Amon kicked the damaged car door with all his strength, sending it flying across the road before he climbed out of the wreckage.

His clothes were slightly torn, but otherwise, he was mostly unharmed.

The same couldn’t be said for the car, whose front end had been crushed against another vehicle.

"Seraphina! Marielle!"

Amon hurried around the wreckage as he reached the opposite side of the car.

The doors had been jammed by the twisted metal.

He grabbed the edges with his bare hands and pulled with a loud screech, the first door tore away from its hinges.

He threw it aside and immediately looked inside.

Marielle was slumped against her seat, her eyes closed, but a faint spiritual glow surrounded her entire body.

The cushion of spiritual energy Amon had created at the last moment had absorbed most of the impact, protecting her from the worst of the collision.

The moment he reached toward her, the spiritual cushion dissolved into countless faint particles and flowed back into his body.

Amon let out a breath of relief before tearing the other door away.

Seraphina was still conscious, protected by her armor, which covered her body.

"Are you two alright?"

"I’m fine." Seraphina answered immediately, reaching toward him.

Marielle took a moment longer before opening her eyes and looking at him.

"My head hurts, but I think I’m alright."

Amon nodded before reaching into the car and carefully pulling Seraphina out.

He then helped Marielle climb out of her seat, keeping one hand around her waist until he was certain she could stand without falling.

"Stay close to me for now."

Neither woman argued.

They turned toward the street, and the destruction surrounding them became impossible to ignore.

The explosion had torn apart several vehicles, leaving twisted metal scattered across the road.

A nearby shop had lost its entire front wall, and shattered glass covered the pavement.

People lay motionless beside overturned vehicles while others screamed for help, dragging the injured away from the burning wreckage.

The smell of smoke, blood, and burning rubber filled the air.

Seraphina’s face turned pale.

Marielle covered her mouth as she stared at the bodies scattered across the street.

Amon’s expression darkened as he surveyed the destruction.

His gaze settled on a car farther down the road, sitting abandoned near the curb with its doors open and its windows already blown out by the explosion.

He could see several suspicious objects inside. "That car was filled with explosives."

Seraphina turned toward him. "What?"

"Someone planted bombs throughout the traffic." Amon glanced at the wreckage around them. "The explosion probably wasn’t an accident."

He was about to move toward the suspicious vehicle when a familiar sound reached his ears.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

Amon froze and his blood ran cold.

He turned toward the source of the sound and found another car.

He looked at Seraphina and Marielle, his expression becoming serious. "Run. Get as far away from here as possible."

Seraphina immediately grabbed his arm. "What about you?"

"I’ll be fine. Just get away from the road!"

He gently pulled his arm free, but Seraphina refused to let go. "Amon, don’t you dare--"

"I said I’ll be fine."

His voice was firm, but he softened his expression when he saw the fear in her eyes.

"Trust me. Take Marielle somewhere safe, and don’t come back until the explosions stop."

Seraphina hesitated, clearly unwilling to leave him behind.

However, another series of screams erupted from the nearby crowd, and Marielle grabbed her hand. "We need to move!"

Amon didn’t wait for them to respond.

He turned and sprinted toward the sound, weaving through the panicking crowd as quickly as possible.

The beeping was getting louder.

He reached a crowded section of the road where dozens of people were gathered around an overturned vehicle.

Amon could hear the ticking device somewhere nearby, but the crowd prevented him from reaching the suspected vehicle.

"Damn it!"

He activated Spatial Steps.

He appeared beside a small car parked near the center of the road.

Amon immediately sensed the explosives inside. There wasn’t enough time to remove them.

He raised both hands, and mana surged through his body.

A thick platform of ice formed beneath the car before rapidly expanding upward into a massive pillar.

The vehicle rose with it, lifting high above the surrounding buildings as the ice continued growing beneath its chassis.

People stopped running and looked up in confusion.

"What the hell is that?"

Amon ignored them.

