A Farmer's Journey To Immortality

Chapter 826: Blurring the Lines Between Righteous & Demonic Factions: Hybrid Alliance

The female intelligence elder had already left.

The study became quiet once again.

Just as Haitin was about to stand up and leave the study to deal with other sect matters, his expression suddenly changed.

He paused.

A faint fluctuation appeared within his spiritual perception. The formation protecting the palace transmitted a message to him.

Haitin frowned slightly. Then he quickly understood what was happening. A familiar visitor had arrived.

Without hesitation, he sent a spiritual command to the guards and formation masters outside.

"Let her enter."

Several minutes later, the study door opened. A beautiful woman dressed in elegant green robes stepped inside.

It was Zinnia.

Her long hair flowed down her back like silk. Her posture remained graceful and professional as always.

She bowed respectfully.

"This servant greets Lord Haitin."

Haitin nodded.

"There is no need for formalities."

A faint smile appeared on his face.

"I did not expect to see you today."

Zinnia smiled politely.

"Neither did I expect to come here on such short notice. But some things... well... they do require some urgency."

Haitin immediately understood.

Whenever Zinnia appeared personally, it usually meant that either Aksai had something important to convey or Emerald Cove Island needed to coordinate something directly with the Blackblood Demon Sect.

Still, Haitin did not rush into the matter. There was no reason to.

Aksai’s people never acted recklessly. If the matter was urgent, Zinnia would eventually mention it herself. Thus, he gestured toward a nearby chair.

"Please sit."

"Thank you."

Zinnia took her seat.

A servant quickly entered and served tea before leaving quietly. The two immediately began discussing business matters.

The alliance between Emerald Cove Island and the Blackblood Demon Sect had grown steadily over the years. Most outsiders had no idea how much trade occurred between the two factions.

Spirit herbs. Potion ingredients. Rare ores. Formation materials. Demon beast resources.

Many valuable goods moved secretly between the two sides. Naturally, almost all of it remained hidden from the righteous factions.

Zinnia placed several jade slips on the table.

"The latest harvest from Emerald Cove Island has exceeded expectations."

Haitin raised an eyebrow.

"Oh?"

Zinnia nodded.

"The Spirit Rice production has increased again. We also managed to cultivate several rare medicinal herbs successfully."

Haitin picked up one of the jade slips and examined it.

His eyes widened slightly.

"The output increased this much?"

"Yes."

Zinnia smiled.

"Lord Aksai’s farming methods continue to produce surprising results."

Haitin chuckled softly. That sounded exactly like Aksai.

Every time it seemed impossible to improve something further, the Spirit farmer somehow found a way.

The discussion continued.

Several upcoming trade routes were adjusted. New resource quotas were negotiated. Future purchases were planned.

Some affiliated demon sects under the Blackblood Demon Sect would begin supplying additional beast materials to Emerald Cove Island. In return, Emerald Cove Island would increase its shipment of cultivation resources.

The negotiations proceeded smoothly. Both sides trusted each other enough that most issues were settled quickly.

Nearly half an hour passed. Eventually, the business discussion reached its conclusion.

Haitin put down the final jade slip.

"I believe that settles everything."

Zinnia nodded.

"Yes."

For the first time since entering the room, her expression became slightly more serious.

Haitin immediately noticed. His eyes narrowed slightly.

The real reason for her visit was finally about to surface.

He leaned back in his chair.

"Now then."

A faint smile appeared on his face.

"You didn’t come all the way here just to discuss trade."

Zinnia smiled helplessly.

"As expected of Lord Haitin."

She took out a sealed jade token from her storage ring and carefully placed it on the table.

Haitin’s expression became attentive.

The seal on the token carried Aksai’s personal mark.

Only truly important matters were conveyed this way.

Zinnia folded her hands on her lap before speaking.

"My Lord instructed me to deliver this message personally."

Haitin slowly picked up the jade token. His eyes narrowed. He looked at the floating jade token in his hand.

The token appeared ordinary at first glance. It was dark green in color and carved from high-quality spirit jade. However, Haitin knew very well that appearances could be deceiving.

Aksai had never been careless when it came to security. A faint smile appeared on Haitin’s face.

"Brother-in-law is a really meticulous person."

He muttered to himself softly.

Among outsiders, Haitin would naturally address Aksai by his title or name. However, when he was alone or speaking among trusted people, he often referred to Aksai as his future brother-in-law.

After all, before Blackblood Lord died, he had personally arranged a betrothal between Aksai and Humeyin.

