Chapter 1444: Chapter 1444: Recording

After tidying up the villa, Mu Yan was about to return to the hotel when she suddenly received a call from Jiang Wenhui, inviting her out for tea.

Mu Yan felt a bit fatigued at the moment, but since Jiang Wenhui rarely invited her, she couldn’t refuse and agreed.

In a downtown café, Mu Yan arrived to find Jiang Wenhui was already there.

She was sitting in a spot further inside, a cup of coffee in front of her, appearing deep in thought.

"Big sister." Mu Yan walked over and called out.

Jiang Wenhui looked up at her and smiled, "You’re here."

Mu Yan sat down, and a server immediately came over with the menu.

Mu Yan glanced through it and said, "A glass of orange juice, please."

After the server left, Mu Yan looked at Jiang Wenhui and noticed she didn’t seem well, so she asked, "Big sister, are you feeling unwell?"

"I caught a cold these past couple of days, but it’s getting better." Jiang Wenhui said with a smile.

She looked at Mu Yan and asked, "But you don’t look well either, didn’t sleep well?"

"I was tidying up at home earlier and then came out." Mu Yan explained.

Jiang Wenhui breathed a sigh of relief, "I see, maybe I was wrong to call you out suddenly."

"You’re too kind, big sister; is there something you wanted to talk to me about?" Mu Yan asked.

Jiang Wenhui’s expression suddenly turned serious. She looked at Mu Yan, hesitated, and said, "I just received news; Edward has passed away."

"Hmm?" Mu Yan didn’t react immediately, "Who?"

"He’s the young man who was prepared to donate his heart to Mu Chen." Jiang Wenhui explained.

Mu Yan suddenly fell silent, thinking of something.

Previously, she had told Jiang Jingheng to give her the contact information of Edward’s family, to express gratitude for Edward’s heart donation.

Yet, Jiang Jingheng had still not provided their contact information.

Of course, back then she mentioned it to test Jiang Jingheng, and he ended up concealing the fact he hadn’t used Edward’s heart.

Why did he choose to hide it from her?

Noticing Mu Yan’s silence, Jiang Wenhui asked, "Mu Yan, what are you thinking about?"

Mu Yan snapped back to reality, met her searching gaze, and sighed, "I’m sorry to hear this news. Is there anything I can do to help them?"

"His family is very poor; they were initially hoping for a reward from the heart donation, but..." Jiang Wenhui glanced at Mu Yan, "Of course, maybe his heart wasn’t suitable, so Jing Heng didn’t use it."

"Big sister, do you have his family’s contact information?" Mu Yan asked.

"I do." Jiang Wenhui nodded.

"I’d like to donate some money to them; can you assist me?" Mu Yan asked.

"Of course." Jiang Wenhui smiled, "Edward was a filial child, surely his spirit will be grateful to you."

Mu Yan tugged at the corner of her lips just as the server brought the juice.

She picked up the juice and took a sip.

After chatting for a while, Jiang Wenhui returned to the company.

Mu Yan, without much to do, also went back to the hotel.

At the front desk, she was informed there was a package for her.

Mu Yan received the package, a very small parcel, with a sender’s name she didn’t recognize and an address even more unfamiliar.

Feeling a bit tired, she simply took the package back to her room.

Kong Lizhen was not at the hotel at that time; upon returning, Mu Yan rested directly.

It was only in the afternoon that she woke up, got out of bed to get a drink of water, and after drinking, she noticed the package on the cabinet.

She stared at it for a few seconds, found a paper cutter, opened it, and took out a recorder from inside.

Mu Yan held the recorder, examined it, then casually pressed the switch.

Soon, a man’s voice emerged, spoken in fluent English, but incredibly familiar—it was Jiang Jingheng’s voice.
