Chapter 796: Aksai vs Arkaal P4
Boom!
Another violent clash echoed through the sealed chamber as Zyn’s massive claw smashed against Arkaal’s weapon aura. Poison mist spread wildly through the air while broken stone pieces scattered in every direction.
Arkaal slid backward across the ground before quickly regaining his footing.
His breathing had become slightly heavier than before.
The old man narrowed his eyes as he stared at the wyvern circling around him. At the same time, the faint sound of Aksai’s flute continued to echo through the chamber without pause.
The melodies were soft.
Almost gentle.
And yet they were endlessly annoying.
Every time Arkaal tried to focus fully on attacking, the strange sound interfered with his mind. Sometimes his thoughts slowed down slightly. Sometimes his emotions became unstable. Other times, his concentration loosened for a split second.
Normally, such tiny effects would not matter much to someone like him.
But in a battle against a genuine 4th Order beast?
Even the smallest opening could become dangerous.
Roar!
Zyn suddenly lunged forward again, opening its jaws wide and releasing a thick torrent of green poison flames.
Arkaal immediately swung his Dadao.
A massive crescent-shaped blade aura tore through the poison flames and split them apart. However, the poison mist still spread around him and forced him to retreat once more.
At the same time, countless vines burst out from the ground again.
“Damn brat,” Arkaal cursed coldly while cutting down the vines around him.
Only now was he finally starting to fully understand Aksai’s strategy.
’This bastard wants to tire me out,’ Arkaal thought grimly.
The longer the battle dragged on, the more troublesome it became for him.
The wyvern itself was already difficult enough to handle. Although Arkaal believed he could eventually suppress it, doing so would still consume a large amount of Spirit Essence and mental focus.
And then there was that cursed flute.
Arkaal’s expression darkened further as another strange melody entered his ears.
’That Soul Artifact is the real problem,’ he thought.
Without the flute’s constant interference, he would have already found an opening to bypass Zyn and kill Aksai hiding behind the protective barrier.
But every time he tried to force his way toward Aksai, either his concentration was disrupted or Zyn would suddenly attack more fiercely under the support of those melodies.
It was extremely irritating.
For a brief moment, another thought appeared in Arkaal’s mind.
’Should I just open the sealed chamber and call for backup?’
After all, this was the royal faction’s territory.
He was not alone.
There were several other Core Formation Lords hidden within the faction. Even the late-stage Foundation Establishment Experts under the royal faction were not ordinary cultivators. Many of them were trained in special Group Battle Formations.
When fighting together, they could even suppress an early-stage Core Formation Lord temporarily.
If reinforcements arrived, dealing with Aksai and the wyvern would become much easier.
The idea was tempting.
Very tempting.
Especially now that the battle was becoming more troublesome than Arkaal had expected.
Boom!
Zyn smashed its tail toward him again, forcing Arkaal to dodge sideways.
As the battle resumed fiercely, Arkaal’s thoughts continued moving rapidly.
However, after only a few moments, he slowly abandoned the idea of calling for help.
Firstly, there was his pride.
Arkaal was one of the royal faction’s commanders. A late-stage Core Formation Lord.
If news spread that he had needed help dealing with a newly advanced Lord, his reputation within the faction would suffer greatly.
Especially after his master’s death.
Secondly…
Arkaal’s eyes flickered coldly as he glanced toward Aksai behind the barrier.
He did not trust the brat at all anymore. The more he fought, the stranger Aksai seemed.
Weird Soul Artifact. Strange techniques. Mysterious abilities.
Even his master had died under unknown circumstances. Arkaal no longer dared to underestimate him.
’If I open the chamber and remove the seals, this bastard might escape using some strange trick again,’ Arkaal thought.
That was the real issue.
This sealed chamber had been personally designed by Qishan himself while he was alive. The barriers and formations inside were all 4th Order.
As long as the chamber remained sealed, Aksai had nowhere to run.
But if Arkaal opened it even slightly to call for reinforcements, the situation would change completely. Aksai’s chances of escaping would increase rapidly.
And Arkaal absolutely did not want that to happen. His eyes gradually turned colder.
’No,’ he thought firmly while tightening his grip on his Dadao. ’I’ll kill him myself.’
Arkaal’s eyes gradually turned colder as the battle continued.
He had already understood one thing very clearly. If this dragged on further, the situation would only become more troublesome for him.
Arkaal was no fool. He understood that Aksai was deliberately trying to wear him down little by little. And the most irritating part was that the strategy was actually working.
