Fu Xiaoxiao looked amusedly at Lu Feng, was he doing it on purpose?

Lu Feng’s lips curled up as he waved his hand at Lu Chen. Lu Chen glanced at Fu Xiaoxiao, deep down he wanted to learn skills from Lu Feng to protect Fu Xiaoxiao, to make sure she wouldn’t get bullied by bad people again.

"Mr. Lu, go ahead and speak! I’ll definitely train well with you! I want to protect mom!" Lu Chen’s eyes were firm, at such a young age he didn’t know what to do, he didn’t want to feel helpless again.

Fu Xiaoxiao thought the same as she sat beside and watched Lu Chen maintain the horse stance, sure enough, in no time, Lu Chen began to tremble and reached his limit.

Fu Xiaoxiao thought he would stop, but Lu Chen persisted, even though sweat drenched his forehead, he didn’t stop.

Lu Feng looked at Lu Chen in astonishment—such determination in Lu Chen reminded him of his father.

The two of them did not disturb Lu Chen until he finally couldn’t hold on and fell to the ground, defeatedly pounding it.

"Sorry, I didn’t do well." Lu Chen despondently stood before Lu Feng, feeling too foolish for not even mastering such a simple move.

"It’s alright, I know you’ve tried hard. Continue tomorrow, add time little by little." Lu Feng glanced at his watch, Lu Chen managed to hold on for almost thirty minutes on his first attempt; this was already very commendable for a child trying it for the first time.

Fu Xiaoxiao pulled Lu Chen closer to wipe the sweat from his head and realized he was soaked through. "Quickly go back and change clothes, you’re all drenched, a breeze might chill you."

"Okay." Lu Chen obediently headed to his room.

Lu Feng chuckled at Fu Xiaoxiao. "This kid is determined; he lasted almost thirty minutes."

"He’s only five, isn’t it too young? Will it affect his physical development?" Fu Xiaoxiao expressed concern.

"Five isn’t too young anymore. Starting tomorrow, I’ll personally take Lu Lin and Lu Chen to run five kilometers before school." Lu Feng felt motivated seeing how hard Lu Chen worked today.

The education of the two children couldn’t proceed without him.

"Lu Chen, every morning from now on, you and your brother will wake up to exercise with me," Lu Feng said as Lu Chen emerged carrying his dirty clothes.

"Okay." Lu Chen nodded with excitement, without a hint of reluctance, rather, he looked forward to it.

Fu Xiaoxiao watched him, thinking other kids would avoid it at all costs, but Lu Chen was surprisingly thrilled.

When Lu Lin returned, he readily agreed upon hearing Lu Feng’s decision. He shared the same sentiment as Lu Chen, wanting to prevent history from repeating itself.

Next door, Chen Xiu overheard Lu Feng and glanced at her own two naughty children, and stepped out to say, "Mr. Lu, can you possibly include my two little rascals..."

Before Chen Xiu could finish, Li Lei and Li Sen screamed their refusal.

Chen Xiu’s face turned rigid, as Lu Feng was about to agree, her own two rascals resisted vehemently.

"Sorry, it’s embarrassing." Chen Xiu felt ashamed as she picked up a nearby stick and swung it at the two misbehaving children.

"Mom! Aunt Fu, help!" Li Lei screamed, calling Fu Xiaoxiao for help.

Fu Xiaoxiao hurried over. "Sister-in-law, don’t be mad, kids love playing, it’s their nature."

"Oh dear, sister! These two rascals are driving me crazy, look at little Xiao Chen so young yet willing to train along. Mine are older than your Lu Lin, yet still play around like this! It’s maddening!" Chen Xiu was exasperated that her children weren’t living up to her expectations!

"My husband never bothers with the kids, and it’s wearing me down!" Chen Xiu griped to Fu Xiaoxiao. "I try to discipline them, but he defends them. I say no, he secretly lets them."

The kids aren’t just hers, yet every time she disciplines them, her husband intervenes to protect them.

As a result, the two rascals grew rowdier, not listening at all.

In the end, she’s the one who gets blamed.

Whenever something goes wrong, she’s accused of not raising them properly.

"It’s unfair..." Chen Xiu clung to Fu Xiaoxiao, venting her frustrations.

Watching Lu Chen being such a good child, Chen Xiu felt a flood of grievances. She envied how children of similar age could be so different!

Lu Lin always came home to work on homework immediately—never procrastinated. Her two, however, returned from school and tossed their backpacks aside, then dashed outside to play.

"The kids aren’t just yours, they need their dad’s company too. If you forbid it, yet he permits it, naturally over time, in their minds, they won’t listen; what you say doesn’t count, their dad will negate you." Fu Xiaoxiao patted Chen Xiu’s hand, such issues stem from a lack of communication between spouses.

"Exactly! Just like you said! The kids aren’t solely mine, how come the good is his doing and the bad always falls on me, claiming I taught them wrong!" Chen Xiu poured her grievances out, feeling overwhelmed.

Others in the courtyard didn’t think this was a big deal. They only said she’s the mother, it should be her responsibility.

Chen Xiu couldn’t find a proper channel to vent her frustrations.

When Li Si returned, he saw Fu Xiaoxiao at home, paused for a moment and nodded to Fu Xiaoxiao as a greeting.

Chen Xiu shot Li Si a glare. "That’s my husband, he’s wooden as a post usually, besides bickering with me, he’s useless."

Li Si heard Chen Xiu’s complaints and pressed his lips. "What nonsense are you spouting! Go make dinner! Day after day at home enjoying leisure, can’t even manage these trivial matters, not raising kids well either! You sure babble on!"

"Did I say anything wrong? All mistakes get pinned on me—kids not doing homework is something I allowed? You were the one who said not to make them! Now when they don’t study properly, just play all day, when I chastise them, you defend them. How about you discipline, you manage them, and then you claim you’re busy!" Chen Xiu was ignited by Li Si’s remark, she worked diligently day after day and in his eyes, it’s leisure at home?
