Chapter 293 Killing Intent

Chapter 293 Killing Intent

“If it’s not something troubling.” Leah knew exactly what Anna Grace was talking about because she had seen Yuan pull things out of thin air before.

“It’s no trouble at all.” Anna Grace replied with a smile before making Leah’s belongings vanish into thin air as she stored them inside her spatial ring.

‘It’s the same as Mr. Yuan. Why am I not feeling any trace of mana in the air? And I don’t even see any magic pouch with them either, how did she do that?’ Leah cried inwardly.

No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t find any magical pouch with any of them nor did she detect any mana trace in the air, which only meant that it wasn’t magic at all. π“‡π˜¦π‘Ž.𝒸ℴ𝓂

In this world, if a mage casts a spell or any magical treasures used such as the magical pouch which has a bigger space inside and can store many things except for living things, upon their use they leave a small trace of mana which is very easy to detect by a novice mage.

Leah was a low-level 2nd-circle mage and not a novice, so she should be able to detect it when Yuan or his wives take out things out of thin air or make them disappear. However, that wasn’t the case here as she detected nothing. Not even a slight trace of mana.

‘How could this be? Why am I unable to detect any mana signatures in the air? Are they not making use of magical treasures? What are they genuinely using if they aren’t using magical treasures?’ Leah was astonished to discover that no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t detect any mana signature in the atmosphere, and she pondered this to herself.

Yuan noticed the dazed look on Leah’s face and he couldn’t help but sigh, and with a gentle voice, he asked, “Leah, what are you thinking so deeply? Are you feeling sad about leaving your parents’ house behind?”

“I’m really sad to be leaving this house because it holds so many of my wonderful childhood memories with my parents. Even though it isn’t a proper house, this house holds a special place in my heart.” Leah responded with a dazed smile on her face, recalling her joyful childhood memories in this place.

She could still recall her childhood memories in this house very clearly, she could still remember how her mother would often give her a copper coin whenever she felt down and was upset about something.

Looking at the look on Leah’s face, Yuan and his wives could understand how much this house meant to her because she was raised in this very house.

Then she continued, “Mr. Yuan and Mrs. Yuan, I don’t understand one thing, you may say I’m very curious.”

“What makes you curious, Leah? You should know that when a woman is curious about a guy, she falls in love with that guy,” Yuan said with a playful smile on his face, attempting to cheer her up.

Leah’s cheeks flushed immediately after hearing his words as if she had fallen in love for the first time. However, she kept her cool, believing that Yuan was only trying to cheer her up and that he was out of her grasp because she was just a commoner with no background.

Leah looked at Yuan with a curious look on her face, and said, “Well, previously when you took out things from thin air and as well as made them disappear, I could detect any mana signature in the air, what kind of magical treasures did you use?”

However, Yuan had already predicted that Leah would ask something like this as he had been taking out and storing things in his system storage while Anna Grace stored Leah’s belongings in her spatial ring, they weren’t surprised at the least hearing her question.

“Well, Leah, the answer is very simple, actually why you couldn’t detect even the slightest mana signature in the atmosphere.” Yuan didn’t think that telling Leah that they weren’t mages would be problematic for them, as she would be traveling with them from now on.

He believes that Leah wouldn’t reveal their secret to anyone even if he tells her that they’re cultivators, and since they’ll be traveling together now they should reveal a bit about themselves until they earn her full trust.

Even if she wouldn’t reveal it to anyone doesn’t mean that they should lower their guard against her and reveal everything about themselves and their prowess.

“How so?” Leah curiously asked. How can something so complicated be so simple?

“To put it simply, we are not mages as you believe, we are something else… And because we don’t use any mana nor do we have any mana in our bodies, you won’t be able to detect any mana signature in the air.” Yuan tried to explain this to Leah in as few words as possible because he didn’t want to waste time explaining everything to her.

“…” Leah looked at Yuan and his wives with a dumbfounded expression on her face with her wide open eyes. How can someone be so strong if they don’t use any mana or have any mana in their bodies?