The old man suddenly stopped retreating. A dangerous glint flashed in his eyes.
“Enough games. You think only you have little tricks up your sleeves, huh?” he muttered coldly.
In the next moment, Arkaal took out a dark purple vial from his storage ring and immediately drank its contents.
The moment the potion entered his body, a powerful wave of Soul energy exploded out from him.
Boom!
The air around him trembled violently.
Aksai’s eyes narrowed instantly.
’A Spirit potion? No…. it’s something similar to a fusion between a Spirit potion and Aether potion.’
Arkaal’s already sharp Weapon Intent suddenly became even more dangerous. The pressure released from his Dadao grew heavier, sharper, and more unstable.
The old man raised his blade slowly.
Buzz!
A terrifying sword hum spread across the chamber.
Even the surrounding stone walls started showing deep cuts from the invisible sharp energy leaking out from his weapon.
At the same time, Arkaal raised his other hand.
A bronze-colored shield suddenly flew out from his storage ring and floated around him automatically. The shield was covered in strange poison runes that glowed faintly.
The moment Zyn fired another torrent of poison flames toward him, the shield released a dark barrier.
Boom!
The draconic poison flames slammed against the barrier but failed to break through immediately. For the first time since the battle had started, Zyn’s attacks were directly neutralized.
Then Arkaal revealed his next move. Three large formation seals appeared around him.
In the next moment, three massive poison beasts emerged from the seals.
Roar!
Hiss!
Screeech!
One was a giant black centipede covered in poisonous spikes.
Another was a green-scaled lizard with three tails.
The last was a huge spider-like creature with long sharp limbs dripping dark poison.
All three were late-stage 3rd Order poison beasts. Although they were weaker than Zyn individually, their movements immediately showed coordination.
It was clear they were trained to fight together. The three beasts quickly surrounded Zyn from different directions.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The battle instantly became much more chaotic. The centipede restrained Zyn’s movements. The spider sprayed sticky poison webs toward its wings. Meanwhile, the three-tailed lizard attacked relentlessly from the sides.
Arkaal himself also joined the assault with enhanced Weapon Intent.
Slash!
A deep wound appeared across Zyn’s shoulder. The wyvern roared angrily.
Dark green blood splashed onto the ground and immediately melted the stone floor.
Inside the barrier, Aksai’s expression became more serious.
Within barely a minute, the situation had changed completely.
Zyn’s earlier advantage had vanished rapidly. Its huge body, which had once seemed overwhelming, was now becoming a target from multiple sides.
And Arkaal’s attacks had become far sharper than before after consuming the Spirit potion. But Arkaal was still not done.
The old man waved his sleeve once more. Several dark figures suddenly emerged from another storage artifact. Aksai’s eyes narrowed immediately.
Poison humanoids.
Their bodies looked rotten and stitched together strangely. Their skin was pale green and filled with cracks leaking poison gas. Their eyes were completely empty.
No consciousness.
No emotions.
Only killing intent.
The creatures immediately charged toward Zyn recklessly without caring about their own lives.
Some exploded into poisonous gas when struck. Others clung onto Zyn’s body while releasing corrosive toxins directly into its wounds. Aksai’s eyes became colder.
’Those things…’
For a brief moment, memories flashed through his mind.
The isolated dimension of the Heavenly Poison Sect.
The poison undeads.
The similarities were too obvious.
’So this old man had once visited the Heavenly Poison Sect’s isolated dimension too?’ Aksai thought quickly.
Or perhaps there was another hidden way to enter it. Perhaps the Poison Gu King himself had given this inheritance to his disciple and it was the Poison Gu King who had once entered that isolated dimension a long time ago.
Either way, Arkaal clearly possessed methods related to that ancient poison inheritance. And he had his own ways to make use of that inheritance.
Boom!
Another sword slash landed across Zyn’s scales. The wyvern roared painfully this time.
Aksai finally stopped hesitating.
’Old man,’ he thought coldly. ’You’re not the only one who can use minions to fight your battles.’
A faint smirk appeared on his face.
The flute melody instantly changed again.
Melody of Daze.
Melody of Panic.
Melody of Sweet Slumber.
All the Soul Songs erupted together one after another. Arkaal’s movements slowed briefly. The poison beasts also became slightly disoriented.
At the same time, thick vines burst out from the ground once more, temporarily separating Arkaal and his summons from Zyn.
“You have done enough. Rest now. I’ll handle things from here,” Aksai muttered softly.
The space behind him suddenly distorted violently.
Dozens of figures started emerging rapidly.
Woodland Fiends.
