“I have an announcement to make, if you all would be kind enough to listen, this old lady would be very thankful.”

The square fell into an hush.

“Since we have had such a joyous occasion, and since our young ones have performed so remarkably well.”

The Milk Farm Old lady began, her voice carrying easily across the hushed crowd as she gestured toward the line of newly awakened children.

“I’ve been observing. Considering there wasn’t a single person who failed to invoke their magic, I have deduced that this has been one of the most successful awakening ceremonies in recent years.”

A murmur of agreement rippled through the parents. She leaned against the railing, her heavy bust swaying with the movement, and flashed a grin that was both maternal and scandalously bold.

“So, on this auspicious occasion, I have decided to treat our participants. Every one of you who just awakened—you are hereby granted the right to choose a sexual partner for yourselves.”

“If you want one, you pick them, and I will personally handle the payment in your stead. So go on, choose anyone who catches your eye. As long as the other party agrees, Granny will pay the bills.”

A stunned silence hung in the air for a heartbeat, followed by a roar of ecstatic cheers from the young participants.

Kael was momentarily floored by the announcement, but a quick scan of the crowd revealed that he was the only one surprised.

The commoners were already erupting in excitement, while the noble youths on the stage looked utterly disinterested, some even wearing expressions of thinly veiled disdain.

It was logical, he supposed—money for sex was a transactional burden for the commoners, whereas for the nobility, having their “needs” subsidized by a local shopkeeper was likely seen as an insult to their status and family wealth.

Sure enough, the two noble-born youths offered a stiff, formal bow to the dignitaries and swept off the stage without a backward glance.

“Huh, trying to act high and mighty,” kyro muttered, his face twisting in disgust as he watched them retreat.

“Brothers, don’t let their behavior get to you,” a voice called out. It was Jake, looking perfectly at ease despite the intensity of the morning.

He caught Kael and Kyro’s eyes and gave them a knowing, conspiratorial wink. “Go on, pick anyone you fancy. Don’t worry about the cost—believe in Granny; she’s covering the bill, and she’s good for it. Hehe.”

Kael felt the shift in the air; the square had transformed into a hunting ground. The weight of the ceremony had evaporated, replaced by a reckless, hedonistic energy.

“Aren’t you coming with us, Jake?” Kyro asked, though he already knew the answer. Jake was a training maniac; if you left him to his own devices, he’d spend every waking hour swinging a sword or practicing his mana control.

“Why bother asking when you already know me, Kyro?” Jake laughed, his tone light and easy.

He stepped forward and pulled both his friends into a solid, bracing hug.

“I’ve got absolutely no interest in these kinds of games. I’ve got better things to do.”

He pulled back, his expression turning sincere as he looked at Kael.

“Kael, take care of yourself. I’ve got to say, your results today actually surprised me—you really showed them. I would’ve loved to stick around and celebrate, but I need to get home and tell my father my results. He’ll be thrilled.”

Kael nodded, understanding perfectly. Jake’s father was the person he loved most in the world, the only pillar of support he had outside of his small circle of friends.

Unfortunately, the man had been bedridden for years, trapped by an illness that kept him from witnessing the most important day of his son’s life.

“Go on, get out of here,” Kael said with a supportive pat on the shoulder. “He’s going to be proud.”

With a final wave, Jake turned and navigated his way through the crowd, leaving the two of them alone in the growing chaos of the square.

Kael sighed internally as he watched Jake disappear into the throng. “That guy really has it rough,” he thought.

“His mother hates him with a burning passion, and the only person who actually loves him is rotting away in a sickbed.”

He shook off the melancholy, deciding that dwelling on someone else’s misfortune wasn’t going to help him enjoy the chaotic opportunity the Milk Lady had just handed them.

He turned to Kyro with a mischievous glint in his eye. “So, brother, have you got anyone in mind that you can’t afford to pay for? Haha!”

Kyro caught the intent immediately, his grin widening as he leaned in.

“I think I’ll just stick to the lady in my neighborhood. I can’t aim too high, you know? There’s always a chance the really high-class ones will just look down their noses and tell us to get lost.”

Kael chuckled, then shifted his gaze toward the silent girl standing nearby. “What about you, Kira? Do you have anyone you’re planning to choose?”

Kira blinked, her eyes became focused as if she’d been jolted out of a deep, distracted daydream.

She looked at Kael, her face and her expression showing her disinterest.

“No,” she said, her voice quiet but firm. “I have no interest in that.”

Without waiting for a comeback, she turned toward the stage, offered a polite, stiff bow to the dignitaries, and began making her way out of the square, her steps quick.

In this world, girls usually had a much lower sex drive than boys.

Because of this, and because the offer was just for their own pleasure without the usual money changing hands, the energy on the stage was tense.

The boys of common origin were the only ones left, and they were busy whispering, trying to decide who to pick.

It was a gamble: if you picked someone too high-status or popular, she would just laugh at you and say no.

But if you picked someone “too easy” or low-value, you would end up wasting a once-in-a-lifetime chance for a free, premium experience.

Eric, seeing the boys hesitating and sweating, decided to nudge them along. He stepped up, his voice booming across the stage to give them a push.

“Since Granny is footing the bill for everyone, choose with a free mind!” he shouted, grinning at them.

“Don’t worry about the price tag—just make sure you pick someone who won’t turn you down. Go get what you want, haha!”

The boys straightened up, their eyes scanning the crowd of women with a new, hungry intensity.

They were no longer just participants in a ceremony; they were shoppers in a marketplace, and for once, the best things in life were free for the taking.

“Brother, have you decided on someone yet?” Kyro asked, his eyes scanning the crowd with a mix of excitement and nervous anticipation.

Kael stood there, completely uninterested in the frantic selection process.

He didn’t know most of the people in this crowd, and the ones he did know—the women already under his influence—he could fuck whenever he wanted, regardless of any “official” offer.

He didn’t need Granny’s permission or her resources to get what he wanted.

“Wait a second,” Kael replied, putting on a show for the sake of his cover. “She said I could pick anyone, and as long as they didn’t refuse, the deal was on. I need to think.”

“Yeah, brother, make up your mind,” Kyro urged, already eager to finalize his own plans.

“Don’t waste a chance like this.”

Kyro didn’t wait any longer; he hurried over to join the line where the other participants were whispering their choices to the old Lady.

Granny listened to each boy, a satisfied smile on her face, and immediately signaled for guards to escort the lucky participants toward their chosen partners.

One by one, the boys left the stage, their faces flushed with anticipation. Eventually, it was Kyro’s turn.
