"I am not here for that," Gu fan sighed through the mask. he should have thought it through. To be misunderstood as a rapist? He had hit a new low.

He shook his head and explained with his patience running low.

"You will take this letter to Commander Hu Ba of the Blood Iron Guild," Gu Fan said calmly, voice low and pleasant, "You will tell him that the Second Young Master of the Gu Clan sent you."

"Don’t you dare be sneaky," Gu Fan warned the maid, "If you open it, if you speak of this to anyone else, if you even think about screaming, I will know."

"Then I will find every member of your family, I will find your boyfriend and I will feed them to the same goat that just became famous. Do you understand?"

"Umm..." The maid nodded so hard her teeth clicked.

"Now leave," Gu fan moved away giving the maid way to leave, "And don’t you dare stop to eventake a breath."

"Because..."

"You will know." The maid didn’t needed to be told twice as she sprinted away as fast she could as if her life depended on this piece of paper. Because it did.

The letter inside was written in the name of Gu Bao and the content of the letter was very simple:

*Hu Ba,*

*The cripple is still breathing and Gu chen still dares to be the apple of everyone’s eyes. the only way I can still become the patriarch is when they are removed from my way."

"From what I know, Gu Chen knows about your little trick with the compass. He is going to come after you sooner or later."

"So it is best if you strike first."

"I want Gu Chen’s head on my desk before dawn. The Li Clan will pay three times the usual rate in high-grade spirit stones the moment the job is done. Do not fail me.*

*Gu Bao*

Inside the Blood Iron fortress, Hu Ba was already in a towering rage. He had just been informed that three of his captains were lying dead with their throats and faces rearranged, and a piece of blood-soaked Gu Clan silk had been found under the bodies.

And just when he wanted to order his men to overturn the town and find out who did it, he was informed of a messenger on his doorsteps.

When the shaking maid handed him the letter and fled, Hu Ba read it once.

Then he read it again.

Then he kicked a solid oak table across the room hard enough to splinter it against the wall.

"FIRST the Bai Clan pays me to fuck the Gu Clan over," he roared, veins standing out on his thick neck, "THEN the Gu Clan butchers my men in the street, AND NOW the Second Young Master offers me money to finish the job?! These bloody clan bastards think they can play screw me from both sides and walk away?!"

And while the maid watched, Hu Ba trashed the room to obliteration.

Finally when he clamed down, he pointed at one of his men. He was a newly Origin realm Cultivator.

"Take some Peak Spirit Realm killers. Go to the Gu Clan. Find the white-robed pretty boy. Cut him into pieces small enough to fit in a wine jug and bring me the head."

"If anyone from the Gu Clan interferes, kill them too. Tonight we remind this entire valley who actually runs the dark alleys!"

The man quickly acknowledged and bowed in front of Hu ba before vanishing like smoke.

"If the Gu Clan wants a bloody war, then I will personally deliver their precious Golden Boy’s severed head!"

Meanwhile, Gu Chen had just sneaked back into his secluded private courtyard, stripping off his grey cloak and sitting heavily on his bed while his paranoid mind actively raced with thoughts of violent revenge against the mercenaries.

But exactly as he closed his eyes to meditate, the heavy wooden windows of his courtyard violently shattered inward, and eight masked mercenaries aggressively dropped into the room with jagged, poison-coated sabers already drawn, and killing intent so thick it made the air taste metallic.

Gu Chen’s eyes snapped open.

For one frozen heartbeat he simply stared.

Then a savage, almost relieved smile split his face.

"So you finally made the first move?" he whispered. "Good. I won’t have to hunt you down one by one."

His silver sword left its sheath in a silver arc of light.

The courtyard became a slaughterhouse.

Gu Chen did not fight like a man defending himself. He fought like a man who had been waiting for an excuse to paint the walls with someone else’s blood.

The Radiant Lotus Sword Art bloomed in the darkness... Petal after petal of pure cutting light. The first assassin lost both arms at the elbows before he could finish his first step.

The second lost his head a heartbeat later.

The third managed to score a shallow line across Gu Chen’s ribs and paid for it by having his entire torso opened from collarbone to navel in a single upward slash that painted the ceiling red.

Blood sprayed in thick, hot arcs. Bodies hit the ground in pieces.

One assassin tried to flee through the shattered window and was pinned to the outer wall by a flying sword through the spine. Another had his saber broken, then his legs, then his neck.

When the last assassin’s head rolled to a stop against the foot of the bed, Gu Chen stood in the center of the carnage, chest heaving, white robes almost entirely red, silver sword dripping.

A single surviving scout who had been watching from the roof took one look at the meat grinder below and ran for his life, already composing the report that would send Hu Ba into an even greater frenzy.

From a nearby rooftop, Gu Fan watched the entire show with his arms folded, a satisfied smirk on his face.

He raised an imaginary cup toward the bloody courtyard.

"Congratulations, brother! You did not disappoint me."
