Amon looked around in the darkness, his eyes slowly adjusting to the strange environment beneath the city.

The sewage tunnel was much larger than he had expected, with damp stone walls covered in moss and thin streams of dirty water flowing along the edges.

The air was cold and heavy with an unpleasant smell, while the occasional sound of dripping water echoed through the underground passage.

’Great.’ Amon glanced at the filthy water beneath his feet. ’Not the best place I could have ended up on my first week of university.’

He ignored the smell and immediately activated his Truthseeker’s Eye.

The darkness changed.

The tunnel became filled with different colors, and faint traces of energy appeared throughout the surrounding area.

Amon slowly turned his head.

Three red silhouettes were moving deeper into the tunnel.

Victor Cordo was walking between the other two vampires, occasionally looking around as they moved through the narrow passage.

Amon narrowed his eyes. ’So they’re definitely vampires.’

He reached into his spatial bracelet and pulled out his invisible cloak.

The moment he placed it around his body, his presence began fading from the surroundings.

Amon quietly followed them.

His footsteps were almost completely silent as he maintained a reasonable distance, using the darkness and his cloak to conceal himself.

The three vampires continued deeper into the underground.

After walking for several minutes, Amon finally heard their voices.

Their words echoed through the tunnel, making it difficult to determine exactly where they were coming from.

Victor was the first to speak. "How are things going with the King?"

One of the vampires answered calmly.

"Everything is going well." His voice carried a faint confidence. "The King is already under our control. If we wanted to, we could take him out whenever we pleased."

Amon’s expression immediately became serious. ’They control the King?’

He continued listening.

Victor remained quiet for a moment before asking another question. "What about the Duke families?"

The vampire laughed softly.

"You don’t need to worry about them." He sounded completely relaxed. "We’ll create a situation where they’ll be forced to kill each other."

Amon’s eyes narrowed. ’They’re really planning to fuck over the entire kingdom.’

The pieces began falling into place. The rumors about the King’s strange meetings with vampires.

The unstable royal succession and the Duke families being drawn into conflicts.

The vampires appearing throughout the capital.

Amon’s thoughts moved quickly.

’They’re not planning to attack the kingdom immediately.’ He thought calmly. ’They’re going to destroy it from the inside first.’

If they could manipulate the King, turn the major noble families against one another, and create enough chaos throughout the kingdom.

Humanity would be severely weakened before the vampires openly revealed themselves.

It was a dangerous strategy and unfortunately, it was also a smart one.

Amon wasn’t sure whether he liked what they were planning, but at least one thing had become clear.

’Now I know who we’re dealing with.’

He needed to warn Duke Ragnar.

If anyone had enough authority and strength to prepare for something like this, it was him.

Amon continued following the group.

Suddenly the three vampires stopped.

Amon immediately stopped as well.

He quickly moved toward the side of the tunnel and hid behind a large stone support.

His Truthseeker’s Eye remained active as he carefully watched them.

Victor slowly turned his around. "I know you’re here."

Amon’s body became tense. ’Shit.’

His hand moved to take out his weapon.

For a moment, he considered attacking before they could react.

His eyes shifted and something else had appeared behind them.

More red silhouettes appeared in the darkness. ’There are more of them?’

He remained completely still and waited.

A few seconds later, two figures stepped out from another passage.

Amon’s eyes widened. Their silhouettes were humanoid, but there was one unmistakable feature.

Their ears were long and pointed.

’Elves.’ Amon stared at them in disbelief.

The two elves walked toward Victor and the vampires before stopping several meters away.

Amon expected a fight but all he heard was one of the elves spoke calmly.

"Did you bring the item?"

Victor looked at him. "Did you bring yours?"

Amon felt his mind going numb. ’What the hell is going on?’

The elf gave Victor a cold look. "You vampires are always so fucking arrogant and an ass to deal with."

Victor smiled. "And you elves are still a bunch of fucking tree rats."

Amon stared at them. ’They’re working together?’

The exchange of insults was ridiculous, but neither side appeared particularly surprised by it.

The elf eventually ignored the insult. "Our leader wants to meet the person overseeing the entire operation."

Victor’s expression became colder. "I’ll go when you give me the item."

The elf stared at him for several seconds. "Fine."

He reached into his space bracelet and pulled out a small box.

At almost the same time, Victor retrieved another box from his own spatial storage.

The two stepped forward and they exchanged the boxes without another word.

Both immediately opened them and inspected their contents.

Amon couldn’t see what was inside from his position.

He narrowed his eyes. ’Too far.’

He considered moving closer but decided against it.

If Victor or any of them sensed his presence once, getting careless now would be stupid.

The elf carefully inspected the item before nodding. "It’s good."

Victor looked at his own item. "Good."

The elf closed the box and stored it away.

Victor did the same and he turned toward the two vampires who had accompanied him.

"Take the item back to the base."

The two vampires nodded.

Victor’s expression became serious. "If I don’t return by tonight, announce every elven hideout in the kingdom."

The two vampires immediately understood the meaning behind his words. "Understood."

Amon’s eyes narrowed. ’Every elven hideout?’

That statement told him how dangerous the situation was.

The elves clearly had their own network inside the kingdom, and Victor apparently knew where at least some of them were located.

The two vampires turned around and began walking back through the tunnel.

Victor remained behind with the two elves as Amon watched the groups separate.

His mind raced. There were now too many questions.

Why were elves cooperating with vampires?

What were the two boxes?

Who was the leader overseeing the operation?

And most importantly, what exactly were they planning to do to the kingdom?

Amon took a slow breath as he had two choices.

Follow Victor and the elves or follow the vampires carrying the mysterious item back to their base.

He stared at the departing vampires.

After several seconds, Amon made his decision. ’I’ll follow them.’

Whatever was inside those boxes might reveal something important.

Amon quietly moved away from the wall and followed the two vampires into the darkness.

His invisible cloak continued suppressing his presence as the distance between them slowly increased.

’I need to take them out before they can understand who killed them.’ He slowly took out his weapon.
