A Farmer's Journey To Immortality

Although the existence of a Nascent Soul King in the royal faction had given Aksai a scare, he should not make all his decisions based on his paranoia to avoid another King encounter in the near future at all costs.

It was one thing to be cautious and keep his eyes open, and something completely different to let fear rule his actions.

Cultivation itself was dangerous. Especially the path he had chosen.

His status as a druid put him up against the literal heavens and others who considered druids as their mortal enemies. Also, the Heretic Dao was never meant for cowards.

Aksai let out a long breath. His eyes slowly became calm again.

“Fine,” he said quietly.

He looked toward the central platform once more.

“Maintain the devour-type Spatial Anchoring in its current paused state.”

Yelia nodded immediately.

Aksai continued calmly.

“I’ll go check what’s hidden there myself.”

Then his expression became serious again.

“But listen carefully.”

“If I encounter something dangerous enough that I cannot handle…”

He looked directly into Yelia’s eyes.

“…immediately send me back into the Enchanted Everwood Farm and abandon the rest of the gu insect farm completely.”

Yelia silently looked at him for a few moments.

Then she nodded seriously.

“I understand.”

Aksai slowly exhaled once more before starting to walk toward the raised stone platform alone.

His steps were careful and steady. Even now, all three of his extra senses were still failing him. That strange feeling only made Aksai more cautious.

The surrounding gu insect farm was still being swallowed slowly by the Enchanted Everwood Farm in the distance. The stretched shadows continued moving across the underground space like giant black waves.

However, the closer Aksai got to the void stone platform, the quieter everything became. Eventually, he reached the bottom of the stairs leading upward.

The stairs themselves were also made entirely from smooth void stone. They were dark gray in color and cold to the touch. No runes were carved onto them. No formation lights glowed around them either. It looked strangely plain.

Aksai slowly climbed the stairs one step at a time.

Step. Step. Step.

His breathing remained calm, but his muscles stayed tense. He was fully prepared to retreat the moment something went wrong.

Soon, he finally reached the top of the platform. The moment he stepped onto it, his eyes narrowed slightly.

There was a pond there.

A small pond made of black liquid rested quietly in the center of the platform.

At first glance, it looked like ordinary water that had been dyed black. But after staring at it for a few seconds, Aksai immediately realized something was wrong. The blackness inside the pond did not look natural.

It was too deep.

Too dark.

It looked like the night sky itself had melted into liquid form.

The surface of the pond remained completely still. Not even a single ripple existed on it. And when Aksai slowly moved closer and looked down into the water—

He saw no reflection of himself.

Only darkness. A strange chill ran down his spine. His instincts told him the water was dangerous. But his curiosity wanted him to touch it anyway. His contrasting nature as the regular viewer of horror movies while still being fearful of them in his past life was on full display.

At that moment, Yelia’s shocked voice echoed inside his mind.

“My lord… this… this seems to be a Void Water Pond.”

Aksai’s eyes sharpened slightly.

“Void Water?”

Yelia sounded serious now.

“No wonder I couldn’t devour this part of the farm. We cannot transport this thing into the Enchanted Everwood Farm.”

She paused briefly before continuing.

“The artifact’s spatial laws are not strong enough to store Void Water. Something like this can only exist inside a perfectly formed world like Dadangar.”

Aksai quietly stared at the black pond again.

The strange thing was that the liquid did not feel dangerous immediately. It simply existed there silently.

And yet—

Everything around it instinctively avoided it.

Yelia spoke again.

“It’s a good thing you ran out of Spirit Farming Points earlier. Otherwise, all of those points would have been wasted if we had forcefully tried to absorb this section into the Farm.”

Aksai slowly crouched beside the pond.

The black liquid looked calm and quiet. It even behaved like ordinary water. The surface moved slightly whenever faint air currents passed nearby.

The curiosity finally got the better of him. Aksai carefully stretched one hand toward the pond.

He wanted to test it slightly.

However—

Yelia’s voice immediately rang out sharply inside his head.

“My lord, don’t touch the water!”

Aksai instantly stopped.

Yelia continued quickly.

“Be careful. It is not truly water. It is Void Law influenced by the nature of the water element until it starts behaving like water.”

Her tone became much more serious.

“If you dip your finger into it, you will lose that finger permanently. It may never grow back no matter what kind of Spirit spells you use. Even druid powers may not be useful.”

Aksai’s hand slowly pulled back immediately. A mix of fear and thrill put a smile on his face. He quietly stared at the pond for several long moments.

A liquid made from Void Laws themselves. Even hearing such a thing sounded absurd.

And yet—

It existed right in front of him.

Aksai quietly stared at the dark pond for a long time. Eventually, he slowly narrowed his eyes.

A certain thought suddenly appeared in his mind.

“Perhaps the 4th Order gu insects were never the real reason this farm was hidden from the royal faction,” he muttered softly to himself.

His gaze remained fixed on the Void Water.

“It was this thing.”

A faint cold light appeared in his eyes.

“This Void Water must have been the true secret that prompted that old, rotten, half-dead King to hide this place so carefully.”

“Rather,” he continued thoughtfully, “this entire gu insect farm was probably built around the void stone platform itself.”