“You don’t need to think about it too much, Leah,” Anna Grace spoke with a chuckle, looking at the perplexed Leah. “Thinking about it will simply make you stressed and will not get you anywhere.”

“All right, I get it. I’m not going to concentrate on it any longer…” Leah couldn’t help but agree with Anna Grace, because she couldn’t possibly inquire about their secret, and in her opinion, inquiring about other people’s secrets is impolite.

“Now that you’ve packed everything you need, let’s go to the Dandelion Inn. We’ll be spending the night there and leave this town once the sun is out.” Yuan said to her before getting up from the chair.

“Alright, let me take a last look around the house before we leave this place,” Leah said.

“Sure, please feel free to spend as much time as you want after all there is a higher chance that you won’t be returning to this place for a very long time.”

“Thank you.” Leah then left Yuan and his wives and went to look around the house one last time before leaving this place.

Sometimes later, she returned to Yuan and his wives, and then they walked out of the house.

Once they were out of the house, Leah quickly locked the door and took the key with her as there was no one alive in her family anymore she was all alone now in this world.

“Let’s go,” Yuan said and led them toward the direction of the Dandelion Inn.

As they walk down the streets, they attract a lot of unwanted attention from the people at the side of the road.

Most of them were mesmerized by his wives’ unparalleled beauty and their superior aura that made them truly unique among the people, hence all the males couldn’t hold themselves from staring at them and admiring their beauty.

Not only his wives were attracting attention, but Yuan himself also attracted unwanted attention from the women at the side of the road as they couldn’t take their eyes off his handsome face, some of them even had husbands but still couldn’t hold back themselves from staring at him.

As Yuan and his wives continued to walk down the streets, many people began to whisper.

“Hey, isn’t that the person Lord Monbrook is searching for some reason? I heard that this young man somehow offended the young Lord Henrik.”

“That’s him, in this entire Monbrook city only he has such beauties following him around, there’s no doubt that it’s him.”

“He made a grave mistake by offending the young Lord Henrik. Not only is he the genius lightning mage of this city, but he is the son of Count Monbrook, and offending is equal to offending the entire Monbrook family.”

“I’m sure that Lord Monbrook won’t let him go and perhaps he will make these beautiful young ladies pleasure toys for his son to play with, it’s truly a pity.”

“This is the price you have to pay for offending the Count’s family, and you already know how clever and cruel Lord Monbrook is… It’s clear that this young man won’t be alive to see tomorrow’s light.”

Yuan’s ears picked up everything the people were talking about very loud and clear, but Yuan acted as though he didn’t hear anything and continued to walk alongside his wives, and Leah and his wives did the same thing.

‘So, the Monbrook family is really looking for trouble with me despite my warning to that idiot, huh?’ Yuan smiled inwardly.

After walking for a few minutes, they arrived at the vicinity of the Dandelion Inn. And Yuan immediately sensed something was wrong in this place, he felt killing intent radiating from numerous locations in the vicinity.

‘So, the Count’s family have arranged people to look out for us, huh? Interesting…!’ A faint smile appeared on his face as he quickly located them using his divine sense.

‘Let’s see if they were going to attack us or not… If they don’t, that means they’re only keeping an eye on us.’ Yuan thought.

With a serious expression on his face, he turned to his wives and Leah and stated, “A few people are keeping an eye on us, and I suspect they’re the people working for the Monbrook family.”

“Don’t look around and give them the impression that we were unaware of their presence.” He said.

“Alright. We’ll do as you say, darling.” Anna Grace quickly nodded, and the other girls nodded as well.

A minute later, they arrived in front of the Dandelion Inn and entered the inn without wasting a single moment outside.

When one of the soldiers noticed this, he said to his colleagues, “They have returned to the Inn. Let us notify Lord Monbrook as soon as possible, or the Lord will be furious at us.”

“I’ll go inform the Lord.” One of the soldiers said before rushing towards the Golden Delicacy where Lord Monbrook and his son Henrik were dining.