Although the marriage had never been made official, and neither Aksai nor Humeyin had given a clear answer, Haitin had long accepted the possibility.

Truthfully speaking, he could not think of anyone better.

Aksai was capable.

Reliable.

Dangerous to his enemies.

And most importantly, he had always treated Humeyin with respect.

As far as Haitin was concerned, his late father had made an excellent choice.

Shaking his head, Haitin focused on the jade token.

He released a strand of Spirit Sense.

The moment his Spirit Sense touched the token, various hidden runes inside it lit up. The security formation activated.

For a brief moment, the formation inspected his Spirit Sense.

Then it accepted him.

Haitin could feel how strict the verification process was. If another cultivator had tried to force their way through, the formation would not simply reject them. It spoke volumes about how sensitive the information contained within the jade token was.

The jade token would immediately destroy its own contents and transform into nothing more than a useless wooden shell. Only after the verification was completed did the token finally react.

A gentle glow emerged from its surface. Soon, a spectral figure appeared above the desk.

It was Aksai.

Haitin immediately sat straighter. The projection smiled lightly.

"Haitin."

"Congratulations on becoming a Core Formation Lord."

Haitin blinked.

Then he laughed softly.

A genuine smile appeared on his face.

"So he already knows."

His breakthrough had been kept hidden from almost everyone. Only a handful of trusted people within the sect knew the truth.

Yet Aksai had discovered it anyway. The realization did not make Haitin uncomfortable.

Instead, it made him happy.

It meant that communication still existed between Aksai and Humeyin.

Even if they were not officially engaged yet, the relationship between both sides had not faded.

The spectral Aksai continued speaking.

"I heard the news recently. You’ve done well. The Blackblood Demon Sect now possesses another Lord. Your father would be proud."

For a moment, Haitin became silent.

Those simple words carried more weight than many congratulatory gifts he had received recently.

Then Aksai’s expression became serious.

The atmosphere inside the study changed immediately.

"The next matter is extremely important."

Haitin’s smile disappeared. He listened attentively.

Aksai began explaining everything. The hidden royal faction.

Its existence.

Its growth over the last decade.

Its ambitions.

Its plans.

The more Haitin listened, the more serious his expression became.

Soon, Aksai spoke about Prince Arven. He explained how the prince had died.

He also explained how he had infiltrated parts of the royal faction’s network and gathered information.

Then came an even bigger revelation.

Arkaal.

The Gu insect farm.

And finally—

Poison Gu King Qishan.

A genuine Nascent Soul King.

Haitin’s pupils shrank slightly.

Even though he had already become a Lord, hearing about a Nascent Soul King still carried tremendous pressure.

Those beings once stood at the very peak of the Dadangar Subcontinent. But they were no more. At least that’s how it was supposed to be until Haitin’s brother-in-law told him otherwise.

Aksai continued calmly. He explained his recent cooperation with the Purple River Sect. He spoke about the preparations being made behind the scenes.

And finally, he reached the conclusion.

"The royal faction has already been exposed to a certain extent. Prince Arven’s death accelerated everything. They can no longer remain hidden forever.

"Haitin, you must be already aware of this because of your dealings with the Mroot Yaksha Sect. The moment a hidden force realizes that secrecy is no longer possible, it becomes more dangerous."

Haitin nodded subconsciously.

That much was true.

A cornered beast was often at its most dangerous.

Aksai’s voice remained calm.

"I predict that the royal faction will abandon many of its previous restraints. They will become more aggressive. And they will start targeting Lords openly."

The room became silent.

Then Aksai looked directly toward Haitin through the projection.

"Haitin."

"I am forming an alliance. And I want to know if the Blackblood Demon Sect wishes to participate."

Haitin instinctively opened his mouth.

Many objections immediately surfaced in his mind.

Purple River Sect was from the Righteous faction. The Blackblood Demon Sect was from the Demonic faction.

The two sides had been enemies for generations. They fought each other. Killed each other.

The relationship between them was like oil and water.

Even when their interests occasionally overlapped, neither side truly trusted the other.

Haitin almost spoke.

Then he remembered something. This was a recorded message.

Aksai could not hear him. The realization made him stop.

However, before he could fully collect his thoughts, the spectral projection suddenly smiled. Almost as if it knew exactly what he was thinking.

"I know your concern."

Haitin froze.

The projection continued.

"You are thinking about the righteous faction and the demonic faction. You are wondering how such an alliance can work."

A helpless smile appeared on Haitin’s face.

As expected.

Aksai had anticipated this reaction long ago.

’Brother-in-law is truly amazing.’
