elders of the Uzumaki Clan sitting on either side of the room exchanged glances.

Some raised their eyebrows.

Some narrowed their eyes.

An old woman even squinted suspiciously, as if searching for a trap in Tsunade's words.

Finally, Keito spoke, calm, almost like a whisper: “But… both of my children are daughters, Miss Tsunade.”

There was a silence of one second, two seconds, before Tsunade looked at Keito unflinchingly.

“Isn’t one of your daughters already engaged?” Tsunade asked calmly.

“If so, I am willing to be the second wife of that man, if it is necessary to bind the agreement between us.”

Instantly, ripples grew in the room.

Keito's calm face changed.

Keito's eyebrows furrowed.

Keito's lips pressed together slightly.

Keito's back tensed.

Even Keito's breathing could be heard.

The elders around Keito murmured softly, like a swarm of bees beginning to stir.

Jiraiya was silent, his eyes bulging as if they wanted to pop out of their sockets.

“Tsunade… have you gone mad?” Jiraiya murmured quietly, almost like a prayer.

Orochimaru raised both eyebrows at once, something that almost never happened.

Where Orochimaru bowed his head slightly, as if analyzing a chess move he had never predicted.

Keito stared deeply at Tsunade.

“How do you know that I have a fiancé for my daughter?” Keito asked, this time with a tone of suspicion.

Tsunade answered without pause, “Reiji.”

That name made several elders flinch.

Someone dropped a small porcelain teacup.

The sound of it breaking echoed loudly in the silence.

“Reiji saved my grandmother, Mito Uzumaki,” Tsunade continued.

“Where Reiji possesses extraordinary Fuinjutsu abilities.”

“At such a young age, Reiji has protected his village from destruction.”

“It’s impossible that you haven’t considered Reiji.”

Keito looked at Tsunade with eyes that now seemed deeper.

No more games.

Some of the Uzumaki leaders whispered to each other, but their voices were drowned in the thickening atmosphere.

Reiji.

An eleven-year-old boy.

A rare phenomenon in the history of the clan.

Known only to a handful of people.

Keito had kept Reiji hidden from political maneuvering.

But when the Uzushio Village was attacked a few weeks ago, and Reiji displayed sealing powers that even surpassed those of adults, that secret could no longer be kept.

Where Reiji had become a small legend that had yet to grow.
