A Farmer's Journey To Immortality

Chapter 640: Goodbye Sharang P2

Chapter 640: Goodbye Sharang P2

Reymon looked at Aksai with a bright smile as he said.

“But master, it’s strange.

“Even though it feels heavy, I also feel… lighter. Clearer. I’m not afraid of the tree devils anymore. I’m waiting for them. Let them come. This time, I won’t just defend Sharang… I’ll make them regret ever stepping into this world.”

“That’s the spirit,” Aksai said as he nodded.

Reymon bowed deeply one last time. “Master, I won’t disappoint you.”

Aksai waved his hand lightly. “We’ll meet again, when the time is right.”

With that, Aksai’s figure flickered and vanished from sight, leaving Reymon alone in the hallway.

Reymon stood still for a long moment.

“…Alright,” he muttered. “Let’s begin.”

After Aksai left, the city of Red Springs underwent a silent change.

The day before, it had been a ruined land covered in ash, broken stones, and the bodies of fallen martial artists. Even the air had felt thick with grief.

But now…

The city looked almost reborn.

The first and most striking change was the red sapling in the center of the city. This tiny sapling had replaced the giant Demon Tree that suddenly vanished into thin air.

It was nothing like the vicious Demon Tree from before. Its leaves had a soft glow, and its stem pulsed faintly like a living heartbeat.

This sapling had been changed at its core—designed to grow into a towering tree that would bear fruit that was supposed to be a fusion between both Flesh Pumpkins and Golden Rebirth Fruits.

Even as a sapling, it looked unusual and sacred.

All around the city square, rare plants had been carefully placed in organized clusters. Argent-level herbs grew in neat rows along the pathways, their silvery leaves releasing a cool, refreshing scent that made the air easier to breathe.

Some of these herbs were normally found only in deep mountain valleys, yet here they grew as if the soil had always belonged to them.

Closer to the inner roads, Aurous-level flowers stood tall with graceful petals that shimmered faintly like liquid gold. These flowers released strands of Qi into the environment, making the entire city feel richer and easier to cultivate in.

Even an ordinary person walking through Red Springs would feel a bit lighter and clearer in the mind.

It was as if Aksai had cultivated the plants he had obtained from Reymon’s vault and then magically transported them to this city after altering their genetic codes to make them even more resilient to nature’s changes.

These plants didn’t need much care. Plus, the resources they produced would be more than enough to sustain the entire population of Red Springs and even more beyond that.

Aksai had designed the formerly ruined city in such a way that every plant, every vine, and every tree had its own purpose. Nothing was placed at random. It was as if he wanted to show that he was just as skilled in creating and organizing as he was in destroying.

Thick vines from Qi-rich forest species curled around newly rebuilt buildings. Instead of dragging the structures down, these vines supported them like natural pillars. They tightened when strong winds blew and relaxed when the air was calm, stabilizing the buildings better than iron beams.

The walls of the city were covered with textured bark-like plating from Demon Tree wood, but instead of giving a dark and eerie look, the wood was arranged in beautiful, flowing patterns. Soft green moss had been encouraged to grow between the wood plates, creating a natural mural across the outer walls.

Many streets were now shaded by rare trees transplanted from distant lands. Their branches crisscrossed high above, forming canopies that filtered sunlight into gentle streaks. The breeze carried the faint smell of plant Qi everywhere, like a forest brought to life inside an urban center.

Houses that were once made of dull stone were now built with a blend of polished rock and living roots. The roots strengthened the structures, and some homes even had windows framed by blooming vines. A few buildings had small gardens on their rooftops, where low-tier herbs grew without the need for constant care.

The old city layout had been kept, but everything else had blended into nature’s embrace. Red Springs had become something rare—a woodland city.

Not wild. Not messy. But a smooth fusion of urban design and natural beauty.

The city streets curved gently around clusters of plants. Small Qi ponds had formed from redirected underground streams, their waters reflecting the golden glow of Aurous flowers. Wooden bridges made from Demon Tree roots arched over these ponds, strong and safe enough to last for decades.

At night, the city would not need lamps anymore. Many of the new plants glowed softly with their own natural light—greens, blues, and faint golds. The faint shine made the pathways visible and turned the entire area into a calm dreamscape.

The later generations of the martial artists would dream to go to this city. They would be told that this city was destroyed by the heavens and rebuilt by a god.

***

At this moment.

At the raised platform where Aksai had gone through his Celestial Wrath test, artisans hired by the Grand Martial Hall worked on a tall stone statue.

Dust rose as they carved out the calm features of Aksai, captured in his meditating pose. The statue was already almost four stories tall. When finished, it would face the sapling, as though watching over the rebirth of the city.

Of course, once the red sapling grew into the giant tree it was meant to become, the statue would look tiny in comparison. But that didn’t matter.

The people only wanted a reminder of the man who had changed the entire civilization of Sharang at the cost of a few lives lost.

Some of Sharang’s denizens were bound to criticize Aksai for all his actions and his unperturbed killing of thousands of martial artists. They would try to vandalize all the small and big statues that were going to get built all across Sharang.

However, there would be others who would worship Aksai and try to find something good in every deed that he had done while being here. The truth lies between the two extremes. But neither side would focus on such a bland form of truth.

Later that day, citizens who had fled Red Springs slowly returned.

They walked through the gates with caution at first… then shock… then awe.

What they saw was not the broken city they had left behind.

It was a new place—quiet, strong, and strangely full of hope.

None of them knew it yet, but this city, rebuilt around Aksai’s influence, would one day become a sacred ground for all martial artists in Sharang. A place people would travel to from far away… to grow, to learn, and break past their martial limits.

For now, though, they simply stared at the red sapling and the rising statue, wondering what kind of future this strange, changed city would bring.

AN: With this Chapter, we’re officially wrapping up the Sharang Revisit mini-arc!

Aksai learned way more from this little world than it first seemed, and it really helped him grow. But now it’s time to say our goodbyes to Sharang and head toward a world that’s going to challenge him properly — and offer way better opportunities.

Hope you guys enjoyed this mini arc! I know it dragged a bit in the middle, but since we were leaving Sharang for good, I wanted to cover things properly.

I also gave Sharang extra attention because it was the very first world Aksai visited using the Myriad Worlds Painting. The upcoming worlds won’t get the same level of detail — partly because I want to leave more to your imagination. 🙂

Anyway, stay tuned because next up is the World of Brutenia, the main stage of this arc — Prana Knights, a “new” power path, and a whole lot more. 😉

We’ll tie up a few loose ends in Dadangar over the next ten or so Chapters, and then we’re diving straight into the new world!