He pushed more mana into the structure, forcing the pillar to rise even higher.

And at that moment--

BOOOOOOM!

A fireball erupted in the air, sending burning fragments scattering across the sky.

The explosion illuminated the surrounding buildings, and the shock wave rattled windows several streets away.

But the blast occurred high above the road, far enough from the crowd that most of its destructive force dissipated before reaching them.

The crowd stared at the burning wreckage suspended in the sky.

Their gazes shifted back toward him.

Amon raised his voice. "Move away from the main road! Get out of the crowded areas and find somewhere with solid shelter!"

His words finally broke through their shock.

People began moving again, dragging the injured toward nearby buildings and helping those who couldn’t walk.

Amon didn’t have time to enjoy their reactions.

Another beeping sound reached his ears, follwed by another and another.

Amon slowly turned his head.

The sounds were coming from different directions.

His expression turned grim. "Fuck!"

He closed his eyes for a brief moment and took a deep breath, forcing himself to ignore the screams and the surrounding chaos.

His enhanced senses spread through the area, allowing him to distinguish the faint electronic beeps from the noise of the crowd.

Amon opened his eyes.

There were six more vehicles carrying explosives scattered throughout the surrounding streets.

"Shit, I don’t have time for this."

Amon extended both hands.

Mana Threads shot from his fingers, spreading through the air.

They attached themselves to the frames of two nearby cars, and he immediately pulled them toward an open section of the road.

Metal scraped against the pavement as both vehicles slid toward him.

Amon brought them together and bound their frames using the threads, forcing the cars to remain tightly pressed against each other.

He repeated the process with the remaining four vehicles, pulling them away from the densest part of the crowd before binding all six into a single mass.

The beeping grew louder.

Amon raised his hands, and ice spread across the ground.

A thick dome formed around the vehicles, rapidly expanding until it became a massive sphere of layered ice and compressed mana.

He reinforced the outer shell repeatedly until the structure was thick enough to withstand an enormous amount of pressure.

However, a simple dome wasn’t enough.

Amon quickly reshaped the upper portion of the dome, creating a broad, funnel-like channel that extended upward.

The passage narrowed as it rose, directing the potential blast away from the surrounding streets.

He reinforced the walls again, then stepped back and raised another layer of ice around the base. "Come on..."

The beeping became frantic.

Amon clenched his fists and the next instant, all six cars exploded simultaneously.

BOOOOOOOOOOM!

The entire structure shook violently.

The explosion struck the inner walls with tremendous force, and cracks spread through the ice as the pressure surged upward.

A gigantic column of fire and smoke erupted into the sky.

It looked as though a volcano had appeared in the middle of the capital.

The ground trembled beneath Amon’s feet.

He raised his arms to shield his face as the remaining ice structure finally broke apart, collapsing into enormous fragments that crashed onto the empty road.

When the noise finally faded, Amon lowered his arms and took a deep breath.

His mana reserves had dropped a little.

His shoulders ached from the strain of controlling so many threads.

The surrounding buildings remained intact, and the crowd that had been gathered nearby was largely out of the blast’s reach.

For several seconds, everyone stared at the enormous cloud of smoke rising above the city and then someone began cheering.

"He’s alive!"

"He saved us!"

"Look at what he did!"

The cheers spread through the crowd as people realized they had survived another explosion.

Amon scratched the back of his head. "Fucking run, stupid fucks there could be more."

He was about to leave when a familiar smell reached his nose again.

...Blood.

The same unnatural scent he had detected near the university.

He slowly turned toward the surrounding crowd and found the source.

A young man stood near the entrance of a side street.

He wore an ordinary dark jacket and trousers, and there was nothing particularly remarkable about his appearance.

But Amon could smell the vampirc blood on him.

The young man turned slightly, as though he had noticed someone watching him.

Their eyes met, immediately the young man turned and ran away.

"Fucking bastard." Amon immediately followed him.
