A Farmer's Journey To Immortality

Chapter 596: Melody of Sweet Slumber & Melody of Healing

Chapter 596: Melody of Sweet Slumber & Melody of Healing

Aksai also couldn’t risk a mass healing spell.

Spirit spells were too potent for unadapted bodies. That left him with only one option—his druidic power.

He walked to the center of the room and reached into his Soul Space. From within, he drew out a slender, elegant flute. Its surface shimmered faintly as if alive. This was Bansi—his Soul Weapon that he had obtained in the Holy Land Torel.

As soon as he held it, a faint hum filled the air. Aksai’s expression softened slightly. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, feeling the connection between his soul and the flute. The instrument seemed to whisper in response, its voice gentle and melodic inside his mind.

Then he looked at Zinnia, who was watching in confusion. “You might want to close your ears,” he said with a small smile.

Zinnia blinked. “Close my ears?”

“Just trust me,” Aksai said quietly.

Though unsure, she obeyed and used her golden Qi to seal her hearing.

Aksai lifted the flute to his lips. For a brief moment, the world around him went silent. Then, the first soft notes flowed out—calm and soothing, like a lullaby carried by the evening wind. It was the Melody of Sweet Slumber, one of his recent creations.

Within seconds, the injured began to relax. Their ragged breathing eased. The tension in their limbs melted away. One by one, they drifted into deep, peaceful sleep.

Aksai didn’t stop there. The tune changed, the notes shifting into a more vibrant rhythm. This was the Melody of Green Growth.

As he played, faint green light spread from the floor, and tender sprouts pushed through the cracks between the tiles. In moments, those sprouts grew into small plants, each topped with a cluster of yellow flowers that glowed softly.

The melody changed once more. Aksai began playing the Melody of Healing.

The yellow flowers swayed gently, and their petals began to fall. The petals floated through the air like golden flakes of sunlight, settling over the sleeping martial artists. As they touched skin, they dissolved into faint light and seeped into the wounds.

The cuts closed. Bruises faded. Broken bones realigned themselves with faint cracking sounds before knitting whole again.

Within a minute, the air that had once smelled of pain now carried a light, fresh scent of flowers. The injured stirred in their sleep, their faces peaceful and free of suffering.

When the last note faded, Aksai lowered the flute. The light plants withered quietly and disappeared as if they had never existed.

Zinnia opened her ears again and looked around in disbelief. The injured were breathing evenly, their wounds gone.

“Un… unbelievable.”

She turned to Aksai, tears forming in her eyes—not of sorrow this time, but of gratitude.

“My lord…” she whispered. “You healed them… all of them.”

Aksai gave a faint smile, tucking Bansi away inside his Soul Space. “It was the least I could do,” he said quietly.

Zinnia bowed deeply, her voice trembling. “Thank you, my lord. Truly.”

Aksai turned toward the sealed door and waved his hand, undoing the barrier. “Go on,” he said softly. “Let them rest.”

The Spirit farmer then walked toward the window. The night breeze felt a bit chilly to the naked skin. Without saying a word, he placed one hand on the window frame and leapt out.

In one smooth motion, he pushed off the ground, his figure blurring as he used a light movement technique. His feet barely touched the wall before he sprang again, landing silently on the roof of the two-story building. The tiles shifted slightly under his weight, but he stood tall, his robes fluttering in the wind.

A moment later, Zinnia followed him. She gathered her Qi, jumped up, and lightly landed beside him. Her breathing was slightly uneven due the uneven spikes of emotions she had experienced, but her eyes were fixed on Aksai.

The night sky above them was quiet, the moonlight casting long shadows across the rooftops. In the distance, smoke rose from the outskirts of the compound where the earlier battle had taken place. The silence between them was heavy.

Aksai stood with his hands behind his back, staring at the far-off hills. His expression was blank, as if his mind was far away.

Zinnia hesitated before speaking. “My lord… I… I don’t understand.”

Her voice trembled slightly. “As per your suggestion, I started cooperating with the Grand Martial Hall. We weren’t on the best of terms, but things were improving. There was no more open hostility like before. So why would they suddenly attack us after we held up our end of the deal?”

Aksai’s eyes didn’t move from the distance. He spoke calmly. “It’s not about the exchange anymore. They’re not looking for more martial arts techniques from you. At least not from you.”

He turned his head slightly, the moonlight glinting off his sharp features. “I knew they would see through my plan eventually. I expected them to make a move against you sooner or later. But…” He paused for a moment, his expression darkening. “I didn’t think their leader would be clever enough to read my intentions and act this decisively.”

Zinnia’s eyes widened. “My lord, you mean…”

Aksai nodded before she could finish. “That’s right. This attack isn’t meant to destroy your school or take your people’s lives. It’s meant to draw me out.”

He turned his gaze upward, the wind rustling his hair. “They know I wouldn’t stay hidden if they targeted you. I’m guessing they’ve already sent more martial artists to surround this place.”

He let out a quiet breath, almost a sigh, but there was a faint smile playing on his lips—cold and dangerous. “They’ll be coming soon with the intention to finish what they started. To make sure I show myself.”

He looked at Zinnia then, his eyes gleaming faintly with amusement. “Well, these pests have succeeded. I’m out.”

Aksai’s expression shifted, his lips curling into a wicked smile. “And speak of the little pests,” he murmured.

Before Zinnia could ask what he meant, faint movements appeared at the edges of the compound.

Dozens of shadows slipped silently across the rooftops and through the courtyards, their presence masked by Qi suppression techniques. But Aksai could feel them clearly. Their killing intent spread through the air.
