Mira stopped laughing and looked down, though Kael was certain she was still wearing a mischievous grin.

He sat back down. “So, sis, should we start now?”

“No need to be so hasty, Kael,” Ruby said with a soft smile. “I know you’ve taken a real interest in cultivation these past few days and you want to get this over with, but relax a little bit.

There’s no need to be so tense. Everything will be all right, and we will do ‘that’ soon enough.”

She paused, her expression turning more serious. “But first, you need to tell me what is actually happening outside. It’s been chaotic for a long time, and yesterday I heard a massive bang.
