Chapter 2760: Chapter 2760: Stop, Don’t Leave! (Part 1)

"Just now... you were smoking?"

In Meimei’s beautiful eyes, there was nothing but shock, like she was meeting Jiang Nan for the first time.

Jiang Nan’s gaze flickered. Seeing how surprised she looked, he knew she really had seen him just now. Was that why she’d been so startled she forgot to move out of the way, almost getting hit by the car.

"Yeah, just a couple of drags, I’m not addicted." Jiang Nan shoved both hands in his pockets and answered honestly.

As the words fell, seeing her dazed look, he frowned, reached out and pressed down on her little head. "A man smoking, is it really that surprising?"

From how scared she looked, it was like he’d done something unbelievable.

He normally really didn’t smoke, only when he was particularly annoyed he’d have one. Who knew she’d happen to see it.

If he’d known she would come to the parking lot, he wouldn’t have smoked in front of her.

"...Does Tingye smoke too?" After hearing what he said, Meimei stayed quiet for a long while before finally forcing out a sentence.

"..."

Jiang Nan’s eyes instantly dimmed. Looking at her innocent little face, his hand at his side silently clenched into a fist.

She saw him smoking, and her first reaction was only to wonder if Dan Tingye smoked too?

How had he never noticed it before—that whenever she was with him, every three sentences she said would circle back to Dan Tingye. She always liked to ask him about Dan Tingye, paying attention to his every move.

Back then he’d only thought of Dan Tingye as the older brother they both respected, and he’d even be proud to tell Meimei about things between the two brothers. Only today did he finally realize that what she’d always wanted to know was never what had happened to him, but what had happened to her Tingye.

"You came here just to ask me that?" Jiang Nan’s eyes narrowed. He pulled back the hand on her head, turned around, and started walking toward the sports car.

Meimei snapped out of it and hurried after him. "Of course not, I came to find you. You disappeared for two days, I was worried about you."

"..."

At those words, Jiang Nan’s steps faltered. He turned around and stared fixedly at her.

"What did you just say?"

"I came for you." Meimei bit her lip. Being stared at like that made her scalp tingle, but she forced herself to answer.

"The next sentence." Jiang Nan suddenly spoke.

Meimei opened her mouth timidly. "You disappeared for two days..."

"The one after that!" Jiang Nan’s tone carried a trace of urgency.

She’d just said she was worried about him. So she did worry about him too—not just about Tingye, is that it?

Or were those words just his imagination?

"..."

Meimei was stunned by his shout, blinking her innocent big eyes, looking at him in confusion.

It wasn’t until a long moment later, when the light in Jiang Nan’s eyes dimmed bit by bit and he was about to get in the car, that she suddenly reached out and grabbed the hem of his shirt.

"Jiang Nan, what’s wrong with you? Did I do something to make you unhappy? You can scold me, or even hit me, just don’t ignore me like this. When you disappeared, I was really worried about you, I was scared something might happen to you..."

Before she could finish, Jiang Nan had already turned around in a rush. Looking at her conflicted little face, he suddenly reached out and pulled her into his arms.

Her petite body only came up to his chest. When he tightened his hold, it felt like he could press her into his own body. She was clearly this close to him, so why was it still impossible between them?!

She’d just said she was worried about him. Did that mean, in her heart, there was at least a little bit... that cared about him?
