Chapter 238. Oracle of Pandemonium
Chapter 238: 238. Oracle of Pandemonium
Tamasya’s eyes opened up; she found herself back in her room. For a brief second, her mind floated between reality and the fading sleepiness, making her vision a bit hazy.
Sitting up, she looked around only to see William sitting on the couch in front of her. The room was quiet, eerily so, save for the faint rustle of fabric as she shifted slightly.
Tamasya breathed heavily; she remembered falling asleep beside him. Her chest rose and fell unevenly, as if her body were trying to catch up. A faint warmth crept up her cheeks at the memory.
William looked at her. “Good morning,” he said with a subtle smile. His voice was steady and calm, but anything but peaceful to her.
Tamasya blinked her eyes for a moment and then nodded. Her lashes fluttered as she tried to steady her thoughts.
William walked to her and handed her some water to drink to make her a bit active.
Only now did Tamasya notice his outfit was different; it was a blue robe decorated with golden accents, and a cape-like cloth hung over his shoulders and made him look like he was wearing a ceremonial robe.
“Why are you wearing such a dress?” she asked, looking at him from head to toe. Her gaze lingered longer than usual, noticing the sharpness in his posture, the way he carried himself like someone about to step into a battlefield.
“I need to leave in a few hours.” William said, sitting back on the couch, “I’ve prepared breakfast for you.” Stay put until I come back; don’t go anywhere,” William said with a smile.
The smile was gentle, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes.
Tamasya looked at him with a frown. A faint crease formed between her brows as unease settled in her chest. “Where are you going?” She asked him.
William looked at her with a subtle smile. “There was something I was not able to address for a long time; finally, I have gotten the chance to take action during these holidays.”
His tone was casual, but the weight behind his words lingered in the air like an unspoken warning.
Tamasya still did not understand what he was trying to say, but she still nodded and felt the need to say some things she had sought before sleeping, before doing anything else. Her fingers curled into the bedsheet unconsciously, betraying the storm of emotions she was holding back.
“About us…” Tamasya said before looking at her fidgeting hands. Her voice softened.
“I have made my decision,” she said.
William smiled and stopped her with a gesture. “Wait, I would like to hear it after I come back from my mission.” William said, “I need immense focus on the upcoming task. I don’t know if you will accept my proposal or reject it, but both answers will be too distracting for me, so I want you to save it for the time I return.”
William knew the answer; he could see it in her eyes, yet he still held it for now. There was a quiet certainty in her gaze that told him everything, but knowing it and hearing it were two different things.
He wanted that magic moment to be surrounded by happiness and peace, which would be worth remembering, and not storms that were about to hit him.
He didn’t tell her, but he felt restless today; something big was coming, and he could feel it.
He could feel it; his heartbeats ran cold, and he was feeling nervous, not because of the upcoming Clayman cult’s conflict but because of something else he was unaware of. He was edgy.
He knew the coming days were going to be unexpected.
It had happened yesterday when he had heard several notifications ringing in his head. The sound had pierced through his sleep abruptly; each chime echoed loudly.

Just reading the description had opened up so many questions in his mind.
The words felt so incomplete and cryptic.
He had not felt it at first, but the moment he had come out of the infinite domain carrying Tamasya in his arms, his smile had vanished; he had felt it immediately like a ticking time bomb, his heart beating, making him sweat rivers.
It wasn’t just fear; it was anticipation mixed with dread, a sensation that coiled tightly around his instincts. And the worst reason was that he didn’t even know why.
William was not scared, but his instincts as a swordsman were screaming, and his sovereign sword’s intent, if earlier it was a calm river, was now a raging threat, threatening to flood out and destroy everything around it just to protect its host from the invisible threat.
Williams’ brain had gone haywire by the name of the talent, the entity being referred to, and the rank; it was the first time he was being awarded such a low-level talent, and the mark at its side describing it as “suppressed” concerned him.
The entity whose name was censored somehow in the text, he felt it might be the unknown who had invaded his domain, yet he had no proof or clue about it.
What was the real rank of this talent? He had no idea about it, and the system had not given any answers; more like it could not.
William had called it several times, but the system had gone completely silent for a few minutes, as if it had shut down. That silence had been more terrifying than any answer.
Coming back, it had told William that this was a very normal thing and he didn’t need to worry about it.
[Yes, it was just monthly maintenance work of the supreme system,] the system’s voice sounded.
“Fuck off, don’t try to lie to me.”
[sigh!! “I am sorry; I just can’t. I am doing everything for you. I can’t tell you things you are not supposed to know for your own safety.] system’s voice sounded defeated, which made William even more worried.
That is why he looked at Tamasya seriously now. “No matter what happens, don’t leave your domain at all!!” William wanted to just put her in his infinite domain and make sure she was safe every moment with him.
But the problem was that this so-called entity called “unknown” had invaded his domain. William felt that even if the unknown won’t do anything to Tamasya, what if something happened to him? Then what would happen to the domain and the beings inside it??
The system had told him the answer. If William dies, the infinite domain collapses completely with him.
Since his heart was beating wildly and something massive was ahead, he felt that she was the safest on her own island, which was laced with several protection arrays and defensive mechanisms, and more importantly, as Tamsya had told him before, Shadow herself protected the whole domain actively. Compared to everything else, this was the one place he could trust.
“But why??” Tamasya stood up, throwing bedsheets to the side. The sudden movement broke the stillness of the room.
She came forward and cupped his face. “William, what happened??” she asked with a serious look in her eyes. Her gaze searched his, trying to pierce through whatever he was hiding.
William shifted his head and lightly kissed her hand before holding it tight. “Don’t worry about it; I just don’t want you to leave the island; I am concerned about your safety.”
He looked at her firmly. “Promise me you won’t leave the island and will stay put!” His gaze left no room for argument.
Tamasya looked at him intently before nodding. She could feel the tension in his voice, even if he refused to speak it aloud. “I promise.”
