Chapter 733: Chapter 730: Let Me Take Your Pulse for You

Ewan glanced at her, then turned to watch the ambulance drive away. "If you’re really that worried," he said, "you can follow it to the hospital."

Sarah Shelby froze for a moment before realizing what he meant. She shook her head. "There’s no need. I don’t know Sierra Sutton well. I’m worried about Clara, but she just has a few scrapes. It should be fine. Besides, with President Quinn there, he won’t let anything happen to her."

Ewan Stratton turned back to her, raising an eyebrow. "Are you that envious? That Clara Grant got to marry a man she loves, who also loves her back?"

Sarah was stunned again, then a little speechless. ’It’s true that I’m envious, but what part of what I just said could possibly have given him that impression?’

But Ewan Stratton kept his eyes fixed on her, a teasing look on his face as he continued, "Because you’re envious of a marriage based on mutual love, you hate your father for forcing you to marry a man you don’t love?"

It finally dawned on Sarah Shelby. ’So that’s what he was getting at.’

’He heard everything I said after all.’

She stared back at him intently. "And you? Don’t you hate being made to marry a woman you don’t love?"

Ewan Stratton stared at her for a moment, then his lips curled into a smirk. "I’m not like you. No one can ever force me to do something I don’t want to. I chose to marry you. Should I hate myself for it?"

Seeing his smile, Sarah Shelby was suddenly annoyed. The words tumbled out before she could think. "No one can force you to do things you don’t want to do? Then what about *that* woman? Isn’t she a person?"

The smile on Ewan Stratton’s face froze instantly. His eyes narrowed, emitting a dangerous glint, and he seemed to grind his teeth. "Woman, give you an inch and you’ll take a mile, won’t you? Just wait until we get home. I’ll show you how I punish you!"

Sarah Shelby instantly regretted it. ’Loose lips sink ships.’ She shouldn’t have provoked him just to win a verbal spat. She would be the one to suffer for it in the end.

But Sarah Shelby secretly shrugged. ’What does it matter? I’m already used to it!’

...

「At the hospital」

Sierra Sutton was wheeled into the operating room.

Rowan Linden looked at Clara Grant’s worried face and tried to comfort her. "Clara, don’t worry. The ones operating on him are the best surgeons we have. He’ll be okay."

But Clara Grant couldn’t bring herself to relax. ’If something happens to Sierra Sutton, what will happen to the baby? To be without parents at such a young age... how pitiful!’

Seth Quinn wrapped an arm around her shoulder and added, "Rowan is a doctor. He was the first to check on Sierra Sutton’s injuries, so he knows the situation best. If he says he’ll be fine, he’ll be fine. Don’t worry."

"How can I relax when I don’t know for sure if his life is out of danger? If he really... what will happen to the baby?"

"Then at the very least, you should get the cut on your arm treated first. It won’t be too late to worry about him after that. Besides, you can’t help him by just waiting here."

Clara Grant lifted her arm to look. It didn’t seem that serious, but she still nodded. "All right."

’The least I can do right now is not make other people, especially Seth, worry about me.’

Rowan Linden led them to a treatment room and called in a more experienced nurse to tend to her.

The nurse didn’t look very old and had a bubbly personality. She made small talk with Clara Grant as she disinfected the wound.

"You know, some wounds look small, but they can cause trouble if you don’t treat them right away. Your scrape doesn’t look deep, but it covers a fairly large area, so we still need to take proper care of it."

Clara Grant gave a weak smile and nodded. Just as she was about to say something, Seth Quinn’s phone rang. She turned to look. Seth held up his phone, gave her a reassuring glance, and stepped out of the treatment room to take the call.

Only then did Clara Grant turn back to the nurse. "No wonder Dr. Linden said you were experienced."

The nurse was even more delighted to hear that. "Really? Dr. Linden actually said that? Well, he’s got good judgment."

Clara was at a loss for words.

The nurse quickly and carefully finished treating the wound. Then she stared intently at Clara Grant’s face for a moment before saying, "You look a little pale. I’ve been studying traditional Chinese medicine recently, and I know how to read a pulse. Why don’t you let me take yours?"

"Huh?" Clara Grant’s expression shifted. ’I just gave her one little compliment. She doesn’t have to show off her skills to me, does she?’

"N-no, that’s not necessary. I was just frightened earlier, that’s why I look a little... pale..."

But the nurse had already grabbed her wrist without taking no for an answer and began to feel for her pulse.

A moment later, she suddenly gasped, making Clara Grant jump.
