Chapter 390. Supressing Rebels - 5
Chapter 390: 390. Supressing Rebels - 5
William activated his Omniscient Eyes and slowly scanned the entire population gathered before him. His gaze swept over every face in the settlement, observing their emotions, their energy, and the subtle details hidden beneath the surface.
Most of the tribe members appeared exactly as expected. They were frightened, confused, and uncertain about what would happen next after their chief had been reduced to a mutilated wreck lying in a pool of blood.
However, one particular individual immediately stood out. William raised a finger and pointed directly toward a woman standing among the harem of the tribal chief who had been pleasing him earlier.
"You. Step forward."
His voice echoed across the silent settlement.
The woman froze for a brief moment before looking around herself. Once she realized that William was indeed addressing her, she gracefully stepped away from the group and began approaching the ivory throne.
She was undeniably beautiful.
Even among cultivators and supernatural beings, her appearance would attract attention. Her features possessed a naturally seductive charm, while her gentle demeanor gave the impression of an innocent, harmless woman. To most people, she looked like the sort of beauty capable of lowering a man’s guard without effort.
The surrounding tribesmen immediately reached the same conclusion.
From their perspective, the situation seemed obvious. Their former chief had been defeated, and the strongest individual present had now selected a beautiful woman from the former tribe leader’s harem. Such things were common within tribal society, where power dictated status and the strongest warrior naturally inherited everything belonging to the defeated.
To them, William’s intentions seemed perfectly understandable. Unfortunately for them, their assumptions could not have been more incorrect.
William was perhaps the last person present who cared about a woman’s appearance. The woman who had been called out shared the same misunderstanding.
Although she was not truly a member of the Iron Tusk Tribe and had infiltrated it under a false identity, she still believed that her disguise remained intact. She assumed that William, who seemed very young, had merely been captivated by her appearance rather than discovering her secret.
Even so, she remained cautious. Beneath her calm exterior, calculations rapidly passed through her mind.
Once she reached the throne, she intended to sit on his lap and establish physical contact. The moment that happened, she would release an exceptionally lethal toxin capable of paralyzing even powerful beings within moments.
After she killed this young man, the now-crippled tribal chief, Dane, would become entirely dependent upon her. His mutilated state would leave him incapable of maintaining control over the tribe, allowing her to gradually seize authority for herself.
Since she would be seen as the savior of the tribe, no one would resist her will to rule. As she walked forward, she briefly glanced toward Dane.
The former chief continued screaming in agony on the ground.
The fact that his wounds showed no signs of regeneration told her everything she needed to know. Some unknown force had prevented healing, reducing the once-proud tribal leader to a permanently crippled man.
Her confidence slowly increased. The closer she approached, the more convinced she became that her plan would succeed.
Then everything changed. A tremendous force suddenly descended upon her.
The pressure appeared without warning and slammed into her body with overwhelming weight. Her legs instantly gave way, and she crashed face-first onto the ground.
Panic flashed through her eyes.
"State your affiliation."
William’s voice rang out coldly across the settlement.
"My... my lord..." she stammered while quickly suppressing her alarm. "I was merely a former concubine who was serving Chief Dane."
Her response came quickly, but William’s expression did not change. A second wave of pressure descended.
This one was significantly heavier than the first. The woman felt her body trembling beneath the crushing force.
Before she could gather herself, she sensed a presence appear behind her. Everything happened in less than a heartbeat.
A flash of icy light swept through the air. Something landed on the ground directly in front of her.
For a brief moment, her mind failed to comprehend what she was seeing. Then the pain arrived.
One of her arms had been severed completely. Amorphous stood several meters away with an ice blade extending from one hand.
No amount of discipline or self-control could completely suppress such sudden agony.
A bloodcurdling scream escaped from the woman’s throat.
"AAAAAAAHHHHH!"
The scream echoed throughout the settlement.
Although it lacked the sheer volume of Dane’s earlier howls, the pain behind it was unmistakable. At that exact moment, something unexpected occurred.
Violent fire energy erupted from her body. Flames surged outward in every direction, only to be repeatedly crushed beneath William’s overwhelming pressure.
William narrowed his eyes. Through his omniscient eyes, he noticed something strange moving beneath the woman’s aura.
Rather than increasing the pressure, he gradually relaxed it out of curiosity about what was hidden inside her that was beginning to emerge now.
At the same time, Amorphous sensed an overwhelming feeling of danger. Without hesitation, he immediately retreated and created significant distance between himself and the woman.
The next few seconds became increasingly horrifying. The woman suddenly began slamming her forehead against the ground while screaming uncontrollably. Her hair turned messy, and her screams turned hoarse; she writhed in pain.
Massive waves of fire energy burst from her body. Her spine started twisting unnaturally beneath her skin. The flesh along her back distorted violently as if something inside was desperately trying to escape.
Then, suddenly, her skin began to tear apart.
Blood and shredded flesh spilled outward as the surface of her back stretched like an overinflated membrane approaching its limit. The sight was grotesque.
Many of the tribe members recoiled in horror. Several stumbled backward while others stared in frozen disbelief. With a wet, tearing sound, something burst through the ruined flesh.
A pair of enormous feathered wings unfolded from her back. The wings were covered in brilliant crimson feathers that seemed to burn with natural fire.
William immediately recognized them. They resembled phoenix wings.
Before he could properly process that realization, the transformation continued. Two clawed arms pushed through the opening in her back.
They emerged slowly at first before violently tearing away more flesh to create room for themselves.
With time, the horrifying spectacle only grew worse.
To the stunned spectators, it appeared as though a second body was being born from inside the first. More limbs emerged. A torso followed.
Then a head slowly separated itself from the surrounding flesh.
The creature inside continued pulling itself free while shedding the human body around it like a person removing a set of clothes.
Blood, skin, and muscle tore apart as the thing finally emerged.
The screaming never stopped, though. The hollow shell of the woman still screamed until the mutated phoenix completely separated itself from her body and stumbled outside weakly.
