Chapter 90. 100X feedback X Serapihine
Chapter 90: 90. 100X feedback X Serapihine
“Show me how Seraphine is doing.”
Will said while shifting his attention back to the system interface.
His body still carried lingering soreness from earlier, but his mind was already moving forward to the next thing that needed to be handled.
The system responded almost immediately.
[ding!! Individual Seraphine has trained in the gold-rank light-based healing spell Luminous Embrace.]
Another notification followed without pause.
[ding!! You have received 100x experience for Luminous Embrace.]
A third one appeared right after that.
[ding!! Absolute affinity of light is acting. Your mastery over the spell has been elevated to Grandmaster rank.]
Will stared at the notifications for a few seconds, his brows slowly knitting together.
“Where is the spirit she awakened?” he asked, irritation clear in his voice.
The system answered calmly.
[Host, the spirit is a conscious being that contracts directly with the individual Seraphine. The 100x system cannot return a being with will and consciousness.]
Will’s expression fell immediately.
“Oh no,” he muttered, slumping slightly. “My spirit transformer talent will go to waste.”
His face twisted into visible frustration as he rubbed his forehead.
“(┬┬﹏┬┬)”
The system responded again.
[Host, you will need to summon your own spirit.]
“Ughhh!!! Such a hassle,” he complained openly.
Contracting spirits was never easy.
For elves like Seraphine, spirits were naturally friendly. Their race carried an innate affinity that made spirits more cooperative and open to bonding.
For humans, things were different. Spirits saw humans as short-lived, unreliable, and often unworthy unless proven otherwise.
Will did not want to waste time on spirit summoning. He had too many other things to do. Unfortunately, it looked like he had no choice.
Shifting focus, he checked his current SP.
The number hovered a little above ninety-nine thousand.
This was the amount he had earned during the recent academy attack for the system-assigned mission of saving the top fifty rankers.
One or two of them had died during the chaos, but Will had no idea who they were, nor did he care much at this point; they had refused to follow him at that time.
Staring at the number made his heart ache slightly.
“I presume the shop won’t sell me spirits directly,” he said, already knowing the answer.
[That demand is out of the scope of this shop.]
Will exhaled slowly.
“Figures.”
The system continued.
[You should buy a summoning circle. The higher the grade, the better the results.]
That suggestion made sense.
“Okay,” Will replied. “Show me some for my specific elements.”
Instead of summoning spirits of every element, he decided quickly.
Summoning multiple spirits would be inefficient and costly. It would be better to focus on a single, high-level summon.
A darkness spirit was tempting, but after a brief moment of thought, he changed direction to Sun affinity as curiosity about the element’s related spirits came to his mind.
Spirits were astral beings. They were entities formed from the residual wills of beings who had died long ago.
Their consciousness lingered in the astral space, detached from the physical world.
Summoning circles were specialized formations designed to pull these spirits from the astral realm into Aris and allow a temporary window for contracting.
Summoning circles were divided into nine known ranks, from level one to level nine.
At least, that was what most of Aris believed.
Seraphine herself had used a level five summoning circle. Through that, she had summoned a Valkyrie spirit, a light-based entity skilled in fast-moving close combat and also flight.
There were countless types of spirits. The summoning process itself was mostly random. No one could guarantee what kind of spirit would appear.
The only thing higher-level summoning circles ensured was better potential.
Spirits themselves did not possess ranks in the same way cultivators did. Instead, they grew alongside their summoner until they reached the maximum rank they had achieved during their lifetime.
That limit represented their full potential.
During the summoning process, the magic circle temporarily raised the spirit’s rank to match the summoner’s, making the bonding process possible.
Once summoned, the user had exactly ten minutes.
Ten minutes to convince the spirit to form a bond.
If that time passed, the spirit would return to the astral realm, and the summoning circle would be wasted.
Since summoning circles were one-time use, they were sold at relatively cheap prices.
Will scrolled through the shop categories.
His eyes widened slightly.
There were thousands of summoning circles available, many of them far beyond level nine. Level twelve, level fourteen, level fifteen, and even higher.
It was clear that the inhabitants of Aris had not explored spirit summoning beyond the ninth rank.
Looking at his SP again, Will felt a stab of pain in his chest.
He needed to save some SP for emergencies.
Out of ninety-nine thousand, he decided to use twenty thousand for now.
“Apply a filter for twenty thousand SP,” he said.
The system complied instantly.
The shop interface shifted, narrowing down the options. Several level fourteen and level fifteen summoning circles appeared on the list.
After a few swipes, Will made his choice.
A level fifteen Sun-element summoning circle.
Sun was a rare element. Moreover, his curiosity got the better of him.
He genuinely wanted to see what kind of spirit would respond to such a summoning.
He confirmed the purchase.
The summoning circle appeared inside his inventory.
Taking it out, Will placed it carefully on the grassy ground.
The moment it touched the surface, the ground lit up.
Looking at the formation’s size, Will froze.
It was massive.
The circle was large enough to fit two or three tennis courts inside it.
“What the fuck,” he muttered. “Am I summoning a giant or something?”
The system replied.
[Just place your hands on it and channel your Sun elemental mana through it.]
Will swallowed and nodded.
Stepping into the center of the circle, he placed both hands on the glowing surface and began channeling his mana.
Instantly, the circle flared to life.
Mana shifted violently in the air. The atmosphere distorted as if reality itself was reacting to the summoning.
A white tornado of pure mana erupted from the center of the circle, ripping through everything within its bounds.
Grass was shredded, and soil got cracked. The ground trembled as the tornado spun faster and faster.
Will stood his ground, watching the massive construct of mana tear through the area.
Suddenly, space rippled.
Something enormous began taking shape.
A gigantic and majestic swan appeared.
Its pupils glowed orange like miniature suns.
Krrrrrr!!!!
The shrill cry spread outward like a shockwave.
The sound was so sharp that Will had to clamp his hands over his ears.
The swan looked furious.
Without hesitation, a solar flare erupted from its beak, blazing straight toward Will.
“How dare you, lowly creature, summon me!!!”
The voice echoed as the beam surged forward.
Before it could hit, the summoning circle reacted.
A barrier formed instantly, blocking the attack.
Chains materialized from the circle, shooting upward and wrapping around the swan’s body as it struggled violently.
The ground shook as the chains tried to restrain it.
For a brief moment, it looked like the circle might succeed.
Then the swan broke free.
The chains shattered. The barrier cracked and collapsed.
In the next instant, the swan was in front of Will.
Its talons slammed him to the ground, pinning him in place. Its massive face leaned down inches from his own, screeching violently.
“Ohhh… shit,” Will muttered.
Instinct kicked in.
Stellar fire ignited in his hands as he thrust them toward the creature’s talons, trying to burn them away.
The flames touched the talons.
The swan shrieked in pain and leapt backward, wings flaring.
Its eyes widened as it stared at the stellar fire.
Shock was written clearly on its face.
It looked at William as if it had just seen a ghost.
