After Lu Chen got up, the two of them finished breakfast, and Fu Xiaoxiao took Lu Chen to the back mountain.

"Mrs. Fu, what are we going to do at the back mountain?" Lu Chen asked in confusion while holding Fu Xiaoxiao’s hand. "The herbs have almost been picked clean by my brother and me."

Fu Xiaoxiao looked at the woods, paying attention to nearby movements. "Have you forgotten? The mushroom patch we discovered last time?"

"Oh, I remember now. Does Mrs. Fu want to pick mushrooms?" Lu Chen took the initiative to hold Fu Xiaoxiao and walk forward; he knew where that patch was, more familiar with the area than Fu Xiaoxiao.

Knowing where to go, Lu Chen quickened his pace, leading Fu Xiaoxiao to the mushroom patch they found last time.

Fu Xiaoxiao cleared the debris in front; sure enough, the mushrooms had grown back underneath. Next to a water source, without sunshine, the mushrooms were plump, perfect for picking.

Lu Chen helped Fu Xiaoxiao pick quite a few, placing them in Fu Xiaoxiao’s basket.

When they had picked enough, Fu Xiaoxiao patted Lu Chen’s hand, covering them with some material to let them continue growing.

"Shall we have mushroom soup today?" Lu Chen jumped with excitement; he liked the mushroom soup from last time.

"No, these are picked for Grandpa Bai." Fu Xiaoxiao smiled as she ruffled Lu Chen’s hair. "It’s been a while since we visited Grandpa Bai, right? When your brother’s on holiday, I’ll take you guys to see Grandpa Bai and your mom."

"...Oh." Lu Chen unhappily kicked the nearby weeds, resistant to seeing the mother who abandoned him.

Noticing Lu Chen’s unhappiness, Fu Xiaoxiao ruffled his hair. "You don’t have to go; you can play at Grandpa Bai’s house. I’ll take your brother."

"No, I want to go with you." Lu Chen shook his head; he wanted to follow Fu Xiaoxiao.

Fu Xiaoxiao smiled, nodding at his head, just about to speak when something furry quickly darted past her feet.

"Mom, it’s a wild rabbit," Lu Chen’s eyes lit up, letting go of Fu Xiaoxiao’s hand and rushing toward the wild rabbit.

The wild rabbit was very alert; when Lu Chen touched it, it immediately turned and ran elsewhere, disappearing into the grass.

Fu Xiaoxiao chased after it and indeed found a rabbit hole in the grass.

She took off her basket, emptied the mushrooms, and put them aside.

"Chen Chen, wait here with the basket; I’ll drive them out." Fu Xiaoxiao searched around and indeed found several rabbit holes, blocked off others, leaving two for Lu Chen to wait at the entrance.

"Okay!" Lu Chen had caught rabbits with Lu Lin before, quickly laid on the ground and blocked the entrance with the basket.

Fu Xiaoxiao stood at another entrance, surrounded it with a pile of dried leaves, lit them with matches, then covered the entrance with rocks.

After a while, smoke began to rise inside the hole; Fu Xiaoxiao watched as the entrances started to smoke, and the rabbits inside ran around. "Chen Chen, they’re coming."

Hearing Fu Xiaoxiao’s call, Lu Chen grabbed the basket forcefully, a gray figure darted out of the hole and ran into the basket, followed by the second, third, fourth...

Fu Xiaoxiao hurried over to help, seeing inside the basket, two big rabbits accompanied by five or six little ones, all crowded together.

"Nicely done." Fu Xiaoxiao gave Lu Chen a high-five.

"Hehe." Lu Chen rubbed his nose with his finger, looking at the rabbits in the basket, full of a sense of accomplishment.

In the past, he and his brother could only catch one; this time, he and Mrs. Fu caught an entire litter. When his brother was back, he had to tell him how awesome he was.

"Let’s go home." Fu Xiaoxiao took the basket from Lu Chen, holding it close to prevent the rabbits from jumping out, covering with her hand.

Lu Chen took off his jacket next to him, put the mushrooms in it, and followed Fu Xiaoxiao down the mountain.

Back home, Fu Xiaoxiao put a pair of male rabbits in the corner, used a woodpile to surround the female rabbits and bunnies, temporarily making a nest.

"Is rabbit meat tasty?" Lu Chen squatted beside them, looking at the rabbits inside, his eyes full of craving for meat.

"It’s delicious." Fu Xiaoxiao replied with a smile. "Tonight, I’ll make you some braised rabbit meat."

"Yay!" Lu Chen cheered excitedly.

"Mom’s going to the hospital, can you watch the little rabbits at home? Don’t let them run away." Fu Xiaoxiao asked Lu Chen.

"Sure, mom, go ahead! I’ll definitely keep an eye on them." Lu Chen chuckled, moving a small stool to sit next to the nest, eagerly watching the furry little bunnies.

Fu Xiaoxiao arrived at the hospital; Xu Yan, who was passing by, quickly walked up. "Little sister-in-law, why are you here?"

"Just sister-in-law is fine, why add ’little’?" Fu Xiaoxiao asked Xu Yan, puzzled at how he got to calling her little sister-in-law.

"Because you look younger than me!" Xu Yan looked at Fu Xiaoxiao’s face, believing he was at least five years older than her; calling her a sister would also be fine.

"Then why do you call Lu Feng–brother?" Fu Xiaoxiao asked, even more confused, logically he being older than Lu Feng shouldn’t call him brother, then not her sister-in-law either.

"Uh... Well..." Xu Yan touched his nose awkwardly. "Back when we first joined the military, I was hot-headed. His defiant attitude annoyed me, so we made a bet; the loser of a training had to call the other brother."

"Oh, you lost to him!" Fu Xiaoxiao laughed.

Affirmative sentence.

"..." Xu Yan gritted his teeth. She’s not cute at all, pouncing on people’s weaknesses. "Did you come to the hospital to find someone? Or is something wrong?"

"Oh, what medicine to take if your body feels cold? Lately feeling somewhat chilled, like being pressed down, aching all over." Fu Xiaoxiao looked at Xu Yan, speaking slowly.

"This isn’t good; come here quickly, I’ll prescribe you some medicine for a couple of days, you mustn’t get sick." Xu Yan quickly pulled Fu Xiaoxiao to the office, prescribing her medicine.
