Chapter 85: Crossing the Lava Sea
Ye Shiyuan had already made his decision.
Bai He didn’t stop him.
If they wanted to get through this trial, Bai He knew that confronting the lava dragon directly was the only way; otherwise, they wouldn’t be able to complete it.
The lava churned violently once again, the sight alone striking terror into anyone who looked at it.
The dragon surged out of the molten sea again and charging straight toward Ye Shiyuan.
Ye Shiyuan gripped the Heavenly Sin Divine Sword in his hand and charged forward without hesitation.
Xu Feng shut his eyes tightly and don’t want to see the scene in front of him.
He was terrified that in a single careless moment, he would witness Ye Shiyuan being burned to ashes in a tragic scene.
Yet Bai He who is standing firm beside him kept his eyes fixed on the dragon.
Even knowing it was manageable, his heart couldn’t help but tighten with tension.
The main reason was that this flame dragon looked far too terrifying.
But the thing Xu Feng feared did not happen.
In an instant, the Heavenly Sin Divine Sword in Ye Shiyuan’s hand sliced cleanly through the flame dragon.
The dragon instantly reverted into molten lava and sank back into the lava sea disappearing from view once more.
Ye Shiyuan returned to where they were and concealing the Heavenly Sin Divine Sword in his hand.
"Master, I know now how to get through this trial," he said calmly.
Xu Feng looked at him in astonishment. "Really? Senior Brother, how did you figure it out?"
Ye Shiyuan smiled faintly. "I’ll go first. You can follow right after me."
Xu Feng and Bai He followed Ye Shiyuan as he approached the pool. Then, without hesitation, Ye Shiyuan leapt straight into it.
Xu Feng couldn’t help but exclaim in shock, almost letting out a scream.
"Master... Senior Brother has gone mad."
In Xu Feng’s mind, wasn’t Ye Shiyuan absolutely crazy?
Yet, that was not the case.
Ye Shiyuan entered the molten lava and astonishingly, nothing happened to him.
Instead, it was as if he were in water, swimming freely and effortlessly.
"Master, Junior Brother, it’s fine. Come down."
"Fine?" Xu Feng was stunned.
Although he didn’t believe it at first, the reality in front of him left him no choice but to accept it.
After he summoning his courage, he said, "Master, I’ll go down first. You follow afterward."
With that, Xu Feng jumped straight in.
Just like Ye Shiyuan, he was completely unharmed.
"Host, this trial is actually a test of courage. If either of them harbored fear or hesitation in their hearts, they would have already been overwhelmed," Mo Zhu explained.
Indeed, if Ye Shiyuan had felt fear, things would not have unfolded this way.
Without Ye Shiyuan taking the lead, Xu Feng would never have realized that the seemingly terrifying lava was, in truth, not as dangerous as it appeared.
After Bai He aware of this, he naturally felt no panic at all.
Xu Feng that was now below called out to Bai He who closed his eyes and then leapt down.
It wasn’t that Bai He feared the lava, he just felt the jump was a bit high.
It’s just a slight acrophobia, nothing more.
Ye Shiyuan immediately caught him effortlessly.
"Master, be careful."
After Bai He opening his eyes, he said, "Thanks."
"Senior Brother, you’re so biased! Why didn’t you catch me when I fell just now?"
Ye Shiyuan glanced at Xu Feng but said nothing. "Master, follow me. I’ll take you to the other side."
Xu Feng noticed the blatant favoritism but didn’t comment further, he silently following them along.
Once they reached the shore, Bai He didn’t hold back: "Xiao Feng, you’re so jealous. From the looks of it, I’d almost think there’s some secret between you and Ye Shiyuan that you don’t want me to know."
Ye Shiyuan’s expression immediately changed instantly. "Master, don’t say such things."
Bai He stuck out his tongue and said bashfully, "I’m just joking. Who told him to look so jealous in the first place?"
It wasn’t just Bai He, Xu Feng also looked exasperated. "Master, don’t talk nonsense. My feelings toward Senior Brother are purely brotherly. And... Master, aren’t you only fifteen? How do you know so much already?"
"Uh..."
"Um..."
Bai He hesitated, thinking about how to explain it, when Ye Shiyuan spoke up first, his tone carrying a subtle authority: "Master, from now on, you’re not allowed to read those books anymore."
Ye Shiyuan that Bai He’s current state must have come from reading too many random and messy books in his free time.
"Oh." Bai He responded lightly, showing no temper.
Could this really be blamed on him?
No, it was Xu Feng’s fault for saying such things.
Bai He shot Xu Feng a sharp glance.
Xu Feng immediately raised an eyebrow and said, "Master, why are you so spineless? Senior Brother is scolding you so fiercely, you should fight back like you do with me."
"Ye Shiyuan is much more sensible than you," Bai He remarked.
And indeed, although Bai He was the Master, the one who truly handled the Master’s responsibilities was clearly Ye Shiyuan.
Did Xu Feng not realize that?
One could say that everything Xu Feng had learned so far aside from the few sword manuals Bai He had given him and the single sword he had been granted was all thanks to Ye Shiyuan.
"Master, I’ve realized something. Not only is Senior Brother biased, but you’re biased too."
"Enough," Bai He whispered to Xu Feng, "Think about it, if Ye Shiyuan were gone, what would happen to our Bai Rong Peak? Who would teach you then?"
Xu Feng’s expression brightened with sudden understanding.
Of course, Ye Shiyuan also had overheard this, but he wasn’t angry.
In fact, he rather enjoyed the atmosphere.
"Master, your voice is too loud," he added kindly, almost like a helpful reminder.
Bai He’s face flushed in embarrassment.
He had thought Ye Shiyuan hadn’t heard him.
